The only video that tells you to go through the wheel well, which I figured out myself after struggling from the top, now, this is the first video I see recommended when I sign on to TH-cam, thanks for nothing youtube.
Not only did your video show me how to do the belt but I could also see exactly where the oil pressure sensor/switch is which is the next project. Thanks liked and subscribed!
Okay I did this repair yesterday. The instructions and walkthrough on the different pullys was definitely informative. The only thing I would add would be the last bit when you go to put the new belt on, the service manual has the belt coming from the bottom attaching to the idler pulley. For the life of me I could not get it to finally wrap around the idler pulley. So what I did was take it off. Wedge the screw into the opening with the idler on it, applied blue thread locker (it came with red) and then used the tensioner to two-step the belt onto the correct pulley. After that it was all about screwing using a drill until the screw was flush and in there. Torqued to 16ft lbs. Appreciate the video! Couldn't have done it without you.
It's almost the same for a 2018 Compass. No Phillips screws, but 8 mm screws and 10 mm plastic nuts. I changed the idler pully. That's 13 mm. The factory put red threadlocker on that bolt. It's a long one!! Use an extension on your power driver to make it through that metal tab in front of it. Thanks for the video, it helped!!
Awesome vid and a great camera angle. One question though, I'm a bit of a novice but would love to learn, how about setting timing after replacing that belt?
Hey buddy, excellent video, loved it!! Now in case that you need to replace your water pump, so you happen to know what the torque specs are for the water pump.bolts and the pulley? Thanks in advance for your response.!!! 😁👍
Are all the pulleys supposed to move freely while car is off? I had a loud squealing noise so I replaced my alternator and belt, but the noise continued. I took the belt back off so try and spin each pulley but the crank shaft seems jammed in place. Could this be the issue?
@@603Mechanicvids yessir that’s exactly what it was. A bad idler pulley. Imagine spending all day replacing what you were told was a bad alternator and belt while all along it was the $25 idler pulley that took 10 minutes to change. Whatta day 😂
@@603Mechanicvids sorry to hear that! Maybe you'd be able to answer my question if thats ok. As far as you know do I need to replace the whole lower control arm?
@@MattTelepenko no you don't need to replace the whole control arm, the lower ball joint can be removed just by removing the 3 bolts holding it in place
@louispabon1077 Thanks, I already have a video for the alternator replacement, go to my channel and go to the jeep renegade Playlist there's lots of other videos as well
usually they'll start squealing or start to have a wobble when they've gone bad. you can also inspect the surface of the pulleys where the belt would ride on it for any damage
I found that you can just remove the two 10mm nuts and pull the snap pop and pull the splash guard back to change the belt you do not have to remove the whole splash guard . I found it to be faster.

greatly appreciated 👍
Thanks for sharing, you made that look really easy. I'm gonna watch this at least 2-3 more times and attempt changing my belt this weekend lol
No problem glad I can help out, you will have no issues changing yours its easy just follow the video 👍
Thank you for your help! I almost gave up today changing my alternator. I tried not to loosen it too much but it just fell out of place.

Thanks for this video. I'm more confident about replacing mine now.
You explained it very well! Good camera work
Straight to the point VERY INFORMATIVE thank you
Thanks for the info. It was helpful to see the installation and handing the tensioner.
Thank your video is so helpful.
Awesome vid and a great camera angle. One question though, I'm a bit of a novice but would love to learn, how about setting timing after replacing that belt?
thanks, so you don't set the timing with your serpentine belt you would have to get into where the timing chain is

How is it done on a 1.4 turbo
Awesome and right on point!!!👍💯🔥🔥🔥

the crank pulley will not move easy you'd need alot of leverage to turn it since it has to move all the internals of the engine
sounds like you have a bad pulley bearing. possibly your idler or tensioner pulleys

Love this. Thanks so much. Is there any chance you could do a video on replacing the ball joints on a renegade?
no problem glad I could help out, I definitely will once I get my hands on a renegade again. ours got totalled 2 months ago

How would i know if i should change any of the pulleys? Or what should i be looking for if any needs to be changed out?

@@603Mechanicvids mines just started squeeling when accelerating. So I'll have to check it out, Thanks for responding
Thank you for the video, helped out a lot
Thank you!
Would this be same for 2018 compass
yes it should be very similar to the renegade
What year range will this be the same? You did not state in your video.other than that, great camera work and explaination
Thanks, and any of the year renegades with the 2.4l engine
Is it 6PK2004 or 6PK2005 number for compass 2020?
Thank you so much for your video.
Thank you for this video
Same for all year Renegades??
yes as long as its the 2.4
I was looking for what yr. The jeep is but couldn't find anywhere.
Can you tell me the yr. Range this video applies to.thanks
Does this vehicle not have power steering ?
they do but its not a hydraulic system like older vehicles, the renegades have the electric power steering system
Very nice it makes the belt much easier than my 2016 compass
When do you change this
I recommend between 80k - 100k, but if the belt squeals from slipping, has cracks or its fraying you want to change it asap
I found that you can just remove the two 10mm nuts and pull the snap pop and pull the splash guard back to change the belt you do not have to remove the whole splash guard . I found it to be faster.
