- Phil Mickelson. On the range. Warming up. Talking golf. Uncut. Dig in!
The 6-time major champ joins GOLF’s Dylan Dethier and takes us through his process. He says there’s something all s-- ballstrikers do at address. He says his warmup routine has changed dramatically over the years. He says he hits four different driver shots - but he only likes three of ’em. He says he has a memory bank of great shots he’s hit that he can tap into. Over the course of a half-hour on the range, it turns out Phil Mickelson has a lot to say. We hope you enjoy the watch.

I could listen to hours of Phil verbalizing his thought processes when approaching the game of golf. If I could get the opportunity to casually play a round of golf with any player, it would be Phil.
lol. So could Phil. He loves hearing himself talk
I did and it was fun. He does like to talk. Played Del Mar CC on corporate outing .
PHD in golf. I could listen to him for hours
Great segment, love him or hate him, you can always learn something when you listen to Phil talk golf.
No idea why you would hate someone like him? He has never done anything. HATE is like some easy to use buzz word. Hate is not some simple thing as not liking a golfer.
@@arjanpetersen Didn’t say I hated him, learn to read with comprehension or stop jumping to conclusions with no basis in fact.
dude left the PGA tour to go play for a bar league
@@horsecockexpress7612 In your job at horsecockexpress, if someone from horsenutsexpress offered you 10x's what you were making at thecock, you'd leave too. Get out your feels bruh.
@@horsecockexpress7612 good example
As a lefty I love when Phil does these it’s so much easier to replicate seeing it from the same side
Dude being lefty is so awesome! Its why we made our channel lol
Lefties look so awkward but Phil is just so smooth....I'm a lefty and think other lefties look whack lol. Love watching him play.
@@steaneblanch9802 lefties >>
its so rare nowdays to have a tour player who can give great advice and a lefty. Cheris Phil for that haha
I actually like it as a righty because it's like a mirror and you can replicate it that way
In a long time from now, folks will appreciate his genius.
listen to his interview with feherty, it is like sitting in an upper level physics class
he probably is genius level iq
Phil has always been an amazing communicator.
“All shitty ballstrikers…”
Phil bringing it from the jump!
Hogan must have been a shitty ball striker 😂
I don’t know why but Phil’s transition from pga to LIV reminds me of when hulk hogan transitioned to Hollywood hogan 😂
This is right here! He just needs the NWO spray painted title belt!
NWO MICKELSON
Absolute legend of the game! Lefty is killing it at 53!
HES A DOUCHE WHO HAD RUINED HIS LEGACY.
Phil will outlive Eldrick on the course
This guy is a masterclass player
One of the greatest to ever play the game. It is a fact. Like it or not. Phil is a golf icon.
100%
All time great. Cool to see him at this stage of his career still progressing and doing what he needs to to keep his body ready for competition.
"We didn't see that coming..." To say that to a Master's winner is crazy lol, dude is obviously talented and very capable of winning at any age.
Yeah, that hit me as pretty rude. These top guys go out there every time thinking they are winning. To tell him no one thought he would get close?
@@mikecoughlin4128 Nah it wasn't rude, Phil was playing horrible going into Augusta last year, hence the 300/1 odds lol.
@@SiLoMixMaster rude doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It’s a matter of manners not facts. The guy is doing you a favor. Even if he’s compensated in some way, be polite and ask the question in a different way.
I'm a lefty too and love watching Phil and his thought process. This was awesome!
Phil low key flexing on us with those splits
Facts 🤣🫡
Yeah. That deep squat wasn’t too shabby either.
💯
I'm the same age as Phil, and he's always been my favortie golfer. I've followed him since he won as an amateur. Trust me, those splits, at our age, isn't as easy as he makes it look.
TALK LIKE A MAN FFS
Great vid! Love these raw talks with players and their thought processes.
more of this!.... before YT, this type of casual conversations was very difficult to find. enjoyed this, go Phil! .....GO LIV! Best of Luck this year!
A genius at work, there cannot be many who can describe how to hit a golf ball better.
