  • Vlog 042 - Installing a Mishimoto radiator and fan in the e46 M3
    The first day I drove this BMW e46 m3 I noticed there were cooling issues-it had a tendency to overheat on really hot days or when it was driven hard. To fix this problem I opted to install a Mishimoto performance aluminum radiator and Mishimoto performance aluminum fan with an adjustable controller. I cover the installation here.
    Note: I followed these two installation videos to get this done!
    Radiator: • 2001-2006 BMW E46 M3 P...
    Fan: • 2001-2006 BMW E46 M3 P...
    Also, this is a good video about flushing the cooling system: • Easy and Fast E46 M3 C...

    Glad to see the 1k come up. This channel of yours so deserves to keep growing. Those old radiator hoses are a real highlight of the job, aren't they? I don't think I've ever used so many f bombs as when I was taking mine off then fitting the new ones. Nice job on the car once again. Why do people try to skimp on cooling systems on cars? If anything is going to kill the big beautiful engine it's going to be a good old fashioned boil up. Stay cool mate!

      Thanks dude! And I'm with you on the cooling system-it was one of the first things on my list. So important. And yeah those radiator hoses suuuuuuucked. Haha. But in the end it all worked out and it's doing a killer job so far. Thanks!

    How are you liking the mishimoto fan? Also, you should have replaced the water pump while you had the system drained, they are plastic and notorious for exploding. Keep an eye on it when tracking. I just replaced mine.

      Shane Kennedy I like it so far, I just need to wire a switch, as the probe sensor seems a little inconsistent. It’s on my list of things to do. And thanks for the info on the water pump - I’ll look into that!

      I’m planning on buying the fan with the switch. Is it pretty easy to wire? Thanks

    When or what about the water pump and thermostat. Wouldn’t hoses be something during this stage of upgrade?

    • @BlackFlagged
      @BlackFlagged  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Russell Taylor yes I should have replaced hoses during this but I just couldn’t afford them at the time

    Did you have any issues with the radiator sliding from the bottom half

    Lol I don’t think they expected anyone to try and replace a radiator before draining coolant. Anyways if you want a secondhand eventuri intake let me know. I’m about to upgrade to a Airbox pretty soon

    There is drain pipe on bottom of the radiator so you can drain it empty before pulling off hoses. 👍 video.

      not sure if there is on and M3 radiator, seen more than one video where the people said to pull the temp sensor in the bottom hose at the radiator to drain it.

    • @BlackFlagged
      @BlackFlagged  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also good to know. Even with all the coolant that gushed out of the top hose, when I pulled that temp sensor so much more came out. Guess I should have started there.

      I hate bmw dealerships. If it was a honda or ford it would be a 40 dollar part.

    • @BlackFlagged
      @BlackFlagged  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i think i could have gotten it for sixty-something dollars online but would have had to do overnight shipping, and by then it would have been the same price. I'm just glad the dealership had the part.
