It is always cool to see what people are doing in rugged tech! I always get excited to see what from this sector makes it into our consumer grade tough minded products
Just commenting since I didn't see anyone else mention it, startup Framework is now making a laptop that obviously takes ques from Panasonic. The Framework laptop is nowhere nearly as well made as the Hulkbuster, but it does show at least a glimmer of consumer interest.
I like how you show frameworks laptop. Framework REALLY needs to make a rugged laptop competitor. They could be a HUGE disruptor in that space and even bring it to comsumers that just want more rugged devices instead of going thinner/more light weight and breakable. I want a framework laptop built like a tank...
One of my favorite features is the 180 degree screen opening. I find myself leaning my laptop against a wall in tight areas. Serial port is very important for me. I use mine in the rain and dropped it a few times and continues to work. A couple keys on the keyboard started acting up after leaving it in the vehicle during the winter months. I'm still using a 53 model and trying to decide if I want to replace it with a 55 or 33.
Those prices that scrolled by weren't too bad considering how custom and low volume it is. I noticed they were under $5k. At my last job any piece of equipment < 5k my immediate boss could buy. Anything over, it needed his boss. I could see a consumer market of those rich people with overlanding vehicles. It would fit right in.
I have about eight tough books ,, old , yep ,, bit slower ,, yep ... well I can live with all of that , as when they get beer spilt on them I throw a bottle of water over them and keep going , these are not only tough , these are rock and roll tough.
I wish there would be a consumer version as well, I was lucky enough to find a second hand unit with less than 10 working hours in like new condition on internet veran affordable price ❤
Panasonic had for many years "business ruggedized" line of laptops in their portfolio. As of 2023, Panasonic gave up on this idea; none of the business focused products seem to be available anymore.

Makes me feel so grown up LOL.
"Off to go do the business at my work job!"
Nice to see a laptop that’s not disposable! Well my Thinkpad just turned 10 and running great! I just keep upgrading it.
Aw man. I miss my old thinkpad...
I agree consumers want more of these kinda things

The only laptop you need steel toe cap boots to use, cus if you don't, you will break all your toes
My ideal laptop is an Alienware Area 51m style toughbook.

I LOVE them so much. I'm about to wrap up a test drive with a Getac, and I don't want to give it back LOL.

That's AMAZING! I completely agree. There needs to be a good consumer flavor accessible.
Just bought one ! Over a Mac as sick of replacing macs every 3/5 years
Congrats! I'm SERIOUSLY considering grabbing one for my own personal use.
How about OUTDOOR READABILITY?
Something's off with the video at 6:00. I hear the slam of the battery, but no battery slam is seen 🥲
I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!!! Bwahahaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Most awesomely beveled, chiseled, handsome styling ever.
Checkout the framework laptop. I think you will like it...
what about the laptop from Dell?
They need to follow framework laptop for a consumer facing repairable laptop
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Is it me or does the video gets choppy at 5:40
It's not just you

Only governments are able to regulate repairability, if they are independent enough to do so.