Phil and Bryson are two of my favorite pros to watch, and maybe more importantly, listen to their brilliant instruction. Great vid!
Let’s not put them in the same breath
Wow the best practice video I've ever seen explains everything so well thanks for the video would love to see more of him in this format
Always learn from Lefty's vids 👏 👏 👏 Thanks for sharing!
. This is useful for warming up your muscles in any sport you play. It shows how much work it takes to develop and maintain in golf or other sports you play. I tend to forget about the amount of training it takes to be excellent and just think “oh Phil’s just gifted”. I watched another video of how he trains to keep up his driving distance. Thanks for posting this.
Lefty’s Lessons..as a fellow lefty,I love watching,& listening to Phil explain different swings,etc..School
Me Phil,I’m taking notes..👍 💯💲⛳️
Impressive that Phil can talk continuously while working without gasping...speaks to some cardio work and lots of interviews.
Wow that was so helpful. I never played and know nothing about Golf. But I feel I am good at hand eye athleticism all my life.
Very nice of him to talk with you.
Thanks again
one of golf's great gentleman!
Fascinating stuff! His recall on shots is crazy. Great work Dylan!
Can’t wait to see Phil play after watching this video. Could watch and listen to him for hours!
Let’s go Phil! So much learn from this genius. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience and time with us. 😊
What a great session with a great golf legend.
Great Video....one of the best i have seen on you tube.....grazie
Man is apologizing for giving all this gold 😂. I don’t know a physiologist anywhere that would disagree that even younger golfers should practice the same disciplines to get the body activated for play. I’m sure someone calls that LONGEVITY 😂😂. Love it
Thanks for jumping straight into some band work Phil. This is really insightful and a helpful influence for us all who struggle to warm up properly and suffer with stiffness
Always love listening to Phil talk golf. Absolutely fascinating guy.
Love it! Can't wait to see Phil in April.
He's an absolute genius.. hats off to a golfer of our times
HE AINT EVEN IN THE TOP 10.
Thank you so so so much for this wonderful opportunity to see Phil the thrill। thank you so much. I’ve learnt so much. May god be with you always ❤️
I saw that steeple and knew immediately where you were. What a beautiful course.
Phil has a great golf mind and remarkable imagination. This video shows why he and pros are so much better than ams. Most ams dont know how to practice and it shows on the course and scores. Obviously God given skills are in play but if you learn your swing tendencies and understand them, then you can capitalize on them and learn how to play your best and most consistent golf. Great interview!
The amount of knowledge he shared here was so nice to hear. I would like a 1h50 of him on a course.
This was fascinating, priceless insight.
I don’t care what anyone says about Phils business decisions or gambling habits. He is quite possibly the best educator in all of sports. So few guys at his level (any sport) are able to educate because it just comes so naturally to them. Phil can really put it into words and you don’t catch any ulterior motives when he’s doing it.
ALL of this stuff is gold
Yeah I love Phil’s mind and what he says translates for everyone. You listen to Tiger or Bryson or even Bubba and you walk away with more questions. With Phil, everything is palatable. What a session.
Hi, fantastic video. Could you tell me what golf tees Phil was using please? Thanks Joe
Everything Phil says here is the way. Don't be embarrassed to stretch. It literally helps everything and you'll feel amazing.
No matter how you see Phil he has been a huge part of the game period ..... mucho respect to him ~
As a lefty Phil is my guy. Although when I first started playing his flop shots really wrecked my short game. I tried it anytime near the greens 😂. Nice to see more lefties on the tours now!
Phil will alway be in my Top 5! #hittingbombs
Phil is the best content ever if he ever does a podcast or channel you bet I would subscribe!
Great stuff: Legend of the game!
This is fantastic because of the simplicity.
29:15 Seems like such a weird ending lol
Great player - up there with the best ever
Explain the Pells as it relates to 75% back swing.
Outstanding video!
Great vid Dylan! I was captivated listening to Phil... and yes, he can talk lol
Ive watched his chipping videos hundred of time....I credit him and my uncle for my better chipping. I have a plan and can visualize the "the play". I'm now upset when I dont get it inside 6 feet
Man, I really want to see a Phil Mickelson clinic.
