Small message to all men here - MAN can make or break a family. He is most prominent member of family regardless of feminists or modern people say. Please motivate your family, support them, never use them as punching bags, never neglect or humiliate or abuse or demoralise them. Be their biggest motivator, teacher or guide. They will thank you for generations and worship you. Or else please do not have kids at all and do not marry if you cannot handle your ego or temper or addiction or other generational curses, baggage, stress you have. First get therapy, rehab and heal rather than foolishly getting married and having kids but not taking responsibility or using family as your trauma dumping ground. Or giving more importance to your colleagues or work or business partners than your own kids. Your money will not make up for lack of quality time and guidance, psychosocial and moral support kids need from dad.

@@pamelibakshi6771 True. I respect my father, dada, uncles but I wish they were not abusive. My dada single handedly destroyed my dad's career, education, self esteem and in turn his sufferings affected us. Just because we are conditioned not to say much or respect elders, especially respect male authority, it does not mean we do not clearly see who is wrong and how pressure to silently obey and tolerate them is ruining us like termites from within. I see lot of men simply dump frustrations on family and take family for granted and think they have right to abuse family or fight anywhere or get violent in public. Some never think how they embarass family or destroy reputation of kids and their future also. Especially ones with addiction or mental issues are worst ones. A failed head of family is like a pilot who causes plane to crash and kills everyone who is on board with him. I also hate spineless men who let others abuse their own family and never take a stand for own family nor become their support or shield.

My dad was worse I don’t even want to remember my childhood. It was because of his upbringing where his dad was an addict, he forcefully took my dad from his mom, he also married again and worse was that my dad had to stay with the step mom. He never had the concept of love and family attachment at all. Still I kept up with all the abuse in my childhood and with time my father was completely healed and I’ve seen him so gentle with my kid. I can never imagine he is the same person. I was so scared of him in my childhood.

Can relate Ranveer. My dad use to complain and we use to get in to lot of fights all the time during high school, I didn't really understand him. But during Uni, decided to go work with him for a while, and it just clicked in my head, I realised he was working hard for me and my family and wanted best for us. Sometimes a bit too much, he wants everything his own way. And now he still complains, and I do get annoyed time to time but I am more understanding, meditation and spirtual content has helped too. But you are right there is no point habouring anger and hate towards your own family member.

This is a topic that people really hold back on. It takes a lot of courage to speak up. Exposing vulnerability to the Indian community can be quite the challenge, as the level of trust we have over society has just waned over time. It’s so difficult to talk about parental relationships because we know that they are the only people who are biologically wired to us, and exposing this failed docking means addressing the most sensitive aspect of life. It is an open invitation for blame games, non-specific advice and pressure of idealism from those who fail to comprehend, that it almost feels like a life threat to expose such personal information. Glad to note that you took a stand for all of us in the battlefield to change the pattern of bottling up the compounded relationship struggles. You feel so deeply and it’s great to see this on screen.

When father is abusive towards you or your mom or negligent or absent or over controlling or forever using kids and family as punching bags, demoralizing kids or women or putting down whatever kids or women do or fighting in public and embarassing kids or drunken brawls...I wonder why we are not taught to talk openly about dad issues. And why men are not taught parenting or their role and impact as parents. Man can MAKE OR BREAK family as he is most influential member of family. His support or lack of it, can destroy a family. My dad and grandpa and uncles were abusive and violent and very negative and discouraged us, beat up women and kids and threw our certificates and trophies and bashed whatever we did and humiliated us in public. Anyway my dad also refuses family therapy and he is averse to me and my sister take counselling. He is main reason why our family suffered and his wrong decisions ruined us and got family almost on roads. I used to resent my mom also for tolerating him or not standing for us or atleast protecting us from his abuse or why she married him at all. I keep hoping my dad would change or realise how his behaviour is hurting us. I crave his support and I wish he motivated us or was peaceful...but he refuses to realise or change. He does not even leave us alone. He dominates our life entirely. We all have low self esteem and are introverts and feel unsure of interacting with others due to dad's abuse and dada's abuse. Your video just opened all wounds.

When I saw the trailer of animal, I did feel it was because of daddy issues. I feel anger towards my mother like you did with your father. After she passed away, I realised a lot of anger towards was both of them. I tried to express how i feel but he doesn't understand. I just look at a wall and just tell what i want to tell him and just throw away that anger. Unfortunately, my dad doesnt want to make an effort to understand my predicament. Forgiveness is an over-rated virtue. You do not have to resolve your issues with your psychologically/emotionally damaged parent if you don't want to, or if it doesn't feel right to you. Just because it worked for Ranveer doesn't mean it will work for you. Be okay with the fact that some relationships do not need any closure. Leave them as it is.

    A piece of advice 🙏
Dont take half step towards your mother after marriage. It would be the same as what ur father did. As u rightly said as we age we turn into kids. Infact spare equal time to both the parents (in-laws) and start managing your time. Your kids also need their nana and nanni..
Let all the past wounds be healed and take conscious effort in maintaining relationships. Best wishes and Good luck..👍🙏

So true 💯 . Dad was never around at home as he was working around Karnataka as a banker when brother was growing up aged between 12 and 22. Those 10 years brother's world revolved around mom and me . Inspite of mom asking dad to spend time with him he never made an effort to understand him as a son. Dad would justify his actions by saying whatever he is earning , it is only for children. Dad only fulfilled his duties as a father. Infact i filled the place of dad when brother was growing up. After mom passed 6years ago , he only shares things with me not dad . I wish dad could have made efforts to spend time with him and bonded well .

Every person is going through something in life. Some don't have eyes, some don't have legs, some are unable to eat due to cancer. If you know you can do something that your parents didn't, then do it, it's the generation understanding gap.
    1) understand people
    2) start loving parents back your way (doesn't have to be their way)
    3) follow responsibilities towards parents untill your last breath
    4) pray everyday
    All will be good.
P.s and DONT DEPEND ON PEOPLE THINKING THEY WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU NEED THEM, only a handful of people will show up. 99% of the people watching this video won't be there when you call them including me, want to give it a try? Bitter truth.

We must forgive our parents and understand they're humans. Not perfect or Gods. They're imperfect like ourselves. I had issues with both of my parents. A violent experience from baby to 17 when I moved out and never looked back. But from my own soul's journey and growth, I learned to see them in a loving and compassionate way. I love them with all I am now... it wasn't easy, but in order for my healing, I had to understand why things happened. I wouldn't be the father I am without this understanding. Not many people get to this place. Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🥳

Hi! Thanks for opening your heart to your audience, which is not easy. I’m a foreigner, who happens to travel a lot to India. Saying this, I express myself with deepest respect to the country that I love the most. The issue of patriarchy in India has affected the way people relate to each other and the way people see themselves in ways that is not healthy at all. In the last 5 years (sort of), I have seen more awareness and openness regarding mental health in India. I feel that the social and economic transition that is going on in the country is bringing to the surface deep rooted problems. There are ways of living and relating to life that will not work anymore if India wants to thrive in the current worldwide scenario. Daddy Issues are not “Daddy Issues”, those are social issues that spread to the family system. There is an underlying broader problem regarding gender roles in India, which are detrimental to social development. There is a very long way to go for India to come out of those social paradigms. But this younger generation is having a better chance to see how the older ways of social hierarchy, patriarchy and gender imbalance is not conducive to a better society anymore.
