I have the 945, it was my first from Benchmade. Being from Canada where people carry much larger knives I'm not worried about intimidating anyone but I always felt the 940 was just a little too long for it to really be everyday edc worthy. Man am I ever happy with the 945, it will do 99.99% of what the 940 can but when you put it in your pocket, it truly seems to disappear
Great choice Marcus! I have my 940 since 2010, really really like it, though for some reason the paramilitary 2 gets more love these days in my daily life. I do not like the scale down version of the pm2 the para3, but maybe I will give this 945 a shot. Thanks for sharing your thoughts I hope you will enjoy your new knife.
I’ve always wanted to own the Spyderco Para 2. Too big for me to EDC but would use it in the garage. Apparently (from watching Best Damn EDC), Taylor mentioned there is even a super rare one with a Tanto blade instead of a drop blade. Would love to own one at some stage. Thanks Hunter.
Just ordered a Spyderco Para3 black blade and cannot wait for another awesome edc knife made by notorious Benchmade. Great review video u've done here. Decided to be one of ur fans. Wanna hear some advice about how to choose between 940 and 945.
You perfectly articulated why I feel uneasy about buying large knives. Was about to buy a buck 110 the other day and luckily glimpsed the 112 in the next cabinet just before I pulled the trigger. Bigger aint always better. Great video
Love love love the 940. Also love the 9400 auto. Benchmade is very hit or miss for me. The Butterfly tax is ridiculous. And my favorite Benchmade the Adamas Mini has lock rock and Benchmade basically says it is what is ,your $280 knife for life. That said the only issue with 940’s is lock tight on the pivot.
Hi Marcus, I'm am having an internal struggle between the 940 and 945, this will be my first EDC, I love the backspacer of the 940 but feel the size could be a little intimidating, I searched you video library but couldn't find the mentioned follow up video, did you do one? if not what are you thought after 12 month carry?
Hey there. Thanks for watching. First of all, I’m probably not going to make this any easier for you -> sorry. Short advice: get the 940. Long advice: I’ve carried the 945 more because it’s less intimidating, I’m more likely to pull it out and use it and it’s never let me down. But I don’t love it in the way I love the 940. The 940 is the OG, the back spacer looks better and all in, it’s ’the one’. It’s super personal so nobody can make this decision for you.
My 2 most carried knives are the mini bugout and mini griptilian… it was between this and the mini adamas for me.. this won out as soon as I held it… also Try a bugout clip. I switched mine to a satin bugout deep carry clip… I may go full blown scales and stuff for this.. but so far the stock setup it actually really good
The 'Achilles heel' of Benchmade knives are the weak omega springs. I'm in the UK and I've had to send back my 940 (under warranty) twice. I'm not certain, but I think they've installed the stronger Adamas springs because it's now bullet proof.
@@MarcusCreates No idea Marcus. I hardly ever took it out of the house. Just fiddled with it occasionally whilst watching TH-cam videos. As a result I was without it for nearly a year, but I have to say that the Benchmade warranty team were wonderful and kept me informed (via email) at every stage. I love my 940 for sure, but I'd never rely on it exclusively. I guess that's what Cold Steel is for.. Lol.. ;)
I love the way the 940 looks but I don't like the way it cuts 🤣 which is kind of a big deal when purchasing a knife. I have a 940-2 and it is gathering dust. I live in the city and work in an office so I don't have a huge need for a chunky blade that is great for prying or cleaning hoofs. I often carry my BM mediator or my mini griptilian. I wanted to love the 940 but it just didn't go as planned.
I just can’t like the mini griptilian. I want to but just doesn’t feel right in my hand. 90% of the time I’m opening Amazon boxes with my 940/945 so works a charm.
2,5 ares I bought 940 Osborne for 210€ now for that price I can buy litle one 945 and why to bee litle shorter. My Osborne is in my packet every day 2,5ares and I have Microtech Ultratech, LUDT , some good Kizer knifes but yust I fol in love in my 940 and hopefully I will had it all my life. I like 945 but price are crazy now 940 cost 250€ and lutle one 200 and that is too much. But if someone is buying one knife 940 is one who solve all my problems
the clone is a good knife sometime D2 steel( the best edge holding steel) and from $20.00 -$50.00 ! I had the real one to had to replace broken springs( with Ganze (G lock springs ,they never break ) and gave it to a friend it did not impress me at all and I got it for $170.00 it was a good knife aside from the springs breaking ! I like the clone 940-1 it has D2 steel mine was $60.00 but they are down to $27.77 I saw somewhere with 440C that is better edge holding than S30V !

Right on. Having a smaller blade sometimes means it gets used more. That’s better EDC in my book.

My keys ding the edge with open back knives. Just keep that in mind when using a carabiner in the same pocket.

My 945 is more of a emerald Shiney color and the 9400 I have is almost a dark green
