What you're seeing is a great game plan from the Russells. Boots is slick and the only way to defeat him then and now is to be in his chest and not give him any room to maneuver. This is the kind of strategy that works against a slick fighter. The only problem with doing this in the Pros, is that you have to be able to keep it up for 6,10, or 12 rounds.

Boots is a lot stronger and denser now, and hits like a mule. I don’t think there’s many people that would make it to his chest, before they make it to the canvas💤

Don't know about timing and precision because lots of volume and many missed.... but don't be impressed with an amateur fight so much. It's only 3 rounds so they can go all out and get hit more as they are still young fresh and not got that grown man power yet... plus punches in bunches gets less power
In the pros it will be totally different, russell keeping it up all 12 will be tough

Majority of the comments here are talking about how good of a competition this was and what these 2 will be able to do with their careers going forward. Even there's comments commending the ref for allowing them to "fight" out of the clinch rather than separating them like we often see in amateur bouts.
I think you focus too much on the opinions of people YOU label as haters or casuals because they aren't praising Ennis at the level you want them to. Fact is, neither of these fighters have won anything yet. Both are very talented but haven't done shit yet. Until then people can only give "hype" about what they think can happen with them. Including Ennis.
Ennis has yet to face a ranked opponent in his division but people claim he's the best at 147. It's not hating to point out, he has fought no one. His best wins are vs a couple 140 lb champs trying to move up. One of them lost to Crawford 6 years ago and has lost 5 of his 8 bouts since......

What I notice about boots then and now is, he has problems with fighters with a fast solid stick. If you have a fast jab with good footwork, you can neutralize him and beat just by setting every attack up with some jabs. He only can throw them fast hands like that closer on the inside. If you notice he isn’t throwing any straight punch combinations with speed on the outside like that. Not like he throwing them on the inside.
