I have used websites where XMR payment is process/confirmed very quickly (like the one used in MULLVAD VPN), and others where it takes hours to process and it kinda discourages me from going the Monero route if I cant guarantee a responsive customers service in case there are issues with the payment
(the "system" does not rely on trust...) the responsvie service as you call it is entirely up the developer that sets up your payment system notification of payment in the queue is pretty much instant; so once you get that notif, you can notify your user that tx is indeed on the way and that order will be processed after X conf on the network. how long it takes depends on the fees the user chose to send his monero then you chose how many conf (the X above) before letting your system process the order. you don't want to chose to process at the notif in case the user has for example put a fee too low & the tx get lost in the queue, 1 conf is standard i believe - or you add a cron job to check payments if you process at the notif, so to cancel order if no conf for four hours for example.

If monero finds a way to scale horizontally (infinite block size means infinite scaling but only if all nodes can keep up... which they can't), say by sharding or parallel processing and keep fees very low, then we will really have something powerful. We got lots of time before scaling becomes a problem but I hope people are working on that, and also so way to keep the blockchain from growing infinitely... such as making a pruned node only need to store X number of blocks that last say 50 years... 50 years is long enough that we should not have an issue with lost outputs.

Like I said, if Earth's largest asset manager is rolling out the spot ETF, it will pump to hundreds of thousands of dollars. So if they roll out a spot ETF which means they have to have physical custody, it will moon because it IS determined by supply and demand due to it being a Spot ETF not a Futures ETF.

@tripplefives You are confusing a CEF with an ETF. The value of an ETF is 100% correlated to the underlying when tracked on a monthly or longer time frame. If Gold increases 5%, BGLD increases 5%. When you buy shares in an ETF, you are not buying them from another investor, those shares are being created by the fund manager. Conversely if you sell, you are not selling to another investor, the fund manager destroys those shares.
Two caveats, on short time frames they can diverge because the ETF is not literally the underlying. The fund manager has to buy or sell the underlying as shares in the ETF are bought or sold, which doesn't happen instantly. PoS would kill Monero, and i think Monero's PoW is the best PoW implentation for the environment, as it blocks ASICs and FPGAs and encourage average people to mine it, not large farms like Bitcoin and Ethereum before PoS.

Mordinals? Fizzled out. A soft fork "config change" was done where tx_extra was limited to 1060 some odd bytes. As the mining pool nodes as well as p2pool agreed, it limits getting something large on as one would have to solo mine.

Monero has all the problems that current money has. The issue isn't what form the currency takes. The issue is the system of control. Otherwise the whole conversation is just with people looking out for Max personal profit. Profit seeking is the issue as it just is a tool to extract value from those without wealth. Which is intrinsically benefits those who already have it. We can do better.
