Another way to work out the last question. 10% of 620 = 62 (divide by 10) 1% of 620 = 6.2 (divide by 100 or move decimal one place to the left) 6.2+6.2=12.4 (2%) 0.5 % of 6.2 = 3.1 (divide by 2) 62 (10%) + 12.4 (2%) + 3.1 (0.5%) = 77.50 (12.5%) 620 -77.50 = 542.50
Thanks for taking us through the exam, I’m working on this with some students and this will come in handy. I would have taken a different approach on 2 of these questions myself (I hope you don’t mind me saying!) Q6 I would have worked out the area of the big rectangle (6m x 7.5m) and then take away the area of the triangle (2m x 4.5m / 2). Not much different to your method to be fair but has less steps. Q7 I like your method but I think it would be too complicated for some students. I would just keep it simple and divide £620 by 100 and then multiply by 12.5 which gives £77.50 and then take that off the £620 for £542.50. Enjoyed the video though I’ll be watching more of these with my students and talking through different ways of thinking. Thanks!
The ratio is 2:2:1. (S,m,l) we take the amount of 50 and divide by 5 (2+2+1) this gives us 10, to find out how many Small we then multiply by 2 (the first 2 in the ratio 2:2:1) which gives us 20 ☺️ I hope that helps
@@mrmaths98 Sure does thank you. I was in a good place before with your and another's videos. Was due to sit exam then I got bloody covid for the first time and because of dyscalculia maybe I basically forgot it all. Test next Monday, I'll let you know
The government really got me stressing over the fraction of custard creams. THAT I DONT EVEN GET TO EAT. they really got me learning about nothing. Edit: Oh nvm Fractions are quite easy. Hehe 😭 I freaked out a little sorry.
Another way to work out the last question.
10% of 620 = 62 (divide by 10)
1% of 620 = 6.2 (divide by 100 or move decimal one place to the left)
6.2+6.2=12.4 (2%)
0.5 % of 6.2 = 3.1 (divide by 2)
62 (10%) + 12.4 (2%) + 3.1 (0.5%) = 77.50 (12.5%)
620 -77.50 = 542.50
These videos are super helpful, Thank you so much
Thanks you u are the best
Thank you. i really like the way you explain.
I watch this everyday
thank you

Thank you for the support and suggestions ☺️
Couldnt for Q7 you have just found 12.5% by dividing, its a lot quicker, you can find 0.5% by dividing by 200
14:30
the 20/100 simplified is 1/5
Question 5 12.25, you say "2 x 10 = 20", I have no idea where either of those numbers came from.

Wait how did you get the 10? For question 5
Same here what he has done to the ratio. 2+2+1=5 ??
Was question 4 not 17 over 60?
how did you get the 0.875
Which question are you referring too? can you put a time stamp in your reply so I can help you further 🙂
Very complicated solution😄 y not simply multiply 620 x .125=77.50
620-77.50=542.50
Question 7 is confusing me a bit
Yes i see what you mean.. he said 2x5 when it should be 2x7..
I don’t understand how you get 0.875
Which question would that be my friend, if you give me a time stamp I can explain 🙂
I didn't either, but 0.125 is substrates from 1 so the remainder is 0.875
So 1 - 0.125 is 0.875 as a decimal. Hope this helped you
Subtracted *
Q5 completely don’t understand
I admit it does look a bit messy and I apologise for it, What part are you having trouble with? Maybe I can help 😊
