- BATWOMAN'S MARGUERITE BENNETT & SUICIDE SQUAD'S GIUSEPPE CAFARO TEAM FOR NEW WITCHBLADE LAUNCH THIS JULY
This new vision for the iconic, supernatural thriller promises a contemporary spin that's True Detective meets Berserk by way of Zodiac vibes
LOS ANGELES 05/09/2024 - Top Cow Productions will reimagine the iconic, Image classic, Witchblade as a new series set to launch this July. This new Witchblade #1 will be penned by New York Times bestselling writer Marguerite Bennett (Animosity, Batwoman, DC Bombshells), drawn by fan-favorite artist Giuseppe Cafaro (Suicide Squad, Power Rangers, Red Sonja) and will be published by Image Comics.
The creative duo will work closely with Top Cow CEO, Image Comics co-founder, and original Witchblade co-creator, Marc Silvestri. Together, the team will reintroduce the this popular action-packed, crime noir series to longtime die-hard fans and new readers alike. This forthcoming Witchblade #1 will feature a reimagined origin, with contemporary takes on familiar characters, as well as fresh story arcs to hook new fans and rekindle the energy and excitement that fueled the '90s Image Revolution.
“The ability to tell a story full of monsters, sexuality, vision, and history was irresistible,” said Bennett. “Our saga is sleek, vicious, ferocious, and has a lot to say about power in the 21st century and will be the first time that we are stopping the roller coaster to let more people on. I’ve loved Witchblade since I was a child, and there is truly no other heroine like Sara with such an iconic legacy and such a rich, brutal relationship to her own body.”
In Witchblade #1, New York City Police Detective Sara Pezzini's life is forever fractured by her father's murder. Cold, cunning, and hellbent on revenge, Sara now stalks a vicious criminal cabal beneath the city, where an ancient power collides and transforms her into something wild, magnificent, and beyond her darkest imaginings. How will Sara use this ancient power? ...Or will she be consumed by it?
Through last year’s Witchblade Complete Collection Kickstarter, the world received a glimpse of Silvestri’s Witchblade armor redesign. But now a whole new universe has been created by Cafaro to go with it. “The Witchblade universe is being modernized to reflect how Marguerite beautifully explores the extreme sides of Sara through memories, her personal thoughts, like desire and hunger, in her solitude and when she is possessed by the Witchblade," said Cafaro. "So, I had to visually intersect a noir True Detective-like world with a supernatural, horror world that is a fantastic mix between Berserk and Zodiac!”
Silvestri added: “This is brand new mythology around Sara, and I can’t wait for you to fall in love with her and all the twists and turns. Discover Witchblade reimagined this summer, and join us as we bring all the fun of the '90s to the modern age and see how exciting comics can be. I can’t wait for you to read this new series.”
Witchblade #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, July 17, at only $4.99 for 48 pages. The Final Order Cutoff deadline for comic shop retailers is Monday, June 24:

I love the original run! Michael Turner is still one of my favorite artists ever. RIP.
Will give this a shot.
Great run for sure. There is no other like Michael Turner. But, we hope you will give the new series a shot! :)
@@lisawu7788 Oh 100%!
Witchblade and Darkness deserve to be back!
All we need is the return of The Darkness comics, Cyber force comics, and Youngblood comics.
Hi there! The Darkness is coming back in 2025 with Marc Silvestri writing it! But, The Darkness and Witchblade are part of a shared universe, so be sure to pick up Witchbalde!
Thank you.
That's really what?
I want jackie estecado
no chance youngblood is ever coming back they already tried and failed
@@Midnightv He's coming back in 2025 with Marc Silverstri writing it. But I have a feeling just like the original Witchblade series Jackie Estacado The Darkness will pop up as they share a connected universe. After all the original Witchblade series introduced The Darkness.
Let’s hope it’s as good as it sounds
It is fantastic. The art is fantastic...There are some real cool spreads in #2. Can't wait for you to read it!
I hope that sara returns like witchblade, i love that classic.
For Good Sake! This art looks Rooock!!!🪨🪨🪨
Giuseppe Cafaro is an incredible artist. So dynamic. So much energy. The perfect comic art style for this book!
crazy that image let witchblade stay dead for so many years after that disaster that was the last run
TV show was pretty good.
This looks so rad here, guys! I have never collected the title Witchblade! Bring on the worst villains that you have stored up for Witchblade! I enjoyed watching good vs evil!
Soooo excited for this. Been pumped since it was first announced, and now it's so close. Let's Go Sara!!!!!
As a person that knows nothing about this it sounds really cool!
