Concordia Choirs Singing Festival held at the Concordia club. The Surprise act , was Rowan Classen and Tamara Carlin Performing the famous Austrian Landler .
so beautiful !!!!!!.from 1 minute 14 it is very lovely .......great to see andhear ... I wish you would put up a video teaching people how to do this particular laendler as it is exceptional !!!!!!!!!
Except that of course this particular Landler was composed by the wonderful American composer Richard Rodgers for The Sound of Music. Schubert wrote several lovely landlers, and many other traditional Austrian ones may be found by searching Austrian Landler on TH-cam.
Almost as if this Ländler was performed by English speaking people for English speaking people. The incorrect spelling and the way she wears a Dirndl are very telling. Not the real deal.
there are quite a few rules for wearing a dirndl (traditional dress) which are not all important. however, one that cannot be disregarded is that the apron must NEVER be longer than the dress. if you'd show up like this to a traditional festivity everyone would stare at you. it's a total fashion faux pas. and shortening it isn't that hard - safety pins might do the trick. (take it from an austrian girl)
Snuggles McSquishbottom Maybe. :D A great many countries have "aprons" in their traditional clothing. This is perfectly logical, after all, aprons were worn on a daily basis to shield clothing from dirt, but also to wipe dirty hands on it during work. This way they became part of traditional dresses. =)
Encore! Not only Waltz's derived from Landler, but also Disco. There're some disco elements in the moves. Landler can be perfect Disco with heavy rhythm and much faster tempo.
Enjoyable to watch, but there is no "the Austrian landler", there are many of them, all regional. The one we see here was used in the Sound of Music, but it isn't a traditional landler. It was made up of elements FROM traditional landlers for the film.
Beautifully presented, love dancers in their traditional costumes.
My parents were both Austrians and I know the dances in Austria 🇦🇹 and I am an Austrian Canadian woman and I am proud of the Austrians ❤
Simply lovely.
Aaaah beautiful!!
Brings tears to my eyes.
This has great charm and they are obvisily enjoying themselves !

With adapted choreography by Marc Bereaux and DeeDee Wood for the film
The one from Sound of Music is just very popular and most are familiar with it.

Ooh can you tell me more? I like learning fun and random facts, and rules about traditional austrian dresses sounds super fun and random
I’d like your opinion of the female dancer’s performance.
Performance starts at 1:13
Hervorragend
Schön!!!!!
Google-Translated for the English-speakers in the audience so that they may like your comment:

Hello ! I'm impressed ! Can you tell me if it's one of your choreographies ?

Gunnar Thorsen It is the traditional dance
what's the theme song called ?
Theme song?
Found this via google, thanks google
Thus is dancing at it finest. Unlike what the kids today dance to.
Looking at other videos the skirts are below the knees
Beautiful dance, but why is her apron so long> It obviously is meant to go with the dress, but usually the aprons aren't longer than the dress.
Too bad the clapping at 2:26 is so rushed. The rest of the dance had a flow that was lost in that section of the performance.
B
Too much faffing!!!!
Their accents are confused. It's supposed to be Austrian not Australian 😂
I think it’s in Australia too
Una danza muy bella, pero unos danzarines con poca gracia.
A for effort. They don't really seemed well suited. Could have used more practice sessions.
