I have seen very good surfers have trouble with river waves, and I've seen absolutely trash ocean surfers crush river waves. The point is, they are surprisingly different from one another and both take lots of practice to get good at.
I recall being amazed at the skill of the surfers on this wave. There are signs all over saying to stay out of the water, but they are ignored. Our hostess said they are there just to protect the city if someone gets hurt. .
@@jgonsalk Everyone surfs until they make a mistake and fall,, then eat flushed over the peak, but everyone bobbed right up again, and came back for more. I seem to recall there was a smaller standing wave a bit further downstream that some were surfing.
further down the eisbach1 or 2 swimmers die every year. thats because they tryd to dive under bridges . they hit concrete barriers with their head, get unconsious and thats it. eisbach is only one meter deep and under the bridges you have to lay flat floating on your back. if you do this nothing happens.🙂
Sooo dope ❤ im from oregon and theres a manmade river wave in bend im sure you know of, but theres also a suuuuper gnarly (8+feet?) river wave on the clackamas river in spring time. Dont know if its rideable tho 😅 just used to whitewater raft it and its a beast. This spot looks amazing. Thanks for the video

Was just bodyboarding at Carlsbad state beach this morning. It was barreling like crazy. That river wave looked gnarly! 🤙🏿
