I was running short on time today, so replaced my fan without removing the O2 sensor, heat shield or anything. I used a BIG pry bar to bend the fan to get it by the O2 sensor and wire. Don't blame me if yours breaks. :D Thanks to all the details of this and a couple other vids it actually went pretty smooth. Thank you Guy!!! The dealer wanted $600 to replace. I bought new Mopar off ebay for $140 w/free shipping.

This was pretty good. Make sure you make enough room to pull out the radiator fan. If you don’t you’ll bang around too much and do some damage to the radiator fins

quick tip, zip tie the fan and shroud together, remove the back plate, which is 3 screws t-25 bit , the zip ties will keep it together,, you will not have a clearance problem at all, no forcing the plastic or bending the shroud, , easy money

I think you said you didn't have to remove the O2 sensor then later on said you tightened it really well, did you remove it?

Luckily mine was covered under warranty! Dealer also replaced a blown 40 amp fan fuse with a 50 amp.

They say you shouldn’t be removing the oxygen sensor for this. Having any issues with it so far? Or you have to put something on the threads when you put it back on. They say the threads will melt down if you remove the oxygen sensor or something because it gets so hot. So I am guessing maybe let it cool down a few days? Also that metal cover on the new fan assembly you think it was a heat shield perhaps? I heard that these fans are melting inside the motor because of the extreme heat of the engine. If you still have the old fan can you take it apart and see if it’s melted up inside the motor? Another guy in TH-cam did this and that thing was melted out. That’s why these things are breaking down.

Whats the cause of this problem ? Does that mean I'm going to have to replace the fan every so often?
