    Hi, I'm actually making your recipe now and for the dough I believe your measurements are off hummm . my Dough was very wet. I added a 1/2 cup more of each that you said to add to my dough, but it was still a little sticky to work with so I added while kneeding maybe a 1/4 more of unbleached flour. I'm hoping it turns out lol. Its my first time.

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's odd, your dough shouldn't be too wet with the right ratio of flour to milk. It could be the brand of flour you're using. Different brands have different protein percentage. Higher protein flour will differ in soaking up moisture. I used King Arthur all purpose flour and Softasilk cake flour if you were curious.

    • @maxalynn1538
      @maxalynn1538 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK well could you tell me what brand you used then. Well anyways I wanted to say thank you for your recipe they were delicious. Though they definitely didnt look the prettiest lol. My daughter loved them. She's 19 months today . she's my little rice baby lol. Its her favorite and she's part asian :D.
      Well when I I went to kneed the dough I also dabbed the dough with whole milk and then brushed it with whole milk before steaming the 30mins. Like I said it was my first time. But yes I'd love to retry again in the future when I have another craving, and i have the correct flour ratio but for now I have plenty to last lol.

    Would regular baking powder work? And can I take out the oil?

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, and you can try w/out the oil and see how it turns out.

  • @emilymoua5307

    If we dont have double acting baking powder would it still work ?

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will not work. Your dough will not rise and be fluffy.

    I don't know why yours doesn't look sticky. I use your same exact recipe but it comes out very sticky so I end up adding more all purpose flour. Am I doing something wrong?

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Might depend on the flour you use. I used King Arthur all purpose flour and softasilk cake flour. Certain flour have higher percentage of protein so they soak up more moisture and some soak up less. Hope that helps.

    Can we use bleached all purpose flour?

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can. I usually don't like to use too much bleached flour into my dough recipes, but bleached ap flour will do just fine too.

    Hi, I attempted to make your kalapao...however my mixture was too wet and sticky. It never formed into a ball like yours. I thought I may have messed up on the measurements so threw the first mixture away. I had my boyfriend do the second mixture and his was too wet and sticky too. I’m not sure but maybe 1 1/3 cup of milk is too much? Could you help me out? Do you ever have this problem? Thanks in advance!!

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. I'm not sure what happened but I've done this recipe a few times and it has never been wet or sticky. Did you use a mixer to mix the dough or did you hand mix it? How did you measure the flours?

    • @Janyaj25
      @Janyaj25 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a mixer. I measured 2 cups of flour and 2 cups of cake flour. Followed your recipe to a T. I’m puzzled why my dough isn’t turning out. Lol

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is really weird. I've had a lot of people tried out the recipe and it have worked out for them. Do you live in an area with high humidity? It could also be the brand of flour you used too. I really want to help solve the problem but it's really weird how it's not coming out even when you followed it to the T.

    • @Janyaj25
      @Janyaj25 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live in Wisconsin and I used the unbleached flour Kroger brand and used the soft silk cake flour. Will have to attempt making it again..fingers crossed!

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm.. Everything should have came out fine then. That's really odd. Fingers crossed for your next attempt. Let me know if it works out. If it comes out too wet again, just add a little more cake flour so you don't have to waste the ingredients and see if it steams out okay.

    i love your recipe, but there's only one thing wrong with your bun, it's missing an egg..
    i love steam pork bun especially the egg.
    my fillings would be sweet sausages, pork, prawns, shitake mushrooms, and wood eared mushrooms.
