This is amazing! Audrey is getting close to being fully tame with Soo. We rescued a street cat when I was a kid. She was terrified of humans. My Dad started putting food out and would sit and watch while she ate. In time, he moved the bowl closer and closer to himself each day, until she was eating right next to him. Then he started trying to pat her. She would run away but would come back. One day she let him pet her and soon started to head butt for pets. Before long she got use to the entire family. She lived in our house the rest of her days and loved us so much. She really seemed grateful for being rescued.
You could try giving Audrey the treat on the floor, and keep your hand very still on the floor nearby. Over time you can leave your hand closer to the treat, and eventually put the treat in your hand. That way she gets used to having your hand near her face without actually eating out of it, and you don't train her to hit hands
I wonder if Soo would have better luck offering Audrey her snack if he holds it in his fingers as she's accustomed to those from the nose greeting. It's entertaining to watch her slap his hand though 🤣
Audrey's determined to get the food without eating out of Soo's hand. Also it's cute how Bonji and Yoji like to hang out together, they are so sweet to one another. 😄🤗😍💕
So excited to see Audrey and Mejoo bonding in the future! I wonder if there are other ways to help chill Audrey's mood like maybe playing soft white noise or classical music? Or maybe testing out ways to pet Audrey with different tools at first? Of course the process will have to be slow but I am curious to see :)
you should give the older Audrey videos a watch! mejoo used to do regular touch practice with Audrey and started by using a soft cat toy and then eventually introduced her hands. Audrey has even sat in her lap for 10+ minutes before! she's really chill and tolerant after vet visits, which is how the lap sitting and petting was able to happen :)
Maybe with Yogi and Soo, "absence makes the heart grow fonder." Is Audrey really hitting or is she trying to scoop the treat out quickly? And the end, when there was no treat, she came over and seeing nothing, THEN she hit him! "Don't try and fool me!"
Audrey continues to make trust progress. Maybe she will learn to tap lightly for treat. Suggestions that have worked for me are to place your hand on the ground and look away from Audrey.
