@@scrittle the stealth I can argue a lack of crouching or methods to force the ai to switch or break sight isn’t there, but its an allude to the classic thief series so...
Really just needs a few touch-ups here and there. 1 - better "stealth" mechanics and flesh out the cultists. Not really stated why they want the train monster to live, it seems to want to eat them all the same. Even cultists have reasons for doing the insane shit they do. It has to make sense in some way. 2 - other rewards besides weapons and scrap. Feels weird that _everyone_ on the island just _happens_ to have piles of scrap laying around to pay random saviors with. Perhaps ammo for weapons could be limited, and some quests reward you by marking an ammo cache on your map or something. 3 - a bit more "grounding" on the whole "magical eggs" thing. It just seems like a forced McGuffin for the sake of having a magical McGuffin to serve the plot. Unfortunately, this is how a lot of open-world story games tend to go, because it's impossible to limit the player in an open-world setting without fetch quests. I mean, I like the idea of a *spider* train laying eggs, but the eggs aren't given enough explanation nor do they look spider-y at all (or train-y, for that matter). Has IGN ever been right? I mean, for a long time the best way to know if a game is good is if the gaming review sites hated it. In IGN's case, they basically just 8/10 anyone who pays them or fans are already raving about so they just copy what everyone's already saying.
"It looks great, has a great concept, has solid game [sic], strong horror and action, and doesn't wear itself out" so you're saying it's around a 6 or 7 out of 10? then we minus some points for things like lack of character animation, badly implemented stealth mechanics, short playtime and $20 price tag, and yeah I'd say it works out at roughly 4/5 out of 10. I don't hate this game but you're acting like it's better than it is due to behind the scenes information like the small size of the development team. That's irrelevant to the gameplay experience and IGN's rating system.

I do like a lot of premise decisions here, like, you have a weaponised train which is your main mode of transport and combat, but it can fail and leave you defenseless. The atmosphere of the whole thing is also really good. I think the dev on this could make something pretty spectacular with a team and a budget
“I wish the characters were a little bit more insane.” Vinny said as he finished the game without having talked to all of the npcs. Including the most insane ones.
Yeah Guy's gotta make money some how. Very steep though. I think people can commend the effort regardless while also disagreeing with the price. It doesn't need to be black and white.
I have no idea why Vinny is being so hard on this game. It's awesome for a game made by 1 guy and the dev did the best he could with the software. The game looks and works great!

Regardless this is one of the few to see any kind of public release and I'd say its fairly impressive compared to other one man efforts in the style.
i feel like this kind of falls into the same category as Ayuwoki, where it's a game that would be a 5 or 6/10 game that uses a silly meme monster as a gimmick to get eyes on it. unfortunately the meme monster is a double edged sword because while the game IS getting attention and people are seeing the great work put into it, people are judging it as a comedy game rather than judging it based on the merits of it's novel gameplay concepts or it's use of horror if choo-choo charles had just been a giant spider or a scary lizard, this would've been at least an 8/10 that no one played, but because it's a pretty serious horror game with an unrelated meme character it's dragged down to a 6/10 "pretty cool but not wacky enough" but everyone's playing it
Are you fucking kidding me? Vincent Vinesauce is red vox?! I’ve been listening his music and watching his channel for many years and didn’t know??? I’ve been fucking jamming out to VINNY this WHOLE TIME.

