Looking forward to the pantry challenge. You are awesome. Thank you for sharing your shopping, gardening, cooking, canning etc.
Everything is so super expensive, I am looking forward to this pantry challenge! I hope to be moving to our very country retirement home, I don’t want a lot of freezer food to move!!!!❤❤❤ love your video
I just found your channel and I love it! Looking forward to the pantry challenge! Happy New Year!🎉🎉
You have a very well stocked pantry to begin the pantry challenge! I’m excited to see all the meals you come up with in the next two months.
Your husband “Samples” had me cracking up 🤣. My husband does the same. Great video….
Glad to have found your channel! Happy New Year! 🎉
I love the old trucks in the garage. My husband was in the car scene for years. He grew up in Detroit area. Love to watch tour haul. I am gearing up for the pantry challenge as well.
I just stumbled across your channel, and I love what I see so far. And let me say, those trucks in your garage...😮...I am in LOVE with those, and all I got to see was the tops of them...lol
Happy New Year. Excited for the videos during pantry challenge. They are always so much fun and so full of information ❤
Did you not get bothered by the fact that the husband put the bagels on a random shelf and didn’t go put them back in the bakery just so they can make money to film inside Costco but yet they don’t care about Costco‘s dollar by putting the bagels on a random shelf, totally unacceptable. I think we should all say something
@@annetodd6098Nope!
Good morning! I hope you had an amazing Christmas!
Just found you b/c of the pantry challenge. I’m sure you’ll LOVE using fresh milled wheat, but be prepared to do things a bit differently. I switched to FMW about a year ago and can’t imagine ever going back, but had to relearn some baking techniques. Grains in Small Places is my favorite YT channel and website for recipes and techniques. I was just telling a friend today… when you switch to fresh milled, you need to change your expectations. The texture and flavor is going to be different than with store bought flour; outstanding but different.
And your tummy soothers taste like licorice because of the fennel seed. I grow fennel and save the seeds to chew/swallow for heartburn; almost always provides instant relief.
I’ve heard great things about grains in small places website. I’ll have to check out the TH-cam channel. I am really excited to start this journey. Also I had no idea about the fennel seeds. I will see if maybe I can grow some this year. I love the taste of licorice ( that’s probably why I love the tummy soothers lol)
I have the same exact old praying man picture!!!! I love it❤
A fun project for Jan and feb
I am doing the pantry challenge as well. I have been grinding my own flour since 2018 I don’t buy flour anymore. You will love making your own flour . I just store wheat. I love spelt for my bagels. I have an impact mill work’s great
I am excited to start. I should have my mill in a couple days 😁
You can freeze milk and cream cheese, as well as regular cheese.
Spelt is our favorite wheat to grind we use it for everything
Just a suggestion - baking powder is so simple to make, 1 tsp of cream of tartar mixed with 1/2 tsp baking soda. You can easily scale up or down and the lift you get is astounding. I used to use the canned but after using this recipe, I will never gi back. Since you're making it fresh every time, there is no worry about it not working.
Awesome, I am going to write this down. I had no idea I could make it myself. Thank you 😊
Enjoyed the video 😊
Kamut is my favorite grain! I have been using a kitchen aid attachment which is cheaper than buying a separate grain mill!
I have that attachment and not sure I like it. I want to like it bc like you said, it’s a much cheaper option. Maybe I haven’t practiced enough to learn how to make bread with fresh milled wheat. I’m glad to see someone likes it…that gives me hope!
@@brandibizzle3676I want to invest in a grain mill eventually, because the attachment does have its downsides. For example, if I want super fine flour, I mill the grains twice. Right now the attachment is sufficient for my needs and a nice gateway to using wheat berries.
@@Kourtnie_Marie I didn’t realize I could send it back through the mill! Thank you for letting me know that
@ no problem!
I love the beautiful blue/ grey color of your kitchen. Do you remember the color and brand of it? I would love to use that color in my kitchen❤
I wish I remembered the color name. We painted our whole house in it. I looked in my garage and it looks like we got rid of the paint cans. We got it from Lowe’s.
@ oh no that’s not good especially if you need to touch up paint. I did that with one of my paint colors in my house and now I need to touch up but I don’t remember the color name🤦🏻♀️
I'm excited to do a 2 month pantry challenge too!! I have a nutrimill, it's wonderful. You forgot to include the wine lol😂
I can’t wait to try my new mill. And I 100% forgot to mention the wine 🤣 It’s actually not for drinking, I am making and canning a red wine jelly with it for my daughter.
@sparkmanhomestead yum! I hope you make a video of it. Happy new year!
You NEED a griddle! Love mine.
If you’re considering the nutrimil brand of flour mill consider purchasing now. They have announced they’re increasing their prices, I think after the first. I have their classic mill and have had it for years. It’s a great product. Their wood ones are beautiful but the classic is very functional.
PS When you said you can’t trust ingredients I laughed as I say the same thing to my hubby all the time.
Did it not bother you that the husband just took the bagels and put them on a random shelf that’s totally unacceptable just so they can make money to fill in Costco. They should be more respectful. Those bagels will get ruined or another employee will have to take time to go put them back.
@ take a deep breath. It’s going to be ok. ❤️
I purchased the classic one also. They had them $50 off and thought it’s probably best to get it while on sale. I didn’t know they were increasing in cost so definitely glad i bought it now. It should be here in the next couple days and I can’t wait to use it !
@@sparkmanhomestead oh good. You’ll love milling grains.
Curious if you actually save money doing the pantry challenge? Do you add the cost of the stock up shops when you calculate etc.?
This year is the 1st year I am tracking the savings. I’ve wondered in the past how much it was working and this year I am going to track it.
$11.89 for 20 almond tortillas? Get outta here, Costco! Just did a big stock up of staple items from grocery store and Amazon and the challenge is how long I can stretch it all through 2025 as a single person. For first 3 months of 2025 I am setting my grocery/eating out budget down to $50/month. I'll just need some fresh produce - maybe some coffee. I think being more aware of want vs. need in the store and buying zero processed/added sugar junk helps you budget and your health.
Things are pretty inexpensive compared to prices here in Quebec, Canada.
It may be a regional thing, but why do you say, "I'll get these one's" instead of just "I'll get these"? I've noticed someone on another channel does the same. I like your channel though.
Not sure, I am originally from Canada and I have lived in many different regions across Canada and the US so I have picked up lots of varieties of speech lol 😂 this most likely is a Canadian thing though.
So basically she’s not really doing the challenge
Wow I was excited to watch your channel, but once I started, and I saw your husband put the bagels back on the shelf and not put them back in the bakery. I am totally upset and will not watch your channel or support it. Why would you not take it back and put it in the right place so Costco doesn’t have to do the work and the food could get ruined also you can make money off of Costco by fillingtotal lack of integrity.
Bye anne we wont miss you
You’re right, Anne, that was disrespectful. I decided I would just forgive him instead of throwing a fit about it. Hope you can move on about it.
You don’t see the whole picture when I cut stuff out in editing 😉 but I do appreciate your honesty
Anne! I seriously hope that was your attempt at humor 🤭 if not? Bye Bye! Good riddance!
🙄good lord! It’s not like he put frozen food on a regular shelf. Use your energy on something important than to type such a post.
