1) You can change the station with manual tuning by going onto the ‘tuning’ menu. The bottom left. 2)You can just press reset to stop the dinging (the button on the bottom of the wiper stalk) 3) Bluetooth audio wasn’t a thing in 2007, you can get a lightning AMI connector from the dealership. Phone is out of the way in the glovebox to not distract. 4)Pretty sure the ski bag can be completely removed (a new panel can be fitted) so it has a normal pass thru
these videos are really helpful as im looking to pick one of these up, but the community for them is so small and tight knit that its difficult to find any good info on the car from an owners perspective. I know that I'm pretty late to the party and you already sold the s8 and bought a viper, but i just thought i would show my appreciation for documenting the car and helping people like me decide on what wed like to do and how to do some things with it.
Love the clip, as a recent Audi convert really 90 percent of the problems are due to the age of the S8 and the fact is it is a huge beast of a car. Lets be honest 80% of all A8s or S8 are used as limos . I have all of my sounds on a USB that i can select via the MMI. My phone connects perfectly after getting a Bluetooth interface lead.. As far as cost of running an Audi like this or it's baby brother like I own definitely extended warranty or mechanical cover is recommended.
The ski bag is just an optional extra that the original buyer opted for. Not all s8 have them. I too wish that they had a split sear to pull down but you would lose a lot of the sound proofing qualities from the trunk. If the stalk fix for the seat belt chime does mot work you maybe able to later it via vcds. Mine only comes on if you have the seat belt off at 10 miles per hour and above. The radio stuff you are meant to learn about it before you drive the car (LOL 😁 who does that) There are also some ways to do this with steering wheel controls that will show up above your speedo on the DIS. Do you have the manual as there is a separate one just for the mmi and when you read it you learn a lot 😊
Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I just tried the stalk button. It didn't work, but maybe vcds will take care of it. What kind of man would I be if I read the directions? LOL
About the blutooth. Blutooth was very new when that car came out and so was it on phones too. You gotta remember that this car is from 2007 and alot have changed scinse then. And also you cant blame the car for not having a ligthning cable but the older iphone cable instead. Again, you gotta remember. This car is from 2007 and lightning cables didnt exist in that time.
1.if you thing MMI is complicated, you doesnt try iDrive in BMW 7er E65. 2.gong for seat belt can be decoded... and gong when door is open is only in US coding for cluster, in EU is doesnt.
hi buddy to stop the dinging theres a button under the right side wiper control arm so open the door and just press the button under the right arm and it will stop
If the ski bag is such an issue, take 5 minutes and remove it! For God's sake talk about nit-picking. As for the Blue tooth either buy the adaptor or get a newer model, the radio can be manually tuned if you just look at the screen and follow the instructions. Oh, and you can turn the warning noise off if you wish or just put the car in park and turn the key to off when you get out. You have got a great car ENJOY IT!
I guess you didnt really figure out how to manually tune the radio. What you have to do is push the lower left button next to the MMI scroll button. Then a submenu will appear where you can tune to whichever radio station you like
Rear arm rest houses the Audi first aid kit and the cup holders. Cup holders slide out, the well stocked kit lives under the lift up section of the armrest. In highly speced cars that have the MMI remote for rear seat passenger control, it also lives under the armrest
I know that repairs aren't the cheapest for this car when something does break, but you say that you often worry about those things. Does this happen frequently? My apologies if I missed this info elsewhere.
I have the same car in the same state as you. My only complaint is that my Sirius favorites don't transfer to the driver input... Meaning, channeling up goes +1 and not to my next favorite. Otherwise we don't ski in MN.
You have to remember the car is 10 years old, the only things I could fault this car is gas mileage because in NZ gas is US$7.00 a gallon and it takes 98 octane, also the tyres can be expensive in NZ for good ones, the deprication would have to be the biggest killer if you brought it new. My old S8 the prevoius owner paid $280k NZ I brought it for $33k 8 years later NZ with 32k miles on the clock. But overall awesome car best I have owned. Thanks Ryan.
Agreed! By far the nicest car I've owned and I feel bad for the person that took the $100k hit on depreciation. Z rated tires are spendy. Thanks for input as always! Enjoy your weekend!
One does not haul 2x4's in an S8 you get your hired help to do the mundane tasks like that. 😂 On a serious note the dinging was the first thing I sorted in mine and a few moments of vcds coding and it's gone forever.
IF you have aux in middle storage you can buy a aux to bluetooth Device and you just put on aux in your car and you have bluetooth and you can lissen to music from your phone
but you have to find it in your mmi. you should be able to play via bluetooth on the existing system. i´m told by a friend if it can´t something is removed from the car!?!
I have an 2006 A6 your videos are great. I also have a T-shirt. But, I have been left stranded by this car a few times. Once was just that the intake tube came loose and caused it to run lean. It took 2 weeks to find out what it was, and replaced a few sensors. Love my car though lol
Hey for controling mmi u can use left scrool button on stering and look in dash in middle of speedo and rev and for ding u can enable just three dings or parma disable over odb2 i use for this china bt odb2 and do it over phone with Carista app so with computer need to go to. is something like warnings 2003EU; Canada .. I think u can even disable just passenger ding. I have it complet off .
Thanks for helping me figure out that the S8 isn’t the right car for me to buy at this stage. I’m getting too old to enjoy turning wrenches, and too cheap to spend that kind of money at the dealer.
on reliability. you seem to have put a few miles on it, and really no problems (other than the shifter, and odds and ends). my first jag (1990 xj6, black) was perfect for the 100 mile trip home when i bought it. the very next morning, no start $%^#$. threw a crank sensor in it, and drove it without issues until i sold it. i think audi has much better electronics, even for the amount of tech, i wouldn't worry. its not a jag lol.
I got excited and went out and tried this. Unfortunately it didn't work. It just cycles through display options on my driver display. Maybe vcds will take care of this one. Thanks for watching!
Wat about the engine its easy to fix coz in my country this car its cost more than 120000$ win its new but if the engine busted you can bay this car 4000$ only 😭😭
Can you try to make the v10 crackel on the downshifts. Don’t know if it is possible on the S8, but the R8 v10 5.2 can do it, sooo? Maybe a ECU tune or something?
BassVentura OK, thanks for your answer, good to know! We have a miltek exhaust on our S8, so it is louder than usual, but i miss the lound crackling. I asked a question and i got an answer. Thank you! Sorrry for my english!
I'm on my second Audi and you are right they are annoying at times. I tell people that when you buy an Audi you don't just own a car you are in a relationship. So like a relationship you have to put up with a lot of crap to enjoy the good things. 🙄
@@g.w.7893 they can be very complicated cars to work on was my train of thought. As they get older (mine has 243,000 miles) the chance of breaking something other than what you are repairing because it has to be removed first is crap. Also it took ten hours to replace the starter. That could have been better though out. But all said I wouldn't give mine up for anything else. The driving experience is to great.
the VID TITLE says I HATE in capital letters then you immediately walk back the click bait title. THUMBS DOWN. I owned 4 Audis are there are plenty of things to hate and they all are about THE LACK OF RELIABILITY AND REPAIRS
Hey John, I appreciate you watching the video. I was just having a little fun playing off of the "5 Things I Hate" TH-cam trend. I hope you'll give some of my other Audi videos a shot. Have a great day!
1) You can change the station with manual tuning by going onto the ‘tuning’ menu. The bottom left.
2)You can just press reset to stop the dinging (the button on the bottom of the wiper stalk)
3) Bluetooth audio wasn’t a thing in 2007, you can get a lightning AMI connector from the dealership. Phone is out of the way in the glovebox to not distract.
4)Pretty sure the ski bag can be completely removed (a new panel can be fitted) so it has a normal pass thru
"I can't get my skis into my Audi S8" is the most first-world problem I have ever heard.
I agree with the interface but I love complex rather than plain boring shit.
hey the sky bag portion can be removed it is clipped @ the top so the hole will be a bit bigger
2:10 You do not have to confirm, it is enough to select the level, the menu takes over by itself.
There’s a Bluetooth adapter That you plug right on the end of it it works perfect never have to touch the court again
Yes
No ventilated seats on S8? My regular A8 has that
Northern car why would you want vent. seats?

