AND it took two years to build. I heard some rumours laugo was trying to get production optics approved? But someone pointed out that requires a SLIDE mounted optic

Its not the action that makes this pistol expensive. As mentioned in the video gas delayed pitols have been around for some time in both the HK P7 and the Steyr GB. I got my alien about 3 months ago and I have to say I won't give the pistol back! I have several very good pistols e.g. the Sig Sauer X-6 Supermatch and the Alien is at least on the same level, if not slightly above it. The technical properties are really very good, the heat development is slightly more than with the Sig Sauer and not really a problem. The Alien is delivered with a trigger weight of approx. 1.5 kg and since the spring and hammer are in the exchangeable upper rail, you cannot change this yourself. I ordered 2 upper rails with a pull-off weight of 1.0 kg. Now the already good print is perfect. I am really happy with the gun !!! Greetings DUDE
I don't believe they're individually hand-fitted, the focus seems to be on maintaining extremely consistent manufacturing tolerances. In another video I watched the rep mentioned that top straps can be swapped out, different straps for one gun or one strap between different guns, and it'll supposedly hold zero in both situations, something I don't think would be possible if the guns were hand-fitted.
I hope some day we can look back on this as an ancestor of the new standard. Obviously $5000 is too much for the common people, but maybe some of our grandchildren will own the glock equivalent of this.
If your quality control is high enough with true precision manufacturing then hand fitting is redundant. Everything already fits precisely. How it will react to dust, dirt, sand, mud and changes of temperature I don't know. That depends.
Finally potential most superior optics mounting platform. Non reciprocating top means a flattop pic rail and no more dumb loctite set screws into slide.
It’s built extremely similar to the S&W 422/622 line of rimfires. (My favorite .22 pistol) Low Bore axis at the bottom of the slide, minimized reciprocating mass. I’m super intrigued.
Two additional mags $200, optic $400, signature $200, second rail $400, hardcase $50, collectible appreciation $200. That's a fair $1450 in extras. So the gun and two mags would be $3,550 without the extras. You could easily make it $3,499 to improve the feels.
I really like it. I like the idea of a small manufacturer of high quality novel guns. The price is high but it is not out of reach for a regular person who really wants one. I reckon this is one of those guns were if you really want it but don't like the price you should buy it straight away. You will save money from all the guns you would have bought to scratch the itch by buying it now.
A lot of us are talking about this gun. The amount of innovation in its design is well deserving of respect. Unfortunately, the price makes it unaffordable for most of us.
At the time I own a LP08 Luger and a CZ75 SP01. I am only allowed to own 2 pistols here in Germany. I am not sure which of my both pistol, which I both really like, should I sell to buy myself an Alien.
Best thing that could happen for all us guys lusting over one but not at that price point is for CZ to buy them out and dramatically increase production efficiency and volume and reduce costs. Get that thing down to under $2000 retail and sell as many as they can pump out. I’d have a deposit in right now at 2 Grand.
seems real nice but some of the parts like the trigger plunger and connecting bar seem really delicate, I wonder how this system stands up to abuse, sand and wear. I would hate take it apart for maintenance and bend or break some of the thinner parts
Seems the trigger design is the other innovative part of this pistol. Still trying to understand how it works, especially the reset. It does seem to lack a lot of the complexity of standard trigger systems. Thanks Ian for at least touching on it.
The Walther CCP has a similar looking gas delayed piston system albeit in a more conventional layout. I find it to be very soft shooting which is exactly what Walther intended for this midsize 9 mm pistol.
It’s extremely interesting to see that people perceive hand build associated with high quality. Nothing is further from the truth. I love the innovation, but I’m struggling to see the value in “perceived” performance. If I am looking to enhance my shooting performance, then I would take a course with Aaron Cowan at Sage Dynamics. Afterwards I would be able to shot any pistol and get to keep a ton of cash in my pocket.
Its small company here in Czech Republic, just a few people working on them and its not even close to any possible larger scale production. Even the price is high, there is waiting list for it and demand is much larger than production. Its like... buying a Ferrari of firearms market. :)
Am I the only one looking at that low-slide/high-grip and thinking slide bite is a very real worry? But as a double-stack, single action, fixed-barrel / fixed sight, low bore pistol, that will likely find a good home in high-end competition shooting circles.
They've been trying to push this gun to the competition market (which will pay a premium for any advantage), but it's not (currently) legal for production or carry optics division in either USPSA or IPSC. And I really doubt it will ever be a USPSA production legal gun due to minimum production requirement (2000 units) and it's a single action hammer fired gun (explicitly banned in production). Carry optics is out as well as it has to be a production legal pistol. The optic mount is not legal for USPSA as it is connected to the frame (although on a removable component), not to the reciprocating slide as mandated in the rules. Could use it in USPSA limited, but not in 9mm, needs to be 40 S&W to be competitive. Expensive toy at this point.

Damn, they really are from Trenčín! Town I was born in. I am actually proud on something my country did! Except the 5k price tag...
They should be proud of the 5k tag. How many people can outsell a 5k gun easily
Kámo to nedělali jenom slováci, ale společnš s čechy, takže je na ní nápis czechoslovakia.