Vinny, this is migratory season for birds (a bit late at this point but still), if you keep your eyes open you might see some interesting birds.. that includes waterfowl :)
I remember someone saying they were teasing a sequel because of a note that talks about "Gus-Bus" and I'm fairly sure it was just a reference to the Benchwarmers with Rob Schneider.
Just gonna be honest, it’s New York and Vinny could probably tell people what building he lives in and it’d probably still take a while to find him, especially because it seems like he has a lizard sleep schedule
I love how they made a game out of a creepy Thomas tank engine model. Like the idea of a sandbox where you use personalized train to move around a gigantic map is neat.
If anyone's looking for the Techlinked video it's on the one called "FBI made apple mad", 3:36 They just used the clip with vinny's AI crust face and it's glorious. Edit: this game has a great atmosphere and looks decent for oneguy running the whole operation.
It really saddens me when I see a lot of people looking at this game with a lens of demeaning expectations. My honest opinion is that the game is fantastic. Maybe its because I make my own video games and I can clearly see that the dev spent hundreds of hours on this project and it looks great for being made by one person. Sure, the textures are rough on manmade objects and the people don't animate when they talk, but that's usually stuff that's handled by other people who practice that stuff. The game clearly tries to run with the joke about thomas being a spooky monster but takes itself seriously enough that you can laugh at the concept while having a good horror experience. It's not like lots of other "joke games" where the joke is just an excuse to release a bad game (such as the jesus game, mobile games, or The Long Drive) I love the concept a ton and it was incredibly well executed, and I personally didn't experience a single bug or glitch while playing the game which I find impressive. I also managed to get about 4 hours of playtime doing all of the sidequests, which I'd say is closer to a 20$ experience for me. I mean no bad will to Vinny for seeing the game the way he did, as I can understand how general audiences view games with a critical eye, especially considering how IGN muddied the water a lot with their (IMO) uncharitable review. Anyways, thanks for reading this.
I was pleasantly surprised at this game being pretty good. Sentient Train Spider and all. Then again there were weird necks, non moving lips, and death stares lol. Either way I did really enjoy watching this. RIP Eugene. Thanks for sharing this madness Vin.

A little more visual polish and some other modes and it'd probably be worth the $20.
Nice to see rail shooters making a comeback. Nyuk nyuk.
Me too, I thought the hype train was gone long ago.
First stream I've managed to get to in a long time- I'm just happy with that alone. Good to feel the Vinny Vinesauce Vibes in real time again.
Really cool game! Raw love definitely went into making it.
this is genuinely such a surprising game in terms of how well its put together. the atmosphere is great, the voice acting and direction is decent, the spider train is horrifying and actually has a passable story reason to exist that isnt just "aaaa spooky train"
looking forward to seeing what else this developer will do
I am willing to bet that the guy who made this game is secretly hoping with all their heart that someone out there makes a mod for it that replaces Charles with Thomas the Tank Engine and plays his theme when Charles approaches.
I'm actually thinking about what Vinny said at the end and hope someone replaces Charles with Alduin.
I have been waiting someone to do this lol
This game has better voice acting than it shoukd
Charles will be an actual Pokémon design in 5 years time.
Type: Bug/Dark
First evolution: Just a small train
Second evolution: Train with spider legs
Third evolution: Choo Choo Charles
Mega-evolution: Hell Charles (type switches to Dark/Electric)
Smogon tier: UU
oh dear lord i think your right...
that is... unless Digimon does it first (they already have a few train monsters, they just need one with spider legs then i guess)
I dont think Vinny's "This cant be worse than the jesus game" is fair. The dude who made this put a ton of work into it making it what he wanted and making sure it all worked well.
The flamethrower is MVP.

