- A very enjoyable evening spent at Cheddington on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway and freight from , Royal Mail, DB Cargo UK, Freightliner and GBRF.
The station was opened in 1838 by the London and Birmingham Railway and was formally a junction station for a branch line that went to Aylesbury High Street which was used by a mixture of freight and passenger traffic. The freight traffic would typically consist of cattle wagons taking the animals to Leighton Buzzard where they would be sold at the farmers market in the center of the town. The line remain opened until 1964 until it was finally closed.
The only real significant thing that happened at Cheddington was the Great Train Robbery of 1963 which occurred 1.2 miles down the line at Ledburn Junction.

My next rush hour film will actually now be Linslade.

Was train spottin in the uk on thursday and got very lucky with a pair of 90’s going through Stratford regional station, your videos are really neat and great to learn from!
That's very kind of you to say, I hope you had a great time
@Tornado922 jarred you should go to lgv Nored in france where yoy will see eurostars and tgvs at brake neck speed
Fantastic rush hour film, I really enjoyed watching. :)
Thanks very much bud!
Great video as always Jarred. Nice to catch 350104 Eurovision livery, 66769, 66419 and a few 319s 👍👍
Thanks very much bud
Can you do Bromley South
I was onboard the 17:28 to MKC! It was definitely an amazing experience being in a 319 before they eventually retire
It was the 16:39 from EUS. It was so awesome
@@noahhunt2003 indeed. I had a great time riding it with you :)
@@CrazyDash9 It will be a shame to see them go
@@Tornado922 indeed :(
Great video
Thanks very much!
Brilliant Video there!! Do love a Rush Hour Traffic on the Wcml, so much and more variety, especially, more freight, more 350s, especially more 319s and alot Avanti West Coast!!
Another fantastic video.
Thanks very much!
00:10, fantastic livery does the leading 350 have. 💪
I'm not a big lover of that livery myself
It is the 2023 Eurovision livery
The Trains On The Fast Line To London Sound Better
super video j great veriety some awesome captures there plenty of waffle as well👍😂loved it oh and i must say you had your fair share of flat wheels ruining the track as they sail along 🤣 . thanks for sharing take care a t b Syd👌
Thanks very much Syd, the waffle is all part of what I do haha. I always love coming to Cheddington (when the weather is on my side anyway). The amount of variety passing through is always great to see, including the never ending amount of flat wheels!
37:56 this is quite a hard one because DB have changed a lot over the years.
You are definitely right about the China clay and steel trains being operated under DB.
Intermodal they have got a fair few including:
- Southampton to Birch Coppice
- Southampton to Wakefield
- Southampton to Trafford park
- Daventry to Mossend
- Felixstowe south to Wakefield.
They do also operate the car trains from Both Cowley (Mini) and Halewood (Jaguar) to Southampton
They have a Felixstowe East Mids contract as well for intermodal
they do seem to be losing out to FL and GBRF though it would seem, but thanks for the extra information in regards to the DB contracts
as a german that's nice to hear, DB should focus more on their main business in Germany😅
Great video ❤❤🥰🥰🥰
Thanks very much!
Hi Tornado922. Great rush hour film at Cheddington. Loved the tone from 390103 at 10:35. Great additional tones throughout the film too. Extra information for you: at 27:06, it was actually 221105 working the Avanti service to Holyhead, at 34:21, it was indeed 390009 working the Avanti service from Birmingham New Street, at 41:47, it was 390047 with the great 3-tone working the Avanti service from Manchester Piccadilly and at 50:28, it was 390151 working the Avanti service from Edinburgh. Looking forward to the next rush hour film at Linslade. Kind regards, Chris.
Thanks for the extra information as always Chris, it's greatly appreciated
Enjoyable rush hour again, lovely station as well. Perhaps trains were running late after drivers saw Eurovision train and thought oh no not that song again. Many thanks.
Thanks very much, I can't say that I blame the drivers for being late after seeing that livery haha
Great rush hour film at Cheddington
Thanks very much!
A very good Monday evening buddy from Alan in Lowestoft buddy 👍
Thanks very much Alan
Another great video 🍺👍
thanks very much!
Nice one
thanks very much
I Love Cheddington
It's a great little station to come to
If you want a laugh, try having the subtitles on. Love the way Euston becomes Houston!
I don't even think the subtitles know what I'm saying haha
Please can you make a video at hemel Hempstead?
I will get that done at some stage
27:06 the singular voyager is 221105 but you were close. 34:18 was 390009
Thanks for letting me know :)
At 27:11 it was 221105
Thanks for letting me know
Jarred: When you "mocked" the New York City accent around the !9:20 mark, you DID NOT offend people from NYC. I'm from and still currently live in the city and people to this very day to talk like that. I mean the old timers. The city has changed from being one of the greatest to one of the worst in the last decade or so. Those comedy sketches of yours are ABSLOUTELY HILAROUS!!! If you do stand up comedy, I'll watch you for sure. More of that, please!!! Anyways, perfect video to relax on a Sunday afternoon.
I'm not to sure my comedy career would take off haha! I have always wanted to visit New York but I'll leave my accent at the border control. I'm glad you enjoyed watching this!
Can u do Healing near Grimsby
I will see what I can do
You should do Hereford rush hour film since you won’t do rush hour at Oxenholme
I think he would like you to stop spamming his comments section to begin with.
When will you upload your Manchester Piccadilly video?
I have yet to get it filmed
That Eurovision livery is incredibly strange.
We are living in very strange times.
I'm not a fan of it personally
After your Lancaster visit do Oxenholme Lake district
Have you ever thought of asking nicely?
@@Tornado922 And have you ever thought of listening to me?
I assume you hit the record button by mistake at 30:11!
I certainly did!
Where is your Severn valley diesel gala video
It literally only happened last weekend, it takes time for people to edit footage and put something presentable and entertaining together
Dont see many drs either
You rarely see DRS operating on the southern section of the WCML
What are bettis
They are cows
Not all drivers like being filmed but I guess it' a hazard that comes with the job
Whilst I can appreciate that they also have to realise that as train drivers they are the faces of the company and their attitude can reflect badly upon the company.
Do a rush hour film at Hereford
Nope, to far away from Milton Keynes
@@Tornado922 Fine then do a normal film at Hereford.
54:41, did you know that 419 was an ex DRS?
As to the Great Train Robbery, the train in question was initially stopped at the junction, but the actual robbery took place a short distance down the line at Bridego Bridge(now Mentmore Bridge), closer to Cheddington station. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Train_Robbery_(1963)
