The problem with Monero is that imagine you pay for a car with it and you don't get it. There is no refund, law, alternative to get your Monero back. It's definitely better than Bitcoin, but spending too much money with Monero I think you have to accept you might lose it.
Just buy in person, which is right anyway, super easy to get scammed with money too.

Escrow systems may be a solution here, where the monero is held for a grace period before sent to the merchant...the darknet markets have already solved this issue with great success

Monero is actually useful. I use it to pay for my VPN, for example. I haven't really used it for much more tbh, but i really appreciate the privacy benefits

Can you make a video about the different Monero payment processors? I have used websites where XMR payment is process/confirmed very quickly (like the one used in MULLVAD VPN), and others where it takes hours to process and it kinda discourages me from going the Monero route if I cant guarantee a responsive customers service in case there are issues with the payment

Pretty much, the system relies on trust and the amounts you can spend realistically are going to be restricted to the amounts you can afford losing.
(the "system" does not rely on trust...)
the responsvie service as you call it is entirely up the developer that sets up your payment system
notification of payment in the queue is pretty much instant;
so once you get that notif, you can notify your user that tx is indeed on the way and that order will be processed after X conf on the network. how long it takes depends on the fees the user chose to send his monero
then you chose how many conf (the X above) before letting your system process the order.
you don't want to chose to process at the notif in case the user has for example put a fee too low & the tx get lost in the queue, 1 conf is standard i believe -
or you add a cron job to check payments if you process at the notif, so to cancel order if no conf for four hours for example.

When maxis said that large banks would eventually switch to using Bitcoin as a backend store of value, they didn't mean it would literally replace all money in banks. Banks hold multiple different types of assets, including different currencies and gold. Bitcoin works very well as another form of reserve currency for banks because it's inherently deflationary and much safer (and less expensive) to transfer large amounts than gold, the current standard for this. Large banks use bitcoin for even 1% of their reserve assets it would multiply the market cap by quite a bit, given that 1% global bank reserves is in the low trillions.
Deflationary doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not volatile, or that it’s price will indefinitely rise.

Surprised there are no game cheat providers on that list. Crypto is the most common currency in these communities, especially on the back end. When I used to sell, I just had a bunch of resellers in different parts of the world who accepted all kinds of payments and just paid me back in crypto for the license keys sold. I also accepted crypto directly at a slight discount.

Yeah that's the thing. I like that you can buy gift cards with Monero. At least that expands your ability to buy goods. But the reason cash is still so useful is because you can pay for rent, your bills, etc. with it.

In germany cash is basically useless, cant pay rent with it. You need a bank account even for electricity and gym bill. Cash is just used to buy things such as groceries, everything else runs through wiring money. (Transfer/Lastschrift etc.)

I understand less about cryptocurrencies than I would like, but with monero it seems to be very easy to evade taxes, I think income tax is theft, but like it or not, if businesses start accepting monero and not pay taxes, the government will declare war.
Exactly. It is naive to think governments would be big fans of this lol. However the common people have just as much right to earths worth as much as the governments that depend on them do. Its a complicated issue.

If monero finds a way to scale horizontally (infinite block size means infinite scaling but only if all nodes can keep up... which they can't), say by sharding or parallel processing and keep fees very low, then we will really have something powerful. We got lots of time before scaling becomes a problem but I hope people are working on that, and also so way to keep the blockchain from growing infinitely... such as making a pruned node only need to store X number of blocks that last say 50 years... 50 years is long enough that we should not have an issue with lost outputs.

Blackrock applied for a Bitcoin Spot ETF. I love XMR and always opt to use it for transactions when possible. The mainstream media is now pushing the narrative of Bitcoin mining being eco friendly which is good goy ESG upcummies. I'm not a Bitcoin maxi but if the planet's largest asset manager is about to roll out a Bitcoin Spot ETF for boomer investors and investing firms, you can bet the price will absolutely moon.
@@tripplefives1402 A Bitcoin "Spot" ETF means that Blackrock or any other firm using a Spot ETF is required to have custody of the Bitcoin. Like I said, if Earth's largest asset manager is rolling out the spot ETF, it will pump to hundreds of thousands of dollars. So if they roll out a spot ETF which means they have to have physical custody, it will moon because it IS determined by supply and demand due to it being a Spot ETF not a Futures ETF.

@tripplefives You are confusing a CEF with an ETF. The value of an ETF is 100% correlated to the underlying when tracked on a monthly or longer time frame. If Gold increases 5%, BGLD increases 5%. When you buy shares in an ETF, you are not buying them from another investor, those shares are being created by the fund manager. Conversely if you sell, you are not selling to another investor, the fund manager destroys those shares.
Two caveats, on short time frames they can diverge because the ETF is not literally the underlying. The fund manager has to buy or sell the underlying as shares in the ETF are bought or sold, which doesn't happen instantly. Second, ETFs have a long term premium as management fees are deducted, usually

PoS would kill Monero, and i think Monero's PoW is the best PoW implentation for the environment, as it blocks ASICs and FPGAs and encourage average people to mine it, not large farms like Bitcoin and Ethereum before PoS.

Big problem with this whole business is that sure you can mine monero and you can get it by selling something for monero, but you cant get paid in monero and a conpany that is accepting payment in monero isnt giving their employees a bonus in monero. The businesses accepting it are either keeping it or exchanging it to fiat to pay their employees. In order to truly get the curcular economy going you need nore than just the linear buy and sell dynamic you also need the labor and compensation dynamic as well. Right now the only way to really labor for monero is to work and get paid in dollars and then to either spend money on electricity to make monero or to spend money on just buying monero. You cant really call it an economy if people arent working for monero.
So go find a way to be the change you want. I accept XMR for food. Quit bitching and start building.

I'm an almond farmer and a medium size landlord in the Fresno CA area. I have BTC but not XMR. I don't know how to hold or receive XMR but I'd like to take it for rent or to buy my almonds. I would even trade cash for it. I would also take gold or silver for payment.