Interesting he said Callaway made him a replica of the old PING Eye-2 sand-wedge. I thought that club he put down against the bag looked familiar. That's cool...
I'd love to play a round with Phil. Absolute Legend!
He's always going to be in my fantasy foursome. Just the smack talk alone would be worth it.
GREAT content here. 👌🏻
Awww I could feel the sadness when he started talking about the Callaway grooves being really good. Having a partnership come to an end with a company that you played as a kid can’t be easy. That was a dream come true that he unfairly lost.
Phil is really good at explaining really hyper-specific and minute details in a golf swing
Can't wait to see Phil play in Mexico! February 2nd at Mayakoba! Let's go!!!
This was awesome
Fascinating to watch and listen to him. Never thought I would see Phil wearing Nike golf shoes!
Anybody know the brand of stretch bands he has? He's looking great!
Phill spittin game. I really enjoy his willingness to teach.
Phil is a true master golfer
Listen to every word from this Master ball striker! He has skills that even Tiger envies!
This is what I thought Bubba Watson would be like.
It’s cool to hear him talk about a hole on a major while on the range like we all do, but he’s one of the best in the world.
I need this man to start a podcast or youtube where he just talks and explains what he feels
Awesome
He is most important person in golf this century, I respect him even he is getting older but still can play with young guys today.
Phil needs his own show on the golf channel. Weekly analysis, viewers could send in swings for him to breakdown. Tips, tricks and swing thoughts.
Really enjoyed this. Phil is great at explaining his process and mindset. Gotta love it. Can always learn something
Does anyone know what exercise band Leftie is using during his warmup?
_"The grooves at Callaway are really good."_ -P
Just sold some wedges right there. 😃
Their ability to hit any shape of shot on command never ceases to amaze me
Phil: “You won’t find a good ball striker that doesn’t set up with a straight arm and club”
Fred Couples: “Hold my beer.”
I learned I should be doing something I love as much as he loves golf.
His swing is so smooth. It is amazing he is right handed but plays with left hand clubs.
It’s pretty common most left handed golfers are right handed.
Phil one of the best ever, especially because he is great at explaining what he does and how he comes across as a normal person lol
I was pretty much done with Phil after the whole media rights PGA stuff, then of course LIV....but this video reminded me how great Phil is at explaining his system and how it can makes sense.
Great lesson Phil , thank you for your passion for the game . Have a great year !
I dont understand how you can’t love Phil. He’s so knowledgeable.
Absolute gold
Damn, that was a deep split. I'm 29 and couldn't do that.
In his prime, he had the best short game in the history of golf, and he’s still better than most today!
Because of Phil, I’m brave enough to hit a high flop shot around the greens with my Calloway 60 deg.😂
What Jordan 1 lows is Phil wearing?! I want those!
Miss Phil on the PGA tour…. Looking forward to Augusta…
Still the greatest! His LIV content with Bryson was great!😅
THE GREATEST WHAT? HE IS A NOB.
Smart guy Phil, wishing that the tours come to senses in the name of golf. Phil is in better physical shape now than ever before.
Great fit from the legend
Great session. Love seeing how the Pros think
21:40 my favorite part
Ditto !
Great work Dylan. Just let Phil cook and we’ll all just sit there with our popcorn and listen 😂😂
I love him!
I want to know how he got the weight off and keeps it off at 53. He's in WAY better shape now than he was 20 years ago.
What I would ALSO like to know from these pros who are my age like Phil is how they warmed up for distances prior to all these "shot monitors" and such. As I remember it while watching him on the range in like 1995, we just went out and blasted irons until we felt warmed up. There was likely a science for them back then too. The VAST majority of golfers don't have access to the tech.
Testosterone pills
@@mikesmargie3952 Nah nonsense. I take injections. Doesn't do anything like this for me.
I would assume low carb/keto, IF.
It worked for me.
OH oh ozempic
is it possible that the watch, big watch, changes the swingweight ? or the tempo.. and on the left, so too much fade ?
