I'm a grader guy, and running a 24 would be the highlight of my operating experience.

Not a grader guy, but having run some equipment getting to jump up to a bigger machine is always a kick in the pants, as long as it's not a worn out pile of junk.

Ran a 24 m at the coal mine here in Alberta. To get a good crown, windrow from the outside to the middle; then put the grader in the center of the road; then put the blade as straight across , with both sides in the air and blade it so the gravel stays in the middle of the road, not in the ditch

I personally would love to see you rebuild this motor grader, I’ve operated a blade for 20+ years and it would be really cool to see that one get restored

Nice part of your job is getting to play with all the toys, before you get to tear it apart. Just like when we were kids.

Learning how the big grader works was interesting and fun. Although, at almost 81, I don’t think I’ll ever get to use what I learned! 😊 🇨🇦

I think it would be a real waste parting out a beautiful machine like that!

You should have had the blade rotated the other way to cause the gravel to move to the middle of the road. As you found out, now you have to clear the gravel down each of the lanes. It’s called crown because it should be the highest point on the road so that the water runs off the road.

Looks like it’s working well enough to fix up and resell I’d hate to see it parted out 😢 there was a guy at the coal mine who operated one of those and he was really skilled with it bad thing was they only had him grade the road when us haulers bitched enough that we just got tired of it and slowed down our rounds lol 😂

Great explanation of the controls. I watch to see these machines up close. How many gallons of diesel did that job take? Is there a market for charging people to drive your machines? I know, lawyers and insurance. I worked next to a heavy equipment school where they had a big field that they pushed dirt from one side to the other and back.

Reminds me of the old John Deere commercial where they use a combine to cut the grass on a 1 acre house lot in 3.5 seconds and plow his garden with a 8760 in 4.5 seconds.🍻

There is a feature on those graders. I ran a greater for about two months with a company in Pittsburgh called independence and what I did was when I was a little bit of slack time I was keeping the whole roads smooth top for the off-road trucks anyway there’s a feature with the blade you can tip the blade forward and what you’re doing as you’re carrying less material in the direction you’re going at least more material behind that’s OK you didn’t know did a nice job anyways are and always remember that blade can if you bring it back too far will damage your tire and boss man won’t be happy about that anyway, this is a Jim Mungai from Kennerdell Pennsylvania. I also go by six and a rowJim, I have a 1991.5 dodge three-quarter ton and it’s got six in a row under the hood anyways 95,000 hours on that machine that’s pretty impressive very impressive actually and also I’m going to see the people that used it ran it properly and did good maintenance all right run some good quality fuel injection cleaner in the fuel. You talked about an injector hanging up. It might take care of that for you. Happy new year.

I already know what they're for, bcause one of my cousins used to drive a grader for the county, clean ditches out & grade dirt roads,he let me drive the one he was driving,it was one of those older graders that has the knuckle buster levers,it was fun, he told me how & when to tilt the wheels & do the blade,it was so cool 😎 wish I had that old grader

As a practical matter Who will buy it , are they willing and able to pay what you need to make it worth the trouble and expense. Sadly to big to be Practical in most places, my opinion

He managed to 14:24 move most of the rock to the ditches. A skilled grader oper 15:50 ator would have said the grader is way too big for the job. He didnt too bad with such a huge grader however. 😢
