I'm hearing a lot of Elton John from his early black album or even Amereena, even his playing style is coming through on this song in particular. I love her, as I did Elton back then. She's a true artist in the making.
Oh yes but that band configuration she had with them was the best players ever. T-Bone and Daryl and the Shawn P on the drums and the bass and keyboards are just sick. That is the best band ever so anyone who plays there just......shines. And Diane's jam with them was really magical and showed just how damn good she is.

I agree that piano would sound better in this setting, but the Fender Rhodes is an iconic, classic electronic keyboard that was the sound of the 1970's. I think it sounds far from cheap - just my .02 ;-)
Have to disagree with the comments below. While Birch herself is great, but she and Daryl Hall made a great collaboration. I love their work very much.

Sounds a lot like Janis Joplin returning to sing something similar to Elton's "Daniel". A little spooky but I still like it.

I'd rather hear the sound of a real piano than that cheap sounding thing. Would do her more justice too. Just my opinion.
