This video came up randomly on my feed, but I think it was because I watched the videos you quoted from Steven-Thompson and RobtheMaritimer about starting youtube channels that yours got surfaced to me.
Ok, glad to see all the youngsters here. I'm 80. Started my first TH-cam channel about 2011, 2014, 2015, 201?, 202?. On September 1, 2023 I decided to I was going to restart one of my channels (all my others haven't done much) as a beekeeping channel. And, I was going to post regularly, at least twice a month and that soon became once a week. And, I wasn't going to quit until I was monetized or beyond. I've done pretty good at keeping it up until about ten days ago. But, I'm back on track now. I've got 755 subs and 681 Public Watch Hours. I'm glad I found your page Allen. Maybe I can learn how to golf. Naw. Ok, I'll be following along. Good Luck!
I think beekeeping videos is a great way to go. You have the personality to pull it off. Being stung by a bee is probably less painful than my golf game.
@@LifeAsAllen The issue with that is the hives are heavy and this last year they seem to have become a lot heavier. I'm going to cut back to maybe just a couple of hives instead of 35. Only to keep my channel active and relevant. Going to make a trip on part of Route 66 this fall and may change another channel to a more personal or a more personal travel channel.
You are right, the over 60 have so much to give. I am 67 and started my TH-cam 5 years ago. During the first year, I only uploaded 3 kayaking videos, but during the COVID-19 lockdowns, I started getting out for local walks and producing regular videos. It has never been about popularity and money for me, it is just me sharing my love for all things outdoors, and having a chat along the way. All the best from the UK, Dave 👍
Allen, that was awesome!! LOVE that you added the bloopers at the end!! Although I think I would’ve moved the ball closer to the hole after 4 misses… just sayin’ lol! Great job and best of luck with your channel :)
Allen, your video was recommended to me by TH-cam. Reason must be that I just posted my very first video, who knows. I am 55, and just watched last week one of those “40 and above, start TH-cam now” videos. After doing so, I went for a walk and took my first video. No talking, just ASMR style. I need to find the guts to show myself on camera plus talk to the camera. You and others are just inspiring! Plus: Your video was funny.
I'm here with you guys, 59, but I've been gaming a while and have alot to offer in experience and insight, so I post my clips and hope we all succeed ❤
Great first video! Enjoyed your video style and "meeting" your son Trey. I have grands that are obviously older. My suggestion is to share as much as you feel comfortable about being a "Silver Dad" as I was very intrigued by my co-worker in his 70's who was raising a 2 year old. I am also 62 and always thought I would work until seventy but over this past year I have decided to create a space where I can work how and when I choose. I am looking forward to beginning semi-retirement to spend more time with my dear husband who is doing much better after years of chronic health issues. Happy to be a new subscriber.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I may not have enough hair to classify as "silver" though lol. Just curious, how did you find this video?
Doing videos in public is really tough to get to do. I’m doing growth content on my channel and intentionally doing public videos to get over that fear. Keep it up. See you at 1,000 subs. I love seeing other people grow their channels.
@@ChadLisonbee Thanks Chad. I've been around thousands of people as a videographer, but walking around with a camera pointed at my face as other people watch is certainly uncomfortable with me. I'm just trying to have some fun with it to see where it goes.
found you through your comment! great work. what's interesting is all those potential channels you'd probably make a great work with especially with how you film and all that experience. what's amazing about TH-cam is how unlimited the potential is and the tech is only getting better in helping individual creators to make their own channels. TH-cam has been here for over a decade but it was only in the last year I too decided to have the courage to go and make my own channel and show my face, show up consistently like one would for a weekly episode.
@NoHomage Hey! Thanks for checking out my channel. The crazy thing is, the videos I put a lot of effort shooting and editing havent done as well for me. Loved the ending! Lol! What is with that grass?! Funny how creators such as yourself are popping up in my timeline left and right, just as I'm working up my confidence to reprise my YT channel I created last year at age 62! I wish I had your experience with video creating and editing. Thankfully I have a son that helped me get started, but, whoa, there is a steep learning curve on that, and I'm just getting started. Cheers and best of luck!
