Wonderful video and excellent capture of details inside the locomotive, the stations, the token exchang, the reversals as well as the classic lowe and upper quadrant semaphore signals turning up and down.
Thank you for your comment. I tried to capture the ambience of the whole experience (but this has made the film a little too long perhaps), and filming on the footplate was a bit of a challenge with a full size video camera in a confined space! Glad you enjoyed it!
Ahh, good old fashioned semaphores. We don't have those in Canada anymore, but this is the beauty of them. They don't simply tell whether the tracks are clear by color; it's also whether the arm is raised or lowered.
Very nice video. Only done a short ride on 34081 a long while ago (invited by the crew). I am not allowed on the footplate whilst it is moving as I am only an ordinary person (and could never afford to do it). I have been on footplates but only been allowed on there by permission of the crew whilst it is stood still.
Lovely video! Just like being there. Thanks for all the different views! Cracking Good, mate! And no, a footplate video this fine can't be too long :-) :-) :-)
@@RailFlicks yes it can! That was my point exactly😃 Driver, controls, fireman, lineside scenery, boiler gauges, passing trains, line signals, water towers, fabulous stack talk, forward views, backward views, dripping spectators, flaming coals on the grate, platform run-bys, even the rain -- it's all there. My feet feel cold and wet just watching🤣
I agree. Sorry I don't have very much control over the adverts TH-cam places on my videos. My options are kept to the minimum, but as a video's popularity grows YT adds more and breaks! I don't like it much either, and I make virtually no money from it.
Some a class operation going on here hello from America although I know y’all probably don’t like us I want to say I’m designing and building a brand new class of steam engine based off British design
@@RailFlicks ok so I’m still designing a lot of it but here’s what has been decided on the locomotive will run a 4-8-2 configuration with a 4 cylinder 2 outside 2 internal design featuring the walsharts valve gear still figuring out how to time the 4th cylinder work in progress the boiler will be welded steel like the boiler on peppercorn a1 tornado but the boiler won’t be standard because it will be a high pressure boiler based off naval steam ships which is something sir Nigel gresley was experimenting with before ww2 broke out and could have been the next evolution in steam locomotive which is why I’ll be using one like that the 2 trailing axles will be simi articulated to help nagotiat curves the loco will also feature a double blast pipe chimney like that on the mallard a4 the class is to be named forester mixed traffic it will be a stream lined engine the engine running number 10809 will be named star dancer that is all the info I can give for now unfortunately as the rest of the design is still be decided on once it’s finished the design faze we will be starting the forester class trust fund faze to start building her yours truly the only current rep for the project if you have any other questions down the line I’d be happy to awnser
I think he means that by the time the 9F's were introduced, moves were already afoot to rid Britain of steam engines, and they had short lives. Many believe that if the introduction of this powerful machine had come a little earlier to the steeply graded Somerset & Dorset Railway, it could have saved the line from closure, just one example. So in effect their potential was 'wasted'.

She’s a beautiful engine
That was beautiful, thank you.
A 9F looking really nice there like it is really doing its job of work
I enjoyed every moment of your video. It felt like I was right in the cab for the whole journey.
Edited it this way for my own memories primarily, so very pleased others are enjoying it too. Many Thanks 😊
Excellent. Very enjoyable video to watch.
Thanks Victor. Was a lot of hours work.
Hopefully more to come.
Great Video
Thanks!

These experience rides can be a bit pricey, mine was given as a present. I would certainly do it again though if I could stump up the cash...
I love the steam loco.
This is cool, even more so because i might actually be doing this soon!
You're gonna love it! Enjoy! And thanks for your comment.👍

Thanks for your kind comment. I have to say I'm rather surprised at the number of views it's attracted! Can't all be down to my camera work!!

no audio?
Should be there, works for me!
I never realised how coal hungry they are - that fireman works very hard ....
Only up hill! ⏫ 🙃
Too many adverts, sorry not for me.

Download the 'Brave browser' and you'll never have to sit through a YT advert again on any channel. Just a wee tip....

@@RailFlicks I agree. More useful on a steam locomotive than gloves.
