As a Durbanite I think it's important I clear up a few things.
1) Yes, Durban is hella chilled and laid back HOWEVER our night life is LIT af. There are so many spots you could've hit as a 1st time visitor. There's Views on 25, There's Eden (champagne garden). There's Florida Rd (an entire road of vibes). If you're for a groove vibe mixed with a pub There's Amsterdam on Davenport Ave. Then there's the hood. MAX'S Lifestyle and Eyadini...both of which are in Umlazi Township.
2) I could go on and on but basically you should've asked the locals and your visit here would've been on another level.
Sometimes IG pages gas up a place for no good reason and some places have horrible social media presence but are Godly in their vibes.
Khanya, your friend is amazing, I'm so happy for you that you connected with such an accomodating, generous kind soul (that's how I know Xhosa people to be especially when it comes to hospitality).... Such great chemistry between you two. Give thanks for the gift of friendship 💕

@@samirasamee609 Yup, in an urban environment where people are cautious and weary (which is very normal) to quickly embrace and take under their wing a total stranger, I found Xhosa folks to be extremely open minded and welcoming. If you ever find yourself in a foreign country and the expat group has one or few members who are Xhosa, trust that you'll be well taken care of. My roomy back in Varsity used to say "WITH AMAXHOSA YOU GET SERVED EXACTLY WHAT YOU ORDERED....BEHAVE & YOU'LL RECEIVE KINDNESS AND PLENTY MORE GOODNESS BUT MISBEHAVE & YOU'LL GET YOURSELF A DEVIL SIPPIN ON GRAVY" 😂😂😂
You know, I am an Indian and I had worked in SA for few months. I can never forget my women friends there from the black community. I was never felt truly loved like that before
There is no “black community “ in Africa! There is an AFRICAN COMMUNITY in Africa. Respect the indigenous and their nationality. To label brown skin “black” is a racist insult and a damn lie. I’m sure your “Indian “ skin is browner than my family members - do you ascribe to the black label?

I’m inlove with how South Africans are embracing their cultures and letting go of the western way of getting married that was forced upon them. I hope it’s not just a trend but a pivot point for all native South Africans! Yes yes 👏🏿
We've always embraced how traditional cultures and marriages. How we operate is that we have a traditional wedding first and then we decide if we want a white wedding or not.
True, most no longer feel the need for white wedding.
@@Afrosoil11 yeah, either they just don't want it or it's too expensive and money has already been spent of the traditional wedding, lobola etc.

Yes the wedding is short Zulu and Xhosa traditional wedding are beautiful. Am a Xhosa but I love Zulu traditional wedding more especially those very traditional ones.

I totally loved loved loved this video the most. My friend also visited me from the states wayback and on her first day I took her to a traditional wedding in Soweto. Loaned her my African attire and she got to keep it. This brought back really good memories. I miss my friend so much. It's so refreshing to see someone fully go in and embrace the SA experience. Love your channel. You definitely need to go back to Durbs for the real stuff outside of Umhlanga (not really Durban anyway). You need to check out Florida road, the Davenport area bars, uShaka Marine, Max's Lifestyle and Club Rich to name a few. Definitely more to see and do.