I do like a lot of premise decisions here, like, you have a weaponised train which is your main mode of transport and combat, but it can fail and leave you defenseless. The atmosphere of the whole thing is also really good. I think the dev on this could make something pretty spectacular with a team and a budget
“I wish the characters were a little bit more insane.”
Vinny said as he finished the game without having talked to all of the npcs. Including the most insane ones.
Hm, $20 for 2 hours but it’s very competent for just one guy…
Yeah
Guy's gotta make money some how.
Very steep though. I think people can commend the effort regardless while also disagreeing with the price. It doesn't need to be black and white.
Yeah. I'd say about 10 bucks would be okay for a game like this.
Wait until it's on sale is my advice, but I hope the dev keeps making weird and cool shit.
@@vinesauce I kinda want to encourage him tho
@@TrueLadyEvilChan$20 seems rather fair to me. It’s not like he’s charging $60-$70.
I have no idea why Vinny is being so hard on this game. It's awesome for a game made by 1 guy and the dev did the best he could with the software. The game looks and works great!
I think he genuinely let other peoples opinions of this game ruin his experience, like he had such low expectations of the game. A lot of people dislike games solely for the fact that there’s so much hype around it. Like undertale or something
honestly the ending twist is genius
"I'm sorry to compare this to the Jesus game"
Okay has no one realized Choo Choo Charles could be a reference to Stephen King's Charlie the Choo Choo Train?
Pretty sure the dev said on his youtube channel that it is.
That's not real is it
Blaine the pain
@@mercury5003 It is, the dev actually confirmed it in a devlog.
@@polaknasieci1331 no I mean the Stephen King novel. I've never actually read his novels but from an outside perspective it seems as if he would throw darts at a wall to see what he'd write about next. He really seems to like writing horror novels about vehicles and inanimate objects its like hes a parody of himself sometimes.
Love how I started singing that one characters line the exact same time as Vinny lol
Gotta love live chat telling vinny to refund after he completed the game. Yeah cuz the dev doesn't need to eat tonight :)
I cant wait for Vinny to be on the news about this game
That ending blew my mind, no I'm not about the game, I'm talking about Globito the Clown singing reggeaton and Vinny dancing in the background
The question of worst train experience reminds me of the time while 30 minutes into a 3 hour trip to London, I flushed a toilet without putting the lid down and the jet of toilet water hit me directly in the chest so I spent the remainder of the journey smelling of bleach and shame
16:16 Chat was saying Tomar voiced this character. Daryl was actually voiced by Rob Barnett. Don't believe chat's lies.
Look, Tomar, it's not you!
Doesn't even sound like any voice Tomar has ever done. Do not trust chat! Chat is a hive mind of skinwalkers!
Vinny jumping off his garage at 15: Dyaat!
Vinny jumping off his garage at 35: UUOOOAAAAAAAA-UUOAAAAAHH! EhHh! Dundundundunduuuuuun duuuun (ding ding ding ding ding ding)

Apple made the FBI MAD ← *Title name.*

Been waiting for this since Snake hotel not gonna lie, this is so charmingly stupid it circles back around to being kind of genuinely amazing
12:37 "thomas the trank enbine" is the best this i've ever heard
9:08 "HRNN LIQUIIIIIID!"
This was actually a really well made meme game. This developer has quite the potential.
I wasn't aware that this was a streamer bait game, but hey... it was entertaining, and I felt like it was the perfect length.
Streamer bait game?
I still don't get it, like yeah it was played by xqc and other tubers but i still don't get the "bait" part
Its from one of those creator's who used social media to generate interest, "Check out the progress on my solo project called ___ a game about ____" is the style and a couple others have been posting "dev logs" this way. Regardless this is one of the few to see any kind of public release and I'd say its fairly impressive compared to other one man efforts in the style.
@@TheBravery767 that's just a good way to spread word of your project though???
@@TheBravery767 wasnt Subnautica like that?
yesssss, i just found out about the game yesterday and was expecting someone from Vinesauce to play it.
Rev played it before Vinny did :)
I can imagine Joel playing this laughing his ass off while being chased by Charles
Eugene is Jacksepticeye digitally aged 30 years.
This train don’t stop there anymore.
i feel like this kind of falls into the same category as Ayuwoki, where it's a game that would be a 5 or 6/10 game that uses a silly meme monster as a gimmick to get eyes on it. unfortunately the meme monster is a double edged sword because while the game IS getting attention and people are seeing the great work put into it, people are judging it as a comedy game rather than judging it based on the merits of it's novel gameplay concepts or it's use of horror
if choo-choo charles had just been a giant spider or a scary lizard, this would've been at least an 8/10 that no one played, but because it's a pretty serious horror game with an unrelated meme character it's dragged down to a 6/10 "pretty cool but not wacky enough" but everyone's playing it
This feels like the videogame equivalent of a fun B-Movie
You can TF2 damage surf in this game?!? Fucking GOTY goddamn
this game is actually really good for a humble project by one guy but its one fatal flaw is that the monster is named Choo-Choo Charles
it was very pleasing to see that vinny recognized the merit of the flamethrower and used it tactically
I’m willing to bet there are multiple endings, and we missed the NPC that would tell us about the hidden nest…
Misses The Pickle Lady
"I wish the characters were a little bit more insane"
Honestly, pickle lady is a different brand of insane than just regular insanity.
She clearly didn't find the lockpickle to your heart

