Today my crew and I tackle a huge project. We did a major clean up for one of our customers. Which included removing every single tree an bush around the whole property as well as stump grinding everything in sight. We tackled hundreds if not thousands of bamboo which were atleast 30 ft tall. My crew was able to knock everything out in one day. It was a very difficult removal as well as time consuming but we got it all knocked out! I appreciate anyone who took their time to watch the video!

When I was a kid (1960's) we had bamboo growing wild in our backyard. It was great. We made all kinds of crap out of bamboo.

my grandmother has a large amount of bamboo gorwing in her backyard its basically a wild life preserve she refuses to cut it and i have told her as soon as she dies im having someone come out and strip the entire yard bare and kill everything cause its growing in the surrounding neighbors yards and they are pissed, one neighbor is even starting to file a lawsuit against her.

Appreciate the comment. Yeah working on getting more of just the regular sound. The timelapse mode removes the original sounds thats why I place music instead of silence. Definitely looking into something different. Thanks for the comment.

Great job lads, 2 observations. 1/ it sure exposed the view into the neighbours. 2/ no matter how much you ground those bambo stumps, I bet the owner will be dealing with bamboo regrowth for years. 😬

Good point Robert. We have to deal with bamboo growing through from our neighbour's garden. We can't eradicate it just keep it at bay. The method that I have learnt is to cut each stem and quickly spray it with vinegar.
@@Tree_Boss the trick is to let it grow tall, but cut it before it can recover energy from photosynthesis. Let it waste itself on trying to grow culms. Takes a few seasons, but it's a reliable, poison free method.

Get a 60+cc bush cutter with 40 tooth disc! It'll cut bamboo just like an overgrown grass. 🙂

Thank You for posting this video, looks like alot of work. I have often thought working on a crew such as yours would be the ideal job for someone, like me, who likes to salvage wood to turn on the lathe and find cuttings for propagating trees.

Im glad you noticed! I would break the bamboo in half at first with the tree. Then I would give it one final break with the tree as well so it would not rub on the garage. By doing that I was able to drag it right into the chipper. Thanks for taking the time to watch!

Thank you! We try our best to grind as much as we can but before we start the job we let the customer know. Bamboo is extremely hard to get rid of. He will need to keep it maintained so it doesn't grow out of control again. Your 100% rite but our part is just to get rid of everything and to remove as much as we can of the root. Any issues for the chipper because of the bamboo containing silica? Any further work on the bamboo rhizomes? Otherwise they'll be back with vengeance after 2-3 years.

Oh boy, that bamboo is not dead. It'll be back by summer next year.
It is crazy to see the trunks of dead trees hanging in the bamboo thicket like an impaled enemy.
Bambi will come back.they need to dig the roots up to stop them.

They're great! I wouldn't recommend growing any but as decoration they're great! Appreciate the comment.
MAN! That's a lot of bamboo! I'm here up north, and my bamboo gets up to maybe 6' or 7' before the winter season stops the growth cycle and kills the existing stalks. Rinse, repeat, and the cycle starts all over again next year. Although, every year those horizontal root systems are spreading to other areas if left unchecked. These things are a pain in the grass.

Some unsolicited advice on removing bamboo. Use a powerful stihl brushcutter with a tungsten sawblade . Lasts two days still sharp and one man would keep the loader flat out. I did a quarter acre 50 mm poles in two days with just two of us and a hansa mulcher
That bamboo is hard to get rid off totally need an excavator in there to dig all the roots up even at that it may come back in places big job you’ve done ,nature is not long in taking over mate ,jimmy Australia
Your 100% rite. Bamboo is super difficult to completely get rid of. Instead of excavating what we did was pass the stump grinder around the whole area that had the bamboo. You can watch that in the video uploaded rite after this one where we also remove the trees left over. We are hoping that by grinding all the roots and cleaning the area up will help it hopefully not grow. But like you said its hard to get rid of it even after doing all that it still might come back up in certain spots.

I agree Jimmy, I guess it depends on why the trees/bamboo were being removed, certainly a lot of work gone into the clearing and that process is not cheap, however without all roots being removed most of that stuff, especially the bamboo will be back and maintenance in the meantime will be a nightmare. cheers

If the Bamboo was thicker. It could be Sold to Flooring Manufacture Company. Bamboo really needs to be grown ALOT more. Shame that you had to cut it all down. Other then the Dead Tree. Did Not see a Single Problem with what was on land at all. Guessing new home owners that are very young and want alot of space for Partying

Why is bamboo such a bad plant? I live in Montana ,and know nothing about this plant. You and your crew are real professionals.
Appreciate the comment. Bamboo is a great if your going to be harvesting it since it grows very easily. It can be used for tons of things. The bad is that it will basically grow any where even in places you dont want it. People have completely removed it even with roots an some how for some it grows back. There is a couple home remedies ive heard of but havent tried. We deal with it here an there out here in Jersey. Not much but when we do its usually because its already out of control. Its tough clogs chippers etc completely destroyed our blades on the chipper. Leaving them un usable haha thanks for watching!

@@Tree_Boss during the winter months i harvest bamboo locally @ $5 a bundle i turn around with roughly $25 of material and make fishing poles threw the winter months come next year i sell them for $10 each and normally sell well over 500 so you can do some math and roughly guess how much i make lol you would also be surprised if you sat there and sold bushels of the stuff for hobby crafts.
I have a whole backyard of it you can have 😂

to fully rid bamboo you have to know how it works and use it against itself. stiffle its growth by using how it grows. it takes a minimum of 4 years to get it to "d!e" honestly. and daily working on it to make sure its not less than a foot in growth if you decide to tackle it with chemicals. so many factors. People really dont think when they plant invasive and awful.