Just found your channel! I think you came up on my feed because I’m also over 60 and have just in the past week or so started to seriously consider starting a TH-cam channel. Looking forward to following your progress. I’ve never been in the film business and know nothing about editing so maybe I’ll pick up a thing or two from you😊
I live the bloopers. 😂 I saw one of your videos before, just like this one, courtsey if TH-cam. I too live in Houston, snd am fixin' to start posting again regularly. Yeah, its been two years, but i uploaded a couple of shorts already to get warmed up. Subscribed this time.
Nice editing. I like your style. I also decided to start my channel a year ago in my '60s. Its just a hobby but I'm proud of my work having no background in any of this and learning so much over the last year. I've hit a thousand subscribers now. Spooky stuff is my passion and it's so much fun to do. Good luck to you. Good luck to me. It's never too late to start.
@Frightman I think it's a great hobby and something I look forward to do more of if I can ever retire. Thanks for watching and commenting and good luck with your channel.

Hey there! You just popped up in my feed! My channel has been mainly conversations with other people. I’ve been thinking about doing some solo stuff for a while and finally published my first today! This is a great first video. I love watching videos from people in my age group.
Great content and you have a great sense of humor. I'm 62 also and just started my YT channel 2 weeks ago. I've actually had it for 7 years but never did anything with it. I found you by looking for older TH-camrs like me (Over 50+). Anyway I just subscribed and look forward to following your journey. I don't know how to edit my videos yet so they're raw LOL but I'll learn. Cheers - Martin
@theblairpodcast2462 Thanks, Martin. Good luck with your channel as well. There are a ton of videos out there to teach you editing, so you should get up to speed soon.
I'm your new subscriber, Allen. I found this video on the homepage. More power to your channel! I'm 63 when I started my only channel very early this year, now in its 9th month with 40k subs, and still hoping for the best!
I found one of your other videos and this one showed up today. So, I turned 60 this year. I like Aviation, Gaming, Drones, RC aircraft, Photo Video. Been in the planning stages for months now investing in all the tools, and have some story ideas. Even shot a fast intro video that I now hate but was a good learning experience. Guess I am in the few takes to get the ball to go in the cup. Thanks for including those! This is a really nice first video. You have done your homework and it shows. Thanks!
Great first video! I am 6 months into my little TH-cam adventure. Very envious of how crisp your video is and how clear your outdoor audio is. I have had some struggles with both audio and vide…to say the least LOL Awesome job!
This is great! Your voice and camera presence are so soothing and I was riveted the entire video. I’m 45 and starting a YT channel sharing my journey learning how to restore furniture. I have two antique dressers in my garage and visitors would exclaim with excitement wanting to know what I was doing with them. Then I realized there was already quite a tribe on YT! I found your video while watching other videos on how to make videos. Always happy to see other full grown adults pursuing YT! Subscribed 😀
Wow Allen, I'm on the same TH-cam journey. So many parallels with your story (I'm 62 and my youngest son is 13). I'm planning to retire from expat life next March (home is UK) and have lots of hobbies and stuff I think I want to chat about/share. No idea about my niche, so I'll just get started and see where stuff takes me. Thanks for a great into. Good luck!
I’m 36 and i’ve been posting for about 3 years and i will say sometimes it feels like maybe i missed the boat. I recently decided to really post on a regular schedule and it really feels daunting sometimes. Really stoked about to have found your channel to pull on you for inspiration

I am in my 50s and started my channel several years ago because I've always enjoyed making videos. Although my channel hasn't grown much at all, I continued to publish new videos whenever I feel like it.

Congratulations on finding a great retirement hobby. I did the same last summer while on vacation in portugal. I shot a few videos and off the cuff. I thought, what will i do with these videos? I turned on the TV tonight and there you were. I was interested in your channel because I’m starting the TH-cam channel. Not sure about my niche just yet but I’m working on it. I think it will be fun and exciting. Congratulations on your channel. I will be watching I subscribed. 🎉🎉
Your channel found me by popping up in my feed. Having 466 subscribers since August is impressive. I monitor channels similar to yours, whether successful or not, to see what seems to be working and what isn't. There's one in particular I follow that has taken off this year after one of the videos went viral and I'm trying to decode what's making it click. I, too, have a channel as a retiree with the niche being the many ways you can optimize and enjoy retirement. It's been mostly DIY and How To videos up to this point, however, because I've always done a lot of remodeling work and this was the year of the major house overhaul after living here 28 years. It will trend more to travel, biking, vehicle restoration, being outdoors, fitness, and retirement specific topics in the future. Your channel appears similar in the sense that you spoke of finding different ways to occupy yourself when retired. I will keep watching and wish you success.
