    With my eyes closed, I picked the professional. I think it sounds clearer on the low mids. Would probably cut better in a live situation. The 60's is more buttery, smooth, the low strings kind of just meld together. I'd throw in some WCR SR's in the 60's and call it a day.

    Hiya. I love your video. You're a great guitar player. Both tones sound amazing and the original does slightly edge it but I dont think theres much in it. They both sound great. 1 question, you mention the professional has a thinner neck which makes it easier to play.
    Is there a big difference in the necks? Is it really noticeable when you play it? I ask because I have quite small hands and although I prefer the tone of the 60s maybe I'm better buying the professional because of the thinner neck. Thank you

      It is chunkier, not extremely chunkier but you would definitely notice it the moment you pick up the guitar. But it is a matter of how it feels to you. Tone wise depending on what I’m playing I like the American original but the American pro has other benefits. There is no hum cancellation in any pickup position on the American original, so position 2 and 4 will have hum. Not a big deal but something to know but they sound awesome.

    I think the American Original 60's Sound great. Have you tried the PRS Silver Sky? I'm trying to debate between buying the Original 60's or the Silver Sky? I'm worried for vintage radius on Silver Sky.

    • @ianarchiboldmusic
      @ianarchiboldmusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a silver sky and have no problems with the 7.25” radius, it is so easy to play, and I’ll do a comparison between the silver sky and a custom shop strat ... in between the American original and the Silver sky they were kind of similar. The original felt less bright but all those things can be adjusted with tone, eq etc.. the only thing that was always a bit annoying was that the American original had no quiet positions.. so position 2 and 4 will still have the same hum as neck/middle/bridge and that was a bummer sometimes.

    • @llwonder
      @llwonder 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianarchiboldmusic I actually already bought the silver sky. I got one new from a local shop in Tungsten. I had some issues with fret buzzing and little bits of popping. I think both of those issues could be solved with a set up. I returned the guitar today because I want a different color. I like the Dodgem Blue best, and now I'm debating getting that one or the Original 60's Stratocaster in CAR. The 60s sounds nice on its own, though, if you want a sound with less 'bite.' I don't agree with other comments saying the 60s sounds more articulate. Went to the store and loved it. You can hear the difference in this video. More articulation in the original. Sounds more like a strat. As one comment put it the pro felt like it was missing something. To me, mainly it was that the notes bled together and there was no articulation. Also, the 9.5” radius on the original felt so much better. So I ordered an olympic white original 60s this morning. Cant wait.

      The elite is the old "Deluxe" all new N4 noiseless p-ups. Loads of girth, it's like the les Paul of Strats. Really fat and crunchy. The Originals are way softer, creamier.. some don't like that. I like some girth in my axe honestly. The N4's are supposed to be the top of the line hum bucking pick up fender offers. Oh and that totally awesome S1 kill switch. The originals, bear in mind, it has all the vintage specs, tuners, truss rod at the butt of the neck, 6 point synchronized trem system, If you don't mind those differences then hey go w the Original series then. Some ppl don't like the vintage specs, being the tuners are harder to wrap/ truss rod is harder to access through the bottom only. You have to pop the neck every time, If you don't mind those things, oh and they come with vintage 59/ 62 vintage grey bottoms, I'm pretty sure, cloth covered as all high end gits should be. Sorry for the ramble. Good day friend! PS: Good luck on your search. If you can play each one before buying it, that would help greatly in your decision. Cheers

    I tried 3 Fender Stratocasters in store. A Vintera 50’s and Original 50’s both had the top E string much too close to the edge of the fret board. All three of them were a devil to get in tune and after only light playing including small string bends they all went out of tune quickly and a retune was necessary, repeat several times to allow for string stretching but this wasn’t the issue. The problem is inherent in Stratocasters. I find it frustrating that I can’t go into a store pick up a Stratocaster and it’s going to play well and stay in tune without having to take it home screw down the trem , file the nut and lubricate it, lubricate the string tree, fit locking tuners, adjust the action, take 4 screws out of the bridge to make it more stable, oh no wait the six screws in the Vintera and Original are very stable according to reviewers so maybe the Pro needs four after 60 years of development, what a foul up, you can spend more time fighting with these great looking guitars than playing if you’re not careful. I’ve had Strats before including a deluxe and an anniversary model and they all had tuning issues and the anniversary had the same string too close to the edge problem. I had a new graphite nut installed on recommendation but it didn’t fix the problem. Buyer beware!

      Daniel Rodriguez If I had to pick one I would probably go with the American Original but it would be a hard decision. I usually role down the volume around 8.5 on strats but on the American original I can be on 10 without any ice picking notes, it has a warmer tone and the thicker neck feels great. Now it all depends on what kind of music you want to play, I do feel the American pro is a bit easier to play than the Original, probably because of the modern specs, the neck, frets etc. Also having the treble bleed is a plus for the American pro. I would recommend you to go play them at a store if you can, you would hear and feel the difference right away. To be honest you won’t go wrong with any of these. Hope you enjoyed the video!

      Tigerhunter887 I got the 50’s AO and I love it. I did get the ash version which does have a slightly different tone to the alder body version. Worth playing side by side to make sure you get the tone you are after. The ash is slightly more scooped than the alder but both sound great. I love the sound of the 60’s version as well and in a perfect world I would have both. Definitely more mids to the 60’s version. Personally I think this is a great range from fender. I have the 60’s tele and that is outstanding. My favourite guitar. I also think the neck on the 60’s guitars are easier to deal with. I don’t have massive hands and have to fight the neck on the strat more than the tele. Worth fighting for though as once you have the guitar set up properly it sounds fantastic. Totally recommend the full range.
