'Blazing fast' trains these are. :), The green surroundings were beautiful though. I don't think it's practical to have high speed trains in Sri Lanka and not necessary either. The landscape changes two frequently and too curvy and too uneven to have any high speed trains. Besides, it is a small Island. It's not that critical to save half an hour from Jaffna to Colombo. Also the dense vegetation support a lot of wild life across railway tracks. Having trains travel at high speed would be bad. I think there are about 180 elephant deaths recorded in a recent year from getting hit by trains. Until a massive number of underpasses and overpasses are created for elephants to cross railway tracks, the trains in Sri Lanka should stick with low speeds. Central highland trains are not a big problem because they cannot travel at highs peeds with constant bends the trains have to negotiate.

Please, for God's sake, please, do something decicive about your tracks. Many of them are unstable and dangerous. You can see in the videos how wobbly they are. When trains begin to run fast, these tracks could cause undesirable incidents. Hope someone will pay attention to these comments. God bless.
Hi bro. It is the train from Matara to Jaffna running via Colombo. I think this is a weekend special train. Daily train is Matara to Anuradhapura known as Rajarata Rejini.
These trains can probably go faster than that, but track condition doesn't seem to be good enough. Must be a bumpy ride on these trains, fun nonetheless