@fredbehn9287 Thanks Fred...this first video seems to be the one resonating most with people. Finding the formula since then has been a lot hard, but I'm still grinding.

I'm subbing because we have a couple things in common. On the older side and started a You Tube channel. You have me beat on the editing , for sure! Love the reality takes at the end. Now I don't feel so bad. Still, way better than my putting. Good luck with the channel.
Thank you and good luck with your channel! It's can be a fun and frustrating at the same time if you keep your expectations in check. I do think the pluses outweigh the minuses.
@ I’m hoping it works out but not stressing over it. It’s fun, get to meet people in the chats and keeping me computer savvy! Maybe future grandkids will get a chuckle out it too. Nice to meet you.
Hi Allen, congratulations on your new hobby. I have been publishing weekly videos on my forced-early retirement, which has evolved into a DIY retirement channel. I began it as a COVID-era hobby and now have 172 weekly videos concentrating on managing the personal finance part of retirement, without paying lots of fees!

Hey man. you're a natural on camera! Wish you the best on TH-cam!
@@benjaminzipser6021 I appreciate your comments...thank you!
I started my channel 5 months ago. I am 70 all about health beauty and fitness!. Your never too old
@letsbeforeveryoung That's terrific! Good luck on your youtube journey.
I love this trend! Just subscribed to your channel 👏 it’s never too late. Great storytelling and editing!
@melaniegriesemer That's great! Glad to have you on board!
Alexa rocks! I'm glad to have her as a resource.
Somehow this rolled into my feed! Well done! 👏 Love the Ending! Subscribed!
@@ThesoundofSilenceshh glad you found it!
How many times did you do that put Allen 😀 LOVE IT! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@josefinewanner haha! If you watch all the way until the end, you'll find out! Thanks for watching.
You seem like a natural. Well done for starting
@@pigsinpyjamas9410 Thank you. I'm trying!
There is no such thing as age when it comes to learning and creativity. So glad to see your channel and may your GROW BIG!
@anadattaofficial Thank you...that's nice of you to say. I appreciate it.
Just found your channel! I think you came up on my feed because I’m also over 60 and have just in the past week or so started to seriously consider starting a TH-cam channel. Looking forward to following your progress. I’ve never been in the film business and know nothing about editing so maybe I’ll pick up a thing or two from you😊
Thank you...there are probably a lot better people to learn from than me, but let me know if you have any questions.
@@MisterWeirdo That's great to hear! Good luck with your restart!
@@Frightman 1k is great! Keep it up!
@Frightman I think it's a great hobby and something I look forward to do more of if I can ever retire. Thanks for watching and commenting and good luck with your channel.
@@LifeAsAllen Thank you sir and same to you. I'm counting down my last two years to retirement and then I plan to travel and record more content across the country. I think it will be a cool retirement job
@@Frightman Sounds like a great plan.
Great video! I'm subscriber #36! Definitely not too late!
Thanks for subbing!
Love this! Just started my over 40 channel (I’m 48.5).
@@BookedWithShuntá Thanks Shunta!
The inaugural klaymorz in retirement video. Lol jk. Good stuff buddy, I may have to start one up again and join ya! #OGTH-camr
Let's go!
Hey there! You just popped up in my feed! My channel has been mainly conversations with other people. I’ve been thinking about doing some solo stuff for a while and finally published my first today! This is a great first video. I love watching videos from people in my age group.
I did wonder how many puts it took for you to succeed. Good job and thanks for sharing that at the end! New sub here
@gretchenbond784 Thank you Gretchen!
You are doing amazing🎉🎉
Thanks for watching!
@thejerrbertrends526 Congrats on your channel's success. That's great to hear. Thanks for subscribing.
