You right about that,I turned 39 on the 8th of this month,an there is still nothing better than hearing older people's stories, not to mention that's where we can get our best advice from....
This is my DAD ( Kenneth Sims from Dekalb Tx ) he is definitely one of a kind they broke the mold when he was born he has been everthing from a trucker to a tour bus driver for county music entertainers been to every state ( twice ) and done and see more than 3 lifetime's worth he has never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back ( Im kind of glad he left out the story on how we became kin folks to HOSS lets just say my great grand pa and Hoss mom were next door neighbors we will leave it at that).....😅Lamont definitely met his match that day......
I used to work for your grandparents Mr Ralph and Ms Mollie doing odd jobs around their home in dekalb when I was a teenager met your dad a few times definitely one of a kind with many stories and cool guy
I am sorry, but we were not kin to Dan Blocker. They lived down the street from grandparents.when Dan was a baby grandmother, loaned his mother my highchair. This is a great video.
It was so much Better back then! Back when that " _Fire Truck_ " 🚒 was brand spanking New 🤗 Even that old Bus... Maybe we all get to "go back one day" to a special time that we cherish the most. When we had our families, Our Moms & Dads, Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles and especially "Little Brothers 😢.. And to be surprised as a Child, coming down the stairs on Christmas morning to see what Santa left us ✝🙏🏻☮ Ahhhhh, really, those were the days. 💖
This is my grandfather. This man could tell you the stories of his life for days, each one just as interesting as the last. Tough as nails doesn't come close to describing him.
I live in Texarkana but worked with David’s Chaman in nursing she is now Davida Workman this is so interesting! Thanks for sharing! Grew up with all of this ! Just started watching episodes of Bonanza again
My great granny was my best friend. I would sit and listen to her for hours. Born in 1898. She outlived most of her 9 children. She died on my 16th birthday in 1996 . She lived an incredible life.
Me too. I loved listening to my Grandmothers story of her life. What they went through and how they lived just amazed me. She also just came to America from Poland in 1912. I love my family history! ❤
I could listen to older folks talking history all day, you might be on to something with this video. Instead of reading the history you're getting it straight from the horse's mouth, this was awesome thanks.
Lamont this particular Taping was about THE MOST ENJOYABLE I’ve seen by you!! This was so kind that you allowed this gentleman to be with you in your Taping,,, thank you for your SWEETNESS, GENUINE , EVERYTHING ❤😊
My husband's nickname is Hoss because he looks like Dan Blocker 😊 RIP Ricky Nelson and the other 6 killed in that plane crash. Thank you for your cool stories, Mr. Sims!
These are the people who made America great!!! I love listening to the older generation and their great stories ❤❤❤ Thank you, Lamont, for this great video! 😊❤
Lamont: "Do you have any fond memories of your mom or dad?" Kenny Simms "Hold my beer cuz I'm gonna tell you how I pulled spark plugs out of a runaway tractor"... This guy is Texas tough,!! Not sure if that was a fond memory but it's cool he shared it with us!
This is an awesome video! Mr Sims is a national treasure! When I was a kid (I'm 75) we had a meat locker. We did have a refrigerator but most people didn't have deep freezers. Please do more of these stories 😊
Kenneth Sims is a treasure! I'm sure he's kin to Dan Blocker. He is so interesting. I could listen to him talk for hours. This was fabulous! Thanks a bunch and keep on traveling and meeting folks like him!
Kenneth has all his wits about him for being born in 1946. May the good Lord bless him with many more years. This was thee best! I love listening to stories from long ago. ❤✌🏽And I have to add that you looked genuinely happy and fulfilled after hanging with Kenneth.
That was excellent Lamont!! You made that guys Millennium!! He was so proud telling you things he did and saw in his lifetime!! I’m proud of both of you!! Totally awesome!! 🫶🏻❤️🫶🏻
Great! It was nostalgic and heart warming appealing to everyone who grew up watching bananza and country music. Life has something for everyone and their stories deserve to be told happy or sad it is historical and helps young and old come to terms with the past and the present. Great!!!
The 50's TV show "Ozzie & Harriet" were real people. Ozzie and Harriet Nelson.... The parents of Ricky Nelson. Matthew and Gunnar Nelson who had a couple hits in the 1980's ("Love and Affection", "After the Rain"), are the sons of Ricky Nelson and Kristin Nelson. Kristin's maiden name was Harmon. She's the older sister of actor Mark Harmon.
I love it when our elder generation tells stories to remind me my dad what a sweetheart❤ thank you Lamont for having him on that was just made my day thank you very much😂😅
Wow!! I absolutely LOVE listening to stories seasoned folks lived through. Mr. Sims is a treasure. He's a natural born story teller. Sounds like he's a tour guide for Dekalb, TX. I love him to pieces and could listen to him all day! 🤗
Back in high school in the mid to late 80s, our school did a once a year band concert. One of the members of the band had to go to our school in order to play, and we usually had about 8 or 9 bands. It was fairly professional as our school counselor was in the 60s musical group The Lennon Sisters and her sons, all older than me, produced the concerts with rented sound and light equipment. Starting in freshman year, I volunteered and stayed on for 4 years. My sophomore year, the youngest of our counselor's sons was in an unknown band, the name I forgot. However two of the members were Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, the twin sons of Rick Nelson who had died months prior. The school mate was in the band for a few years, including when they were signed and called themselves 'Nelson', and from what I understand played with them on and off. Sadly, he passed away in 2021. RIP Joey!
Mr. Sims is an adorable Southern gentleman! Great video, Lamont. My dearly departed mama was from Texas-I'm sorry I never got to go there. She told me how wonderful people are there. ♥️
We got lucky enough to meet Johnny Paycheck in 1998 at a Merle Haggard concert ; Johnny was opening up for him. Bonnie Owens was still singing with Merle’s band . It was quite a show!
What a story! Thank you Mr. Sims and sharing your story. You are one of those that I could listen to all day, and I am almost your age, being 72! Thank you too Lamont!
What a gem of a video this is! I love hearing stories from older folks, especially folks from the country. And yes indeed, Mr. Sims definitely resembles Dan Blocker! Matter of fact, at first glance I thought he was Dan Blocker in the thumbprint image.
A dying breed. Men like this fellow is what made America. Good luck to you sir. On another note I saw Dan Blocker, Miss Kitty and Festus at a Christmas parade in Danville . Also in the parade was Miss USA. She was a student at Strafford College which was here as well. I was 15 years old at the time. The year was 1969 .
Great video. I really enjoyed that. We have to start asking and listening to our older generation, for they were there, knew the people, the places and the stories.
Lamont , all your videos are great, but this one is for the ages. Always enjoy stories from the mouth of the horse so to speak. Thank You for this gem.
Mr. Sims was absolutely adorable!!! Thank you for sharing him with us and he DEFINITELY resembles Dan Blocker - that's wild - they have to be closely related!
Mr. Kenneth Sims seems like a great man. I enjoyed him telling us about his memories. I have always loved listening to the good ole days. I was very close to my Granny and Paw Paw. I grew up about an hour south of Dekalb, Tx. Great area to grow up in. Thanks Lamont...one of your best shows yet ❤
