- The prime minister and his Labour challenger argued their case to lead the UK in the first televised debate of the general election campaign. Throughout the hour-long programme on ITV, Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn were asked questions on key issues including Brexit, the NHS and the economy, ahead of the 12 December poll

Alain James the NHS is in a mess thanks to migration. Privatisation is the only thing we need.
Pat Terson the treatment his a hell of a lot better in the US. Okay it’s not the best idea but it is better than the NHS, you will be seen quicker and you’re more likely to come out alive. We found out exactly who The Guardian really represent when Corbyn became Labour leader and he ended up alone with only the support of the online base of youth he had engaged and motivated (which in itself tells you how genuine he is, despite all the smear campaigns it was actually amazing to see that the younger generation were intelligent enough to do what ppl usually do not do which is to focus on the CONTENT instead of the popularity/charisma contest. I just couldn't understand how someone like Corbyn who seemed to embody values supposedly championed by The Guardian was so shunned and dismissed, people are so sick of the faceless Yes men/women infesting politics but the Guardian showed they where in actual fact more interested in preserving the power of the status quo because when at last - after years of middle ground blandness - we had the chance to elect someone who would have radically and positively given opportunity and made life better for those who need it most in our society, someone who offered a route to real and positive change, but there was a conspicuous silence from the Guardianista champaign socialists.
As Jeremy points out we are the 5th richest nation in the world, some of the conditions on this island are shameful, he was a rare specimen, he does know what its like he has been there face to face walking the streets as an MP for decades, he might not be Mr T.V Friendly Charisma but he was the real deal and his manifesto was the best chance we had to make things better for a long time. @Bunny Spangle Politics is the facade that provides ideological justifications for military aggression. Military aggression is the way countries claim more resources so they can satisfy the billionaires who want more places to build coco cola plants etc. There has been a lot of brilliant research on the Iraq war that has looked at what bringing "democracy" to Iraq meant. It's funny, it seems to have meant a lot of private companies crushing the local Iraqi industry and the US making it illegal for the Iraqi government to make decisions about their own economy, including giving help to local agriculture (see the 100 Orders / Bremer Code).