This comics is the reimagining of the Witchblade comics made in the 1990s, formely drawn by Micheal Turner (RIP), it was a comic books with a supernatural storyline. I will give a shot to this one if I can get the Book in my Country.
Id rather have a continuation...
actually I have heard that daphné (or Danny ?) was the new bearrer of the witchblade in the last issue, is this true ?
so hyped for this book. Long wait till July
Nice job guys!
Didn't they already reboot it and it failed completely back in 2017?
Yes though it was pretty good but the delays killed it
I am reading the classic.
Darkness series but I'll probably pick this up as a trade paperback
Yes
Mr. Silverstri sir.... You should have revived Witchblade to continue its story and numbering from the initial run and/or set within the original continuity ....NOT another reboot.
Anyhow, i will still check out the first few issues of this reboot to give it a chance to hook me.
Edit:
The previous reboot was terrible.
🤘🏼🔥🔥I’m down
HELL YEAH!
Been waiting for a new Witchblade, lets go!
Look forward
Great another reboot.
There's been bad reboots across entertainment, but I hope that you will give this one a fair shot. The creators are true fans, so everything you loved about the original series will be in the new Witchblade. I think you will dig it!
Soooon…..jackie yessssssss (okay this is fantastic I need my fix of gothic shit it’s been far too long)
You will get gothic in this new Witchblade as well. Shared Top Cow Universe. It will gear you up for when Marc's new The Darkness comes out in 2025! ;)
@@lisawu7788witchys fantastic I’ve got number ten but top cow stuff is so hard to find rn although it’s a massive high when you do fight one in a tiny shop in the middle of nowhere
@@lisawu7788 ya witchys fantastic it’s fantastic to have her back unfortunately I’ve only a handful of witchblade but finding top cow stuff is like pulling teeth over here
@@lisawu7788 I love Sara and I can't wait for this book... The only thing that may have me even more excited is the return of Jackie Estacado.
As cool as Mark Silvesteri is, I think comics doomed themselves when they stopped marketing them toward kids.
Kof Kof, seinen manga like death note anyone ?
i had to squint i thought that was fuckin vivienne medrano
Why are ya'll so afraid to bring Sara "Pez" Pezzini back? She is the Olivia Benson of comics.
They are bringing Sara back...
@@JDSCT As the main weilder?
@@jaymesEo6 Yes sir!
So Witchblade is getting a reboot.
Will give this a shot the original means so much but... please don't ruin it with PC bullshit. Remember Witchblade is violent, sexy, kickass, horror, thriller. I'm already excited but the new costume, is a little meh safe for me.
I’m hopeful.
I’m kind of the opposite, I feel like the new costume is sexy even more so than Ron Martz run. One of the new covers even had Sara Pezzini half naked.
Just be hopeful.
to many variants - maybe I will buy a TPB, if the comic was good you would only need one cover
Oooph the writer that killed off Renew Your Vows (despite some pretty good dialogue i have to say, a better artist might have helped); almost killed Boom! Power Rangers cos she spent the whole run trying to make the whole cast queer- great to jave that representation in comics but it was like her only idea for the book- rather than writing a decent story and whose Angela run was so iffy that (i don't think) anyone at Marvel has used her in any meaningful way since..... good choice.
Not saying i won't try it, but seems risky.
I miss that short run live action, and I love the concept of witchblade. a re-jigger re telling/restart sounds great.
Personally I never enjoyed the armour designs on many of them (the anime had the worse, but even the comics I don't much like the weird armour) I liked the actual armor the TV show had. I've never enjoyed the form fitting suit style armours. I wonder which aesthetic they'll go for
the arts in this havea Guyver aesthetic that is pretty neat, on the limbs.
Please 🙏 don’t put any WOKE nonsense in it!
I'm pretty sure you can give that up bro
If you could actually define what woke is maybe you would have any kind of point
@lpk6372 😂 bih please. If you don't know what it is Google is free
I mean, its Witchblade…
@@lpk6372read the description on internet .
Top cow gone woke?
Ummm....Witchblade was created about 30 years ago?
@@charleslebi7297 I thinkhe/she meant they covered her up unlike the original
Oh ffs 🤦♂️
Sorry but no. After investing a lot of time and money into the original series. Only to have the final confrontation between Sarah and Jackie end in such a rushed mess. Was disappointing to say the least. I wish you well. But once bitten…
I sadly have never red the last issues of the witchblade, how was this last confrontation ?
Just don't be DC or Marvel.
Yeah thats what we needed...another reboot...and the drawings look REALLY bad compared to the old stuff!
