External Timecode & Genlock on Canon C300

In this video we’ll show how to make a Canon C300 accept external Timecode and Genlock.
Turn on all your Lockit devices, choose one of them to be the Master Clock - then press-and-hold the green button to broadcast timecode and framerate through ACN and you are set.
Let’s start with Timecode.
Make sure all cameras and Lockits run on the same frame rate.
- Lockit: press green and red simultaneously to enter menu, then and navigate to “Project Rate”
- Camera:
- Enter Menu
- Go to “Recording/Media Setup”
- Adjust “Frame Rate”
How to make the camera accept external Timecode:
- Enter Menu
- Go to “Picture/Terminals Setup”
- Go to “Timecode”
- Select “Frame Rate”
- As “Mode” select “Preset”
- As “Run” select “Free run”
- As “TC In/Out” select “In”
For this camera you need an LTC-Out Timceode cable.
Connect it to the BNC Timecode Connector.
Now the camera accepts the external Timecode source - indicated by the “E” sign next to the Timecode.
Now let’s take a look at the Genlock.
In the Lockit Menu set to Sync output to the same value as in the camera menu. Usually “P” for Progressive is the right choice.
How to make the camera accept external Genlock signal:
- Enter Menu
- Go to “Picture/Terminals Setup”
- Go to “GENLOCK/SYNC OUT Term.”
- Select “Genlock Input”
- As “SYNC Scan Mode” select “P”
For the genlock sync you need an extra cable - the SYNC-OUT
Connect it to the BNC Genlock / Sync Connector.
Now the camera accepts the external Genlock Signal- indicated by the “Gen” sign below to the Timecode. It takes a few seconds until the camera calibrates to the Genlock input.
