    Just a tip, it's actually a very bad idea to print bolts in this orientation on FDM 3D printers. They'll be FAR stronger if you print them laid on the side, this way the layers won't be able to separate so easily.
    To do this easily, lay the bolt down sideways in the CAD or slicer software, and cut away the bottom 20%-ish of it so that it has a flat surface at that side. (No supports needed)
    Yes, a chunk of that hex head will be trimmed away as well. If you're clever about it, you could print the hex head separately and glue it on - or you could use a different type of head (I usually just use a flat rectangular one when I 3D print bolts)
    If you're doing anything that requires any kind of strength, this is the way to go.

      Thanks you for the great piece of advice. This has been confirmed by a recent failure of one of the bolts which I tried to loosen. And I started thinking of choosing another orientation.
