    When i was a little kid my parents used to take my brothers and i there, on the Saturday before the week of rodeo day. We lived behind "A" mountain in a mobile home; we'd watch the actors do out law shoot outs, talk with some of the actors, and i got to meet Geronimos grandson! I was 5 years old then. They used the old Tucson town studio to shoot little house on the prairie, a bunch of John Wayne movies, and about 4 Clint Eastwood movies. Some Clint Eastwood movies were partially shot at the San Xavier mission, tombstone, in some parts of southwest New Mexico, and California. John Wayne had a fondness for Tucson, tombstone, and nogales; in alot of his movies they even show "A" mountain before the UofA started painting the A on it. I miss the old west; today the reenactments are a traditional way to remember the life style that America was founded upon. I'm 49 today: back then people didn't protest every frikkin thing that they didn't like. There were times when people got along and peacefully lived amongst each other. THOSE WERE PLEASANT TIMES! Seeing those old buildings bring back memories! 😌

    • @ArizonaGhostriders
      @ArizonaGhostriders  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very cool background you have there! Yes, times were different then, eh?

    • @bitchy_bitch5909
      @bitchy_bitch5909 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArizonaGhostriders YES, IT WAS INDEED! There are times i catch myself shedding a tear or two while remembering "the old southwest experience". Today people look at each other with such pessimism, and negative criticism- I've thought of testing how people would react: if i was to dress up in a red flannel shirt or something, blue jeans or overalls, boots, cowboy hat, some cap guns and their holsters rom the walmart toy department, and go around town with a sprig of real straw sticking out of my mouth. I wonder how people of today would react. I figure that before 5 days are up the police will have questioned me, perhaps try to take me to a psych ward just to get people to stop worrying. Nowadays; people with rainbow colored hair is normal. That's only an idea that i retain in my head! 😂

    I was lucky enough to have gotten to go to Old Tucson in the 1950’s during the heyday of movie westerns. I got to see Randolph Scott filming scenes. I wanted to go back when John Wayne was filming but that never happened. I was lucky to get to meet Audie Murphy. One of my favorite stars growing up was Bill Boyd, but buy the late 50’s he was pretty much through with his career, and he mainly filmed in California.

I guess it's real for those of us that loved westerns as a kid and even as an adult. I find myself looking always looking for familiar buildings from Old Tucson in movies. It's a great place to visit. My wife does not share my passion, but she says she still loves me. If not, then I guess I'll find one of tose young saloon girls and make a fool of myself. One thing that really struck me odd was, the buildings were much smaller than I thought. like The Bird Cage Theater. Of course part of it was partioned off but, even the very narrow stairs going up to the rooms. They looked no wider than maybe 24".

    Kind of reminds me of Brackettville Texas, of what the old John Wayne Alamo Village should have been

    Nice beard and video! Also I’m watching this from Moscow Idaho the land of Vandals (football and basketball team) and I’m a Boise St fan. We’re also next to the home of cougars (Boise State’s arch rival).

    Wow 😲 this was really neat!!! At 1:42 I saw “The Duke” in that one overhead scene. I wonder if that was from either “Rio Lobo” or “Rio Bravo”............Yup, “Rio Bravo”, 1959, just looked it up. You could tell it was him by the way he wore his gun belt. Low with the holster just about on the side of his left butt cheek. Oh, and the way he always wore his hat at a jaunty angle.
    That must be Dean Martin lying on the bench.
    This was a really good one,! Thx Santee!

    Hey Santee, any chance you could do a video on set building/dressing or possibly a more indepth follow up of your previous episode on hats in the old west??? Either one would be awesome, love the video by the way.

    Hey Santee. It seems like a lot of the good questions have been asked. What are your plans for the future of this channel? And do you have a stockpile of good questions you've yet to talk about?

    • @ArizonaGhostriders
      @ArizonaGhostriders  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a lot of questions to answer! I also have ideas for series (like this one on western sets) profiling historic western characters.
      Next week we have a new "Dressing the Part".
      Waiting for the Travel or History Channel to knock on my door and get me a film crew! :-)
