This whole situation of this band is a whole mind f..k. I used to be into these guys and remember seeing them live twice in my hometown when I was getting into the surf punk scene as a high school teen before, it was surprising that sh..was going down on the interrupters/Swmrs and Regrets tour..f really bad situation, had fun at their shows in the pit at the time, but when this all broke with the Orwells and the Frights as well, it really bummed me out..but hey we still got Wavves,Fidlar,Together Pangea, Stuff like that that gets the angst out of me in a refreshing way, interesting to see where this scene has gone..
and the fact I'm seeing this after Lydia's very public breakup with Dylan is crazy. To date, Lydia posted like four tiktoks and 2 instagram posts about the situation. Oversharing and coping in a really weird public way.
Yeah, I remember that Jesse Malin show. He's been friends with BJA for years and years which is why Cole (who lives in Philly now) played his album release, and the only real reason they were able to play that NYC show at the Bowery Electric this past December (Because Jesse owns it).
Ik this is off topic, but I'm seeing FIDLAR on Saturday and I appreciate your video on them back on the old channel. Idk if your training would get in the way of making it, but would you ever make a updated version of it one day? Idk just a thought. Anyways thanks for the content dawg!
They're gonna release something soon so it would be nice to wait a bit, have Fidlar release their stuff and then Donovan can make a new video about them. It's gonna be interesting to see Fidlar without Elvis
Shhh, don't tell these echo chamber dwellers that. For real though, anyone who's honest with themselves and has just a smidgen of self awareness can see right through her advantageous bullshit.
There are a lot of details on this matter that she and public leaves out like the fact that her family was ok with their relationship it was just when stuff started getting bad when she did this and I don’t defend Joey I defend the rest of the band that got their music careers hurt because of something their bandmember did not them the others in the band really do care about women’s safety but Joey ig didn’t and it ruined the rest of the band
Not a fan of SWMRS but I think its fair to say that the metoo movement has effectively killed the punk scene. I saw the beginning of this when I was active in the scene and it pretty much made me want to stop going to shows altogether. Punks turned have turned into hippies. The scene has gotten soft.
I am from a different generation, but hearing people complain about the punk scene not being safe is hilarious to me. That is pretty much the point, is it not?
“Yeah, giving women a platform to talk about getting sexual assaulted ruined my angry, whiny, loser music. It’s not fun anymore because people have to actually face the consequences of their actions. Punks have gone soft because they respect each other.” - Said some guy on the internet.