Thanks!
@@chipwillis Thanks Chip...good luck with your channel!
Great first video! I am 6 months into my little TH-cam adventure. Very envious of how crisp your video is and how clear your outdoor audio is. I have had some struggles with both audio and vide…to say the least LOL Awesome job!
@@LeadYourLiving Thanks for watching. Let me know if you need any advice on anything technical.
@@LifeAsAllen Thank you!
Thank you so much! It's comments like these that keep me going when the video ideas aren't flowing. Good luck on your journey as well.
Good luck!
@tonycarpenter723 That's great. Just keep it to something you enjoy doing and you'll succeed.
I’m 36 and i’ve been posting for about 3 years and i will say sometimes it feels like maybe i missed the boat. I recently decided to really post on a regular schedule and
it really feels daunting sometimes. Really stoked about to have found your channel to pull on you for inspiration
Thank you...I wish I had started sooner too, but time management was and still is an issue to some degree.
This is fun! I'm not quite 60 yet, but liked and subscribed 👍
@oxigen85 I'm glad you enjoyed it...all ages are welcome, lol
Love this! I was actually building a video with a very similar into. Great job.
@@TheGilesFamily That's great! Good luck with it.
Subscribed 🎉. Your keep it simple video showed up in my feed so I started watching your videos. Love your sense of humor 😁. I am in my 50s and started my channel several years ago because I've always enjoyed making videos. Although my channel hasn't grown much at all, I continued to publish new videos whenever I feel like it.
@@AkinoriKobo That's great! I see you have lots of videos from Taiwan and Japan...2 of my favorite places.
Wow Allen, awesome first video! Very engaging and very well thought out / edited. Kudos to you for starting! I'm excited you're part of Creator Boost Tribe 💪
Thanks Ty! CBT has been a good thing so far...I really enjoy the people there and knowing we are all going through the same thing.
Congratulations on finding a great retirement hobby. I did the same last summer while on vacation in portugal. I shot a few videos and off the cuff. I thought, what will i do with these videos? I uploaded a video, and Cooze Adventures was born. Cheers to lots more to come. What a great retirement hobby.
I have a 10 year old and 2 kids in college, so retirement isn't here just yet for me lol. I'll be sure to check out your channel later. Thanks for commenting.
I turned on the TV tonight and there you were. I was interested in your channel because I’m starting the TH-cam channel. Not sure about my niche just yet but I’m working on it. I think it will be fun and exciting. Congratulations on your channel. I will be watching I subscribed. 🎉🎉
@@pocketgreetings6450 That's great! Have fun with it!
By the way, the tag in my reply is not for my channel. I can reply with that if you're interested. Thanks
@fredbehn9287 Thanks Fred...this first video seems to be the one resonating most with people. Finding the formula since then has been a lot hard, but I'm still grinding.
Enjoyed your introductory vid. Subbed and liked.
That's great...glad to hear it! Thank you.
Nice jobI I am next, 63, very intimidated but still going for it. Don't know a thing about editing or video, hopefully I will learn quick. Good Job on yours Allen, Rockon
@Oldhippiechickadventures That's grear...good luck!
Hey Allen. Loved this video. It really showed your professional chops. I am very close to retirement and I want to start a TH-cam channel as well, but I am a rank amateur. I need all the inspiration I can get.
@ekalenak Thank you! Sounds good...there are a ton of videos out there to help you, but let me know if you have any questions down the road. Good luck!
Super job.....I thought this was yet another " 40 over" video......but this one was good, real good.

That's awesome! I'll check it out. Part of me wishes I was retired, but I'm happy with my job right now, plus have 2 kids in college and a 5th grader, so not quite ready to hang it up just yet!
Hi Allen. I really enjoyed your video and I am 63 just about to turn 64:and live in Wales in the UK. I have ten year twin boys so I can really identify with you. We have a channel 2Twinsters and I have also started a channel called Sixty Rocks which I have not really used yet. My boys have put some jokey comments on. I have lots of plans for it but doing it is another matter! Good to meet you and I have already subscribed. Best wishes Michael
Thanks for watching Michael...I'll have to check your channel out soon.