Did the MMI have 2G or 3G on the 2007 ?
If you still have the car, see if there is a button on the right hand side on the wipers stick on the bottom side to stop the singing.

Doesnt s8 have carbon interior decals instead of wood???
Carbon interior trim was an option.

The ski bag is very easy to remove just take a flat head or trim tool and push on the tabs out.

Yo there is a device buy off Amazon ..that plugs into that wire in the glove box and you'll be able to use the phone to play music / wirelessly/
link?
What are the feature in the rear arm rest I’m looking to buy an 07 s8 in Michigan and am curious about features on the car
Rear arm rest houses the Audi first aid kit and the cup holders.
Cup holders slide out, the well stocked kit lives under the lift up section of the armrest.
In highly speced cars that have the MMI remote for rear seat passenger control, it also lives under the armrest
Cool thanks

I completely agree. Fuel cost is high also. Do you know if there's any way to get MMI update? I'd like to update my maps too
I haven't looked into that yet, but I'm sure there is and I bet it's complicated. LOL
with VCDS you can disable the seatbelt dinging
Is this car reliable?
I know that repairs aren't the cheapest for this car when something does break, but you say that you often worry about those things. Does this happen frequently? My apologies if I missed this info elsewhere.

Different wheels, mirrors, fog lights and tail lights

The ding is just an American thing dude my Audi’s in England doesn’t beep about the seat belt until you hit 30mph
Figures we'd add something lame like that. LOL
I recommend the v 10 6 speed manual . Most reliable according to Land Rover technicians

Shouldn’t it be dinging for these things

only works when its making that sound, you tap it and it stops the noise. The only one it doesn't work on is the seatbelt.
