- Finally I've done a little video on HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN MOSAIC CHARTS! Mosaic Crochet is such a fun and simple technique and once you've mastered it I bet you wann do your own charts and designs too! it's easy peasy to draw up the charts and I have gotten so many requests over the years to show you how I do these. I did this little video to wish you all a very happy Mother's Day today, here I show you all the basics in how to draw up your own charts and all my go-to-tricks! As always, I'd love to get your input in comments, I really hope this little video helps.

Tinna, thank you for teaching us how to do this. I've been trying to figure it out for years and haven't found any tutorials that make sense to me. You've done it!!! You're right, it's so simple, but your teaching has ended my search. This was the best mother's day present!!

I just discoverd mosaic crochet and this was a great help! I was curious if I could design my own pattern and you explained it so well :) Now I also understand the mechanics of what I am doing when crocheting in this style to. The "hiding the other colored row" bit was a bit obscure untill I watched this. Thank you! And happy belated mothers day!

Thank you. I'm a retired pro weaver dyer so think in grids (but also did a lot of surface design, my version of ikat, etc). I wanted to do color work in crochet and found you--then found Tunisian crochet and now usually translate mosaic graphs to Tunisian but you were and are the inspiration for me to extend my love of textiles and color to yet another form. My mantra always has been 'what happens if I do this' and mosaic started me on a crochet journey of doing just that (I also have to say I had to figure out weaving and dyeing on my own or from books---pre net--and its terrific to find help, inspiration, support, etc online now).
The online crochet community really is the best and yes, I too learned from my grandmothers and books back in the day and really appreciate that you can just look anything up on TH-cam now!! It’s amazing ✨❤️😘
I found this helpful. Was hoping you discussed the adding of stitches either side plus the border stitches. For example, one of your patters you have the foundation plus 5 (2 at the start and 3 at the end).

Perfect timing for me, Tinna. For months I have asked my oldest son what design theme does he want for his personalized blanket. Finally about 6 hours ago, he answered me. It’s something I will have to design. Not very difficult, but I wasn’t sure where to begin. Now - after your little video - I know where to start. I have graph/grid paper and lots of markers. Happy belated Mother's Day, Tinna!! Lovely explanation, it really is much simpler than I previously thought; I wasn't visualizing the DCs as three boxes and that helps immensely! It makes so much sense, now. I'm happy to report that even though I can't buy graph paper easily, my printer comes with the preset to do so! I'll be doing lots of trials with mosaic crochet now!

Thanks, Tinna. Your method is simple, efficient, and clear. For my poor brain, making these has always been a mind bender, because I tried to think it stitch by stitch from the bottom....so thinking that way, you have to hold 2 colors and 3 rows in your head for each stitch. 🤯

Since you're making notes for part 2 video, was wondering if you would maybe tackle diagonal stitches and maybe even teach us how to do them properly. From what I can tell there may be more than a few ways to do them, but hey, a girl can dream to have the pro teach the hard stuff and make it make sense, like everything else you do!! If not, that's ok too. I have so much to learn as it is. Need an extra lifetime to do it all, haha!

I believe I understand what you’re doing with the dc crochets as the main color on the rows. I thinks what’s a little confusing watching you do this is that the paytern color is not on the paper for us to see as a visual, we have to put it there mentally lol. Therefore we if just copy what you did here and listen your instructions after we copy it putting the color lines in ourselves, we’ll understand it better. Thank you for your time and knowledge.
Oh wow, so many thanks for these explanations! I am making a cushion for my daughter but she wanted to have one motif upside down. I said '' no pbl '' before realizing I will have to redo the pattern of this motif. It will help me A LOT!