But can we suplex the train
You can suplex anything, son. You just gotta b e l i e v e.
Just 🌈B E L I E V E 🌈
oh hell yeah the train genre finally has a new entry
The biggest sin was not naming "Warren's Goons" the "Chooligans"
I take pleasure in knowing Vinny doesn't hate his laugh.
Apperantly its really well made and dosent over state it welcome
I used to be excited for We Happy Few before it came out, and I agree, the Cultists definitely remind me of the We Happy Few art style
Are you fucking kidding me? Vincent Vinesauce is red vox?! I’ve been listening his music and watching his channel for many years and didn’t know??? I’ve been fucking jamming out to VINNY this WHOLE TIME.
Lol this is a joke, right? He talks about Red Vox quite a bit in his streams…😂
i was really not expecting this merchandise-bait game to be actually competent?? like there are some genuinely cool gameplay concepts here that you wouldn't really get from anywhere but here without some kind of caveat bc of how specific they are wtf
Vinny, this is migratory season for birds (a bit late at this point but still), if you keep your eyes open you might see some interesting birds.. that includes waterfowl :)
Skipped Swamp monster quest Weirdchamp
So at least two TH-camrs are in agreement that this game is 7.5/10
I remember someone saying they were teasing a sequel because of a note that talks about "Gus-Bus" and I'm fairly sure it was just a reference to the Benchwarmers with Rob Schneider.
Considering the types of games that IGN just gives 7s, 8s and even 9s to, the fact that this got a *four* is borderline criminal
When he said "I'm good - I'm where I want to be" - That made me smile :) 38:00
Just gonna be honest, it’s New York and Vinny could probably tell people what building he lives in and it’d probably still take a while to find him, especially because it seems like he has a lizard sleep schedule
I love how they made a game out of a creepy Thomas tank engine model. Like the idea of a sandbox where you use personalized train to move around a gigantic map is neat.
"The TH-cam Bait Express" Made me laugh way too much
Ah yes, with a surprise cameo by Scottish FOV Guy
Thanks Milton for making such a cool game
I found this vid in my feed, but its not appearing on the Full Sauce channel video tab. a bug I guess?
This is genuinely surprisingly competent? I'm not sure how I feel about that. Good on you, Dev!
I feel like I recognize the Ringo lookin dudes voice actor, I’m guessing whoever the dev was asked some TH-camrs who do voice acting too?
The creator of the game said about doing a free update that will add more missions and locations.
The sequel bait ending better be followed up on
The sequel bait ending better be followed up on
If anyone's looking for the Techlinked video it's on the one called "FBI made apple mad", 3:36
They just used the clip with vinny's AI crust face and it's glorious.
It's not like lots of other "joke games" where the joke is just an excuse to release a bad game (such as the jesus game, mobile games, or The Long Drive)
I love the concept a ton and it was incredibly well executed, and I personally didn't experience a single bug or glitch while playing the game which I find impressive.
8:02 "OMG hes dead!"
*shoots him to make sure*
It's really cool that this video is MISSING from your channels "Recently uploaded" page.
I think youtube is disassembling itself recently.
Wtf you’re right. I just refreshed the page and it’s fuckin GONE. It was still there when I began watching the video.
I was pleasantly surprised at this game being pretty good. Sentient Train Spider and all. Then again there were weird necks, non moving lips, and death stares lol. Either way I did really enjoy watching this. RIP Eugene. Thanks for sharing this madness Vin.
2:01 That's often how PlayWay SA (and studios under their umbrella) do business.
Vinny never found the witch or the pickle person
the two best ones too
Damn. For once I'm excited to see Vinny okay a horror game i kinda wanted this to be a series but eh XD. Ik glad he looked at it
7:34 Now that it's been mentioned, Spirit Tracks stream when?
For a one dev game this is incredibly well polished, I'm very interested in seeing more!
Such a silly game concept done really well. The animations are seriously polished too. Hope the creator continues making games, he could be pretty successful
I’ll be waiting for that Red Vox “Egg in the mine” song