This little beauty and the HK p7 are straight up the best sidearms you could carry today
"It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." - Karl, SHOTShow 2020.
I hope some day we can look back on this as an ancestor of the new standard. Obviously $5000 is too much for the common people, but maybe some of our grandchildren will own the glock equivalent of this.
Taurus?
Ruger?
Hi-Point?
Diamond Back?
our grandchildren will have the glock equivalent of this in full-dive VR games because guns will be outlawed by then.
This system is way too fussy for genpop, imagine how badly it would fail the mud test. Oh wait...
@@Klovaneer wut
If your quality control is high enough with true precision manufacturing then hand fitting is redundant. Everything already fits precisely. How it will react to dust, dirt, sand, mud and changes of temperature I don't know. That depends.
Might influence other manufacturers to develop alternatives?
amazing gun but that trigger mechanism is a bit.... weird.... how its "feel" of it any ways to mess with it?
PSA you’re up!
what if they did an aluminum slide and steel frame? Thought the reduced weight on the top and increased weight on the bottom should help with control
Yes but does it come in a 5.7?
The US$ 5000 is the signature version with all accessories.
I thing it is gonna be a very collectible item in the near future.
Finally potential most superior optics mounting platform. Non reciprocating top means a flattop pic rail and no more dumb loctite set screws into slide.
Looking at some of the wear on the back of the frame there is a little worrying, i wonder how well this gun would actually last
Hm... This new pistol? Or an FG42?
Does it get hot like the p7
It’s built extremely similar to the S&W 422/622 line of rimfires. (My favorite .22 pistol) Low Bore axis at the bottom of the slide, minimized reciprocating mass. I’m super intrigued.
How dirty does it get and how quick does it get dark?
How much does it cost?
Two additional mags $200, optic $400, signature $200, second rail $400, hardcase $50, collectible appreciation $200. That's a fair $1450 in extras. So the gun and two mags would be $3,550 without the extras. You could easily make it $3,499 to improve the feels.
For half the price, 2500, they still can keep the quality and i believe it would sell very well. There is a lot of very deserved hype behind it.
Karl was scary with the dot. That was amazing shot to shot recovery.
I am excited to see everything I am seeing, but I am cautiously remember similar feelings with the Hudson H9
Is it 40 watt powerful? That would be a very nice addition to the issue space marine plasma rifle.
There's some special sauce, it's just very expensive sauce.
Omg! Actual innovation at Shot show
The US market let the HUDSON H9 die...
@@axp8598 but didnt they also have a bunch of quality control issues and still had customers guns when they shut down?
I really like it. I like the idea of a small manufacturer of high quality novel guns. The price is high but it is not out of reach for a regular person who really wants one. I reckon this is one of those guns were if you really want it but don't like the price you should buy it straight away. You will save money from all the guns you would have bought to scratch the itch by buying it now.
Alien VS Hudson 9... which is better and why? (not looking at cost/availability)
A lot of us are talking about this gun. The amount of innovation in its design is well deserving of respect. Unfortunately, the price makes it unaffordable for most of us.
Wow you both shot sooo much quicker than you normally do. The follow up shots is what convinced me this is serious.
At the time I own a LP08 Luger and a CZ75 SP01. I am only allowed to own 2 pistols here in Germany. I am not sure which of my both pistol, which I both really like, should I sell to buy myself an Alien.
Make a hunting licence and sell one of your kidney to buy this alien, and you can keep your beauties 😉
@@MlTGLIED I already have the Hunting License.
Karl, what brand is your jacket?
Ian and Karl is my favorite friendship ever
seems real nice but some of the parts like the trigger plunger and connecting bar seem really delicate, I wonder how this system stands up to abuse, sand and wear.
Karl are you going to tell us about your Lyft ride to the show with Mr. Ollam?
The Walther CCP has a similar looking gas delayed piston system albeit in a more conventional layout. I find it to be very soft shooting which is exactly what Walther intended for this midsize 9 mm pistol.
2 of these or a Barrett M107. Hmmm.
Why not all 3!
Berret would be a bitch on feeding costs...
You are going to need $$$ for Optics, and Ammo.
@@Len_M. well that goes for both of them
It’s extremely interesting to see that people perceive hand build associated with high quality.
This is the gun I thought y'all were talking about when you posted those videos with the facehuggers.
So, how much does it cost again?)
Ian's new channel "can't afford to get em" weapons
Its small company here in Czech Republic, just a few people working on them and its not even close to any possible larger scale production. Even the price is high, there is waiting list for it and demand is much larger than production. Its like... buying a Ferrari of firearms market. :)
The price is certainly out of this world.
You just reminded me why I loathe those organizations - all the rules are made by fudds who've sold their soul to the gun manufacturers.
You guys shot my dream to pieces as fast as Karl hit that small steel using the red dot. Ouch, they are aiming for a small market. I wish them luck.
Ok seeing Karl doing it is outright spooky, imagine him doing it after getting more training
I feel like this gun demands to be in a action movie.
