    I used to repair these,the speaker box is quite easy to work on, behind the pale blue cover are two weights like a fly wheel. on each part should be a small piece of felt these control the speed of talking. you should see cut outs where they sit.if you replace the felt trim it to suit to get the speed right,also where they rub onto make sure the surface is smooth and not all scratched,this happens when the felt is missing, on the front should be a piece with a needle/pin in check its not rusty this what rests on the spool of ribbon where the recording is. also on this needle holder should be a tiny spring which returns the arm for the next command line dependent on how far the string is pulled, the pull cord is the same size as the cord fitted on overlock sewing machines.fiddley to do the first time but once you have done one it's quite easy. Colour of the talking box vary depending on year of the figure,also the sponge you see to stop the box from moving about needs to in good condition this helps with the talking, later talking boxes have a tapered spring fitted instead of the sponge

    I enjoy watching other people tinkering around and having a go at getting things back into condition. This was a good attempt, I think the speed needs slowing down on the speech to make it more understandable. Top repair on that shoulder joint. I've subscribed

    just for info . remove all that black stuff off the back of the talker box and the body. it's there to put pressure to make the box touch the speaker circle. there is a thick foamy double sided tape that works well as a replacement .try different thickness to see what works best( one piece, add another on top) . There is thin train oil you can use on the moving pins. also try cleaning the needle that sits in the tape ,it can get stuff on it . clean the spring too ,sometime it can get gunk on it that slowsit down . it wont help the voice but it could help the speed .

      Sure does, just got a talking AT commander today, good to see your tips, figure is near mint but looks sounds like the recording could use a cleaning. BTW I do similar videos, vintage GI Joe and 1:6 scale toy repair and reviews, good luck with your channel.

      Alright, I'll check your videos out. If you're figures arms seem a little loose, I've got a video about fixing those as well on the talker. Good luck!

    What’s the fix for if the string doesn’t want to retract? I’ve oiled mine mechanism. CAnt see where it’s getting stuck. Thx

      Not sure what you might have that could be causing a problem. Maybe the spring? You could watch the 1st repair that deals more with the talking mechanism and see how it's put together. th-cam.com/video/cGd2KWZzkUc/w-d-xo.html

    I know you said you wasnt an expert but if you had to what kind of rivet gun and rivets would you buy for 3.75 inch figures?

    • @ToyTinkerTim
      @ToyTinkerTim  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure, the miniature rivets in the figures joints are very different than "pop rivet" guns. I've tried searches before, but haven't had a project yet that I went any further on that search. Try looking /searching for 'miniature rivet'. Someone else may have a more specific answer for your question. Thanks for stopping by!

      ToyotaGuy1971, thanks for your input. Where possible in future videos I'll try to do more of a before and after comparison for viewers to better understand results.
