Fantastic run of a seriously underrated gem. These older Yu-Gi-Oh! games have tons of charm and heart to them, and the music is entirely on another level. The only downside of Forbidden Memories, the abysmal drop rates and the PocketStation exclusive cards, can be circumvented by running one of the many mods that fix them. Seriously give this game a try if you're love YGO.

On this game's weird rules: It was produced before even Master Rule 1 existed. This game predates the basic rules of Yu-Gi-Oh. An extremely unique distinction.
IIRC this game was actually made before the official rules were implemented, so I would not be surprised if this was some weird prototype amalgamation. Love this game to pieces despite the fact its a little cheater, and what a wild ride this was!
I gotta say, I played competitive yugioh for the better part of the past 16 years and I didn't understand what was going on most of the time. Anyways, a very enjoyable run, really dug into the commentary from runner and commentators!

As someone who's only beaten this game on vanilla (THTD strat, basic equips), I enjoyed seeing this run. Those last battles were SUPER kind to her, but she had the deck primed to win against whatever cheat was coming. Awesome work!!

I actually really like the FM mechanics cuz it lessens power creep and gives low power cards more utility. I think it would be a cool concept to play around with. Also great job Sky!

I remember getting this game as a kid who played relatively comparative and played the first fight saw the big bad drop 5+ star monster with no sac and thought this is garbage the ai cheats and never played it again and then find out it's just how they coded this game because this game was in production before they made set rules which is why you kinda can just do almost anything
That's what the mod does. The mod allows you to adjust how many cards you receive from winning a duel then you go ahead and play. Commonly 5, 10 and 15 are what speedrunners go with.
She's playing a mod that gives 15 card drops instead of one. The community uses this mod for speedruns to make the game enjoyable and not take 25 hours
In case you didn't hear it in the video, this is modded to give 15 cards per win instead of the normal 1 card. There are other variants that give other amounts of cards, with 5 cards being the earliest developed.
The only YuGiOh gane I've ever played was Duelist of the Roses. Zombie deck was the only deck I knew and Pumpking was my j a m. Also I legit thought that's how YuGiOh was played for years.

My understanding is that "frame fatales" includes both of the All-women events. "Flame fatales" is the summer edition of that. So just like the main gdq events are split into AGDQ and SGDQ, frame fatales has both flame fatales (summer) and frost fatales (winter).
Frame Fatales is what the group of runners is called, Flame Fatales is this particular event. They also usually do a winter event called Frost Fatales, and some others once in a while as well.

This game is great, but there's only two thing a that ruin it for me. The amount of grinding (which this hack helps with) and the lack of strong fusions, the fact that the best you can fuse is Twinhead without getting super specific cards for which you inevitably need to farm hours (unless you do the RNG manips). Not even mentioning the crappy rituals, those are fundamentally badly designed as a mechanic.
Yep. The rules way back when didn't require any sacrifices for higher levelled cards. Personally I prefer the sacrifice system. I think they're referred to as Battle City rules from the Anime.

It's kind of why I got into Sacred Cards with the element/type mechanic so even the lowest level decks could win games if you set up the deck right.
I think sky is the only runner that not only understands the story of forbidden memories, but can explain it lol

yeah, it's based upon the manga - actually predates even the anime, and if you've seen the early anime you know how loose the "rules" are there.
