    I’m glad I saw this video last night. My wife and I stopped into a pub and they had a bottle of the 10. I really enjoyed it. We went to the distillery a few weeks ago but unfortunately it was closed for visitors and wasn’t able to try it.

      Glad you were able to try it Mark! … it’s still one of my favorites! Cheers!

    BTW....glad to have found your channel, as have the same Sherry preference in a Scotch. 👍
    Great channel, mate!

    just got this bottling about a month ago as a replacement for Glendronach 12 because they are similarly priced around me(mid $50's in StL if you know where to look). it is chill filtered and from what little bit the tin says about the maturation, they only use their "sherry casks for two maturation cycles". It was such a blast of sweetness initially that it reminded me of Amaretto and makes Glendronach look lite in comparison. To that I'd say the main difference between the two is that Edradour doesnt seem to have much malt coming through, which is part of why I enjoy Glendro so much. I've also been playing with the Ralfy method of diluting heavily and let me tell ya, this malt is a tank when it comes to holding water. I've gone as far as adding 3 parts water to 1 part whiskey and it never faltered or felt watery at all. And as far as the sherry character itself, it reminds much more of the Balvenie style with that awesome long lingering finish that leaves you deliberating taking another drink or keep chewing the last sip.

      Very well described … it like chewing a liquid .. lol … I have to give the water trick a try, sounds like an interesting experiment. I agree, malt is a little shy on this one, probably because everything else is kicked up to 11. Thanks for your input … cheers!

    As this year is nearing its end, the Edradour 10yo might be one of the biggest and nicest tasting surprises I've had in 2021. Hard to believe it's only a 10yo... I've tried 15-21yo single malts this year which tasted (and looked) far worse. The color is just unbelievable. Having this whisky in bottles, it's hard to believe the distillery made 12yo Caledonia one, which is not that good, imo (but still above average). In Poland you can get it for $40-50 but I would gladly pay $70 for it in Chicago or even $75 ;) It's THAT good. Scotland's (not so) little gem indeed - enjoy!

      Couldn’t agree more … I think it has become a top 3 for me this year. Cheers!

    We only get it in 40% versions in Europe… (this is still good though). I get so envious of you Americans that get so many more 43%ers, seems like we are missing out here :(
    Good review as usual btw.! :)

      Thanks Johnny! … that does suck that you guys get more of these dropped to 40% over there. Not sure why that is? Regulations? .. either way, as good as edradour is I would think even at 40% it holds up. Cheers!

    Suggestion make yourself an infinite bottle . What is this you ask well it’s basically you take an empty whisky bottle or decanter and effectively fill it with your dregs of your favourite whiskies so if Sherry cask or peaty or even speysides .
    Cask strength etc anyway you get my point . What I’d does if there all different strengths or flavours you should get once it’s mixed different layers of flavour coming through .
    Try and stick to the same type .
    So peat whisky with peat .

    Actually, the correct pronunciation is, "edra-door"...with rolling the "r" at the end, Spanish style.
    Know, as was at the distillery in 2001, & the head distiller there, came to our table & we had a wee chat! Was a magical visit, will never forget...as well as still one of best Scotch's ever tasted! Try a wee dram, then you'll know. 😎

    This one worth a try on the hunt for the cask strength one? Edradour 12 Year Old Caledonia…From a collaboration between the Edradour distillery and Scottish musician, Dougie MacLean, comes this 12 year old single malt whisky, bottled without chill-filtration and is Natural colour, and at 46% ABV.

      Hey Matt, familiar with it but have not seen a bottle first hand. Ironically my buddy was in Calgary a few days ago and pickup a bottle …. Looking forward to his review. I did just receive the signatory 46% but had no luck finding the 14 year … oh well, keep looking :-) … cheers! And thanks for reaching out.

    I love the 10 but personally go for the edradour Caledonia as it’s 12 years and 46 or the signatory,(who own edradour) non chill filtered collection 10 year which is also non chill and 46% mmmmmmm

    • @happyhourwhiskey
      @happyhourwhiskey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jack! .... I have not had the Caledonia yet, it's on the list. I have both the Signatory 46% and the Cask strength in the nice decanter .... have not cracked them yet but looking forward to both. Cheers!

    They are now owned by Signatory, who also sell a Edradour 10 year old at 46% ABV!

    • @happyhourwhiskey
      @happyhourwhiskey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t realize they were owned by signatory…. I have recently acquired both the 46% and the 12 year cask strength. Have not opened either yet, maybe a fun tasting this weekend! Cheers DileepB!

    Damn. It's only sold at 40% where I live.

      I love this stuff! …. I would still pickup a bottle at 40% ….. I have a 46% and a cask strength signatory waiting to be cracked …. Now that I think of it, what am I waiting for!!! … lol … Cheers!

      @@happyhourwhiskey To be fair, I sampled some at my local whisky outlet sometime ago, and it stood out. I recall buying Glengoyne 12 instead. Would love to see a Glenfarclas 15 comparison video of you haven’t already made one.

      @happyhourwhiskey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nzmarco I don't remember doing a farclas 15 review .... i'll have to see what I have left of that range and add it to the list. Cheers!
