Seeing this play out in the Sonic 2 movie in a way made me happy. And in the end credits the animation they used for this point referenced the original scrapped (now fully realized as of Mania) Sonic 2 version of Hidden Palace Zone

A little sad that this scene wasn't in the movie including the theme that plays when the master emerald is stolen. But well, it's still like in S3&K. Knuckles sees Eggman grabbing the master emerald and tries to stop him. The movie had some refrences to the classic games.

When I saw this game played out in sonic 2 movie it literally blew my mind its one of the best games ever!!