Have you ever thought about giving the bamboo leaves to an animal/guineapig rescue or shelter? The guineapigs love the leaves and it would certainly help the rescues.

Those Bamboos are a good materials for many things if you how to work on it, but it's very simple..you can do many things from Bamboo...they all went to waste...not completely..😊

Nasty bamboo pal. Clog after clog equals slow production.
Just some fyi: In the service we had to shred classified paper/documents and fed 12 to 16 inch scraps of 1x4 or 1 x6 or 2x4,6 wood in shredder every 5-10 minutes. Kinda like clearing your throat of flem if ya know what I mean?? Food for thought with the bamboo clogs if ya haven't already tried it. Good luck👍👍👍
Man I've been running that shredder comment around my head all day. Makes 100% sense now. Run a nice peice of wood once in a while to clean up the shoot. Instead of just the bamboo at all times. Sounds like a great idea. Appreciate the feedback! Thank you

Bamboo never dies, customer didnt need to save a few stalks, in a year or 2 he will have the whole yard full of it again, stuff spreads like wild fire, neighbors probably have it showing up in their yard already. Dont think they have found a way to actually kill it yet. Im living the nightmare as we speak. You cut it to the ground and it laughs at you :)

@@Tree_Boss Yea the older couple who lived here before me were really into planting all kinds of things, most are great now that they are 20/30 years old, I'm so glad they did. But the bamboo was a big mistake, I have about 3 different types, from gigantic, to 1 inch, its a mess, the roots spread like wild fire, I also live in Florida, so it likes the weather. But you can build stuff out of it.
@@charlesmiller7861 Wow that sounds insane! Especially in Florida I can imagine it grows even faster out there! Yeah a lot of people recommended a bunch of stuff that could have been made with the poles. All sorts of stuff.
Why did you wrap ropes around sections of bamboo connect it to the loader then cut the section and pull it out with the machine I thought it would of been easier and faster but idk never have cut bamboo just curious?
Great idea! But it was a bit difficult since the peices were so long and we had the garage to worry about. Might have worked better not sure but getting in the bamboo to set the line around them would most likely be a pain but not sure lol appreciate you taking the time to comment!

How many times did chipper clog? Bamboo is a pain going thru chipper pretty much shreds bamboo instead of chipping or mulch
Suprisingly it only got clogged on very last peice of bamboo lol no lie literally the last bit of it got stuck. Completely destroyed the blades tho! Left them un usable scarred up the wheel to was a whole mess definitely not recommended haha but we got it done
A great job, pity not to find some use for the bamboo, even if only to let it die and dry, and use is for supporting new plants.

Yeah your 100% rite if you dont remove the roots it will definitely grow back. In this situation here we stump grinded everything hoping to get rid of it. The customer will need to maintain it to hopefully one day get completely rid of it.
Made the mistake of planting some bamboo. Much work getting rid of it.

Thank you! The freightliner is actually a 2001 we were luckily able to get it at a good price very good condition. Could use some tlc now since we bring it out basically everyday haha and the bed actually came with the truck so not to sure but the roof actually has a removal section an all love the look of it bed. @@Tree_Boss I love ours, we just bought a 2000 fl70 dump truck automatic, had to drive 11 hour round trip to get it but well worth it. I now like it more than our international trucks.
@@LetsDoItandReviewIt Oh yeah? How's the automatic? We usually stick with manuals but would definitely be cool to drive one. One of our first trucks was an international that still runs great till this day. You can probably catch it in certain videos.

So how do you get rid of bamboo so it don't come back ...yoù said the recycling site won't take it....
Found out later that a lot places actually do take the bamboo. The only real way to get rid of the bamboo is to completeley get rid of the root. Which is sometimes impossible. In this situation since there was so much of it. We let the customer know that he is going to need to maintain it if not it will grow again. Bamboo is one of the most difficult thing to stop from growing. Heard a lot of home remedies to get rid of it. What we did was grind all the roots an clean everything up but it still might come back.

They understood they would need to keep maintaining it. We completely grinded all the roots in hopes of making it minimal work for them. Appreciate the comment

suggestion (storage warning) why not film in real time allong side the timelapse? ok yeah it will take a lot more storage and effort on the filming but you will have the original sound (you can easily warp speed this in the editor if required) and deffiently lower music volume (less is sometimes more as they say) ... oh you may need to contact a Linus Tech Tips or Gamers Nexus to help set up a good storage solution for the footage.

The best way to kill bamboo is to cut it down then fertilize it, when the little green shoots appear spray it with kerosene. From Australia

first time viewer: I enjoyed watching the work being done to clear the lot. I would prefer no music, much less pointing and explaining the work to be done, less video of inside truck cab. The part that was sped up was way too fast, it made me dizzy. I hope this is helpful input.

The only way would be getting rid of all the roots completely. We stump grinded the whole area but the customers might still need to maintain it since it was so much some might still come back up. Appreciate you watching!
Spray it with Glyphosate. Every time you see a shoot start to leaf out, spray it. Do that for about 3 to 4 years and it will eventually die.
Bamboo, kudzu, and juniper are my least favorites lol. Just a pain in the neck to work with and remove.

Set my bamboo on fire then till up the roots remove as much as I could and kept tilling every couple of weeks finally getting rid of it. Green bamboo will burn.

Just our regular climbing saws. It definitely eats up the chain for sure also destroys the blades on the chipper. With this much bamboo you basically cant avoid it but we sharpen the teeth regularly during jobs so its not to bad. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!

This was an amazing job to watch, but the volume of your music was so much louder than your voice that I had to keep changing the volume.
