@the_fools_tale - I picked up DCC based on your review and my God it has consumed my time completely. I started on July 3rd and I’ve finished first 5 books and halfway through the sixth one! Can’t wait and thank you for the review/recommendation!
I'm tackling the Malazan series this year, and Gardens of the Moon has been my top read so far in 2024. Followed by Deadhouse Gates and Memories of Ice. Non-Malazan would be The Gutter Prayer by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan
Ag! So jelous you are having a wonderful reading year! I am seriously struggling to find 5 stars!! Althouuugh. Murder at Spindle Manor was also within my top 10! Can't wait to pick Silverblood Promise then, you pitch it, I buy it!
My favorite books of the year so far: "A Master of Djinn" - P. Djèlí Clark "The Tainted Cup" - Robert Jackson Bennett "Mirrored Heavens" - Rebecca Roanhorse "Annihilation" - Jeff VanderMeer (not a 5 star, but I can't stop thinking about it) "Kavithri" - Aman J. Bedi
I'm 79% into DCC5, they're about to enter the building and I'm guessing now I should wait until I can do a one-sitting read of this section. Something tells me I shouldn't try to read this in 5-min breaks between tasks. Ty for this video and all others! 😊
I am deep into Pedro Urvi’s Path of the Ranger (20 bk) Series - well written- insane characters and creatures that I can not get enough of! I enjoy all of your book reviews and comments 💖
Having primarily listened to fantasy the best sci-fi book I’ve listened to is lite sci-fi with the tech, but “Tiger Chair” by Max Brooks. Damn it hits hard. For fantasy it’s tough. I’ve listened to some that I enjoyed like “Can’t Spell Treason without Tea” as well as the Legends & Lattes books. Tough to choose between them. And the Forever Fantasy Online series (first two books) were good. The second was an improvement.
Silverblood Promise was great. Glad to see you recognizing it. The dialogue between Lukan and Flea is engaging. So far this year the first law series cannot be touched. On #2 Before They Are Hanged is looking to be better than the first one.
So am I hearing it correctly that Bryan stole your desert setting from you? I'd sue the guy 👀 Haha no but really, I am happy to hear that you have found so many gems already! Couldn't agree more on Farseer, Warsong, Spindle and Blood Stones! And dammit, I really need to get my priorities straight and read DCC already... My favourite SFF book of 2024 so far is Hell for Hire by Rachel Aaron, and I think you'd have a blast with it as well!
I really want to get into Dungeon Crawler Carl series... but I'm not an audio/ebook guy, want them in paperback but can't seem to find them for a reasonable price. Otherwise, my two best series/reads so far 2024 is Empire of the Vampire/Damned and Suneater... omg not only are these two series the best I've read in '24, but up there with the best ever I've read.
Silverblood promise was the disappointment of the year for me. I was so hyped for this book, but in the end it had a lot of flaws that kinda ruined the really good Ideas. It was not a bad book, but just not what I hoped it would be. Lukan is just to stupid sometimes, but does not get punished for it. That felt a bit cheap. Also you could tell that this is a debut, the auther often made some dialogues that were obvious info-dumbs. so basically a lot telling instead of showing. Overall it was ok, I will read book 2 and I'm looking forward to the worldbuilding we will get there.
@@fourcornersofthepage8374 yo moron ....nothing to with the video ...Andrews updates I religiously follow ...I was just alluding to the slim pickings we have, in terms of TRUE epic fantasy books released this year .. It has been an utterly disappointing thus far in terms of fantasy releases of 2024..barring a few gems like Disquiet God's, Empire of the Damned sprinkled in between I am a lover of this genre for 25+ years , so keep your smart arse comments to yourself idiot..
Wait! I'm friends with ANDREW WATSON!? 😉 Thanks for shouting out A Princess of Oldir, bud 🙏

Ah that makes me so happy to hear!
Great picks! I've just started The Eye of the Bedlam Bride and it's off to a great start! :) I also really enjoyed Princess of Oldir as well. :)
Top 3 this year so far are:
Fools assassin
The golden fool
Empire of silence

Ohhh I think I’m going to start Malazan towards the end of the year!
I love Gardens but I stalled out at Memories. Planning on starting over in December 🤪
@@ithrahmunchswallow468 It's a LOT of reading, for sure.
@@ronaldwatson3862 it's tough on audio 😵💫

Ahh hopefully the second half will be better! Silverblood is a ton of fun!

I’ll need to look into this!
DCC 5 is still my favorite. It hit me hard in the feels. The ending had me starting the next book straight away.
Nice! :)
Another Fantasy Mystery is: The Blood of Crows (2022) by Alex C. Pierce.
I think that Tori Tecken talked about this one being pretty good!

My 2 favorites I have read so far this year are These Burning Stars by Bethany Jacobs and The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon!
Best book so far this year? Close tie between Feist’s Shadow of a Dark Queen and Gemmell’s Legend
@the_fools_tale - another great video with a superb list, love how these types of videos you make expand my TBR to a whole new level, thank you 📖☕
So many unique books! Thanks for the recommendations man

Right?! I told that Bryan, sand is my thing! I do need to check that Hell for Hire out
You have finally broken me down. I have to get the Dungeon Crawler Carl books now. I actually prefer the new covers.
Looove The Seven Swords 🙌🏻
Have you read the Sun Eater series? Highly recommend. A classic in the making 👌🏼
Do you read other fanatasy than sword wielding armour clad stories?
How do you find what you want to read?
Where did you get your bookshelf? I’ve been looking for ones just like it, but I haven’t had any luck.
Next UK!
Damn I know none of these books but I really enjoyed the three body problems series.

First time I managed to give the first like on YT 😂🎉
What about Bookshop hunters new episode ANDREW? Ps great video
It has only been a week 🤣 There will be more though!

Agreed! I know a lot of people really liked this one, but it felt kinda basic to me.
Fun 🎉
Theon Greyjoy
When DCC encountered the evil, unvaccinated leprechauns, that's when I threw the book in the trash.
I don't see any Sci-fi....
What an absolutely underwhelming list . ....
What an absolutely underwhelming comment my dude
