Renyo was one that always puzzled me. Why would they grab…but after doing several repetitions in a row at speed the answer came. In the demos the kick to the kick is always under performed so the grab makes no sense. But when actually executed, the kick disrupted the opponents balance to the point he grabs to keep from falling…it happens naturally. That was an aha moment. Most people fail,to break the balance
These techniques were designed to to used by people wearing samurai armour against other people wearing the same amour & also carrying several different weapons - they are not useful or appropriate on the street today.
