Hua Hua is always surprising me. What an enigma. When you first reacted to him, I didn’t think you were so sure about him. Correct me if I perceived that in error. Glad you came around. I simply love this guy! Very versatile young man. IMO his lyrics are soul reaching and deeper than most. Best to you for your upcoming surgery.

I call Hua Hua my box of surprises. He is so talented. I discovered The Singer via Dimash (I'm a Dear) but as I liked so much this show and it's quality, since than I watch The Singer and how many good and amazing singers I discovered.
I've already watched 2020 ep 1 and really enjoyed it all. As for Hua he was amazing. Take care with yourself and my positive thoughts are with you 💞💞
I am really impressed you watched the whole episode. It was a good episode, lots of talent.
But not trying to be to biased, since Hua Hua is my all time favorite artist, but he did deserve the nr1 spot in that episode. It was a great performance and good song choice.
Unlike the other artists he didn't have much time for preperations, since he got called in to do the show the same day. Even wearing the outfit he travelled in.
I wish he didn't have to be in the show, there is so much pressure on him, but it is of course Nice for us to have this to look forward to.
He took the challange, and be delivered nothing less than perfect, like allways.

Good luck with the surgery, I'll look forward to your postings! You should watch some of Hua Hua's concerts, they're great. A real show! The first one I saw was either from 2017 or 18 I can't remember but he did a song where he interpreted Cancer, and yes it was as painful to hear as to see but amazing, he's the best.

Great!!! That song released on 28 August 2018....and is was theme song for the series “Battle Through the Heavens”, ( or other name ''Fights Break Sphere''). So the lyrics are related with that series,,,,

I watched the entire show too, Hua Chenyu got the first place, i like him a lot, but i prefered others this day! The Lion Guy(the guy before Hua), the first guy was incredible too, and Misia the same, great!
I agree ! I love Hua Hua so much, but I'm a fan of Zhou Shen too (the 1rst guy), and you're right, Jam Hsiao (singer of Lion and Dimash's chinese big brother) was so good ! After this episode, it was the song of Jam stayed in my brain, lol

I love his ‘I really want to love this world’, ‘Qi Tian / the great sage equaling heaven’ and ‘I don’t care’ most. The melody was so catchy and the lyrics were meaningful! ‘Qitian’ was related to the story of Monkey King (Sun Wukong as his name) of a classical novel called Journey to the West.

On Singer, the performers often blend 2 or more songs...I suspect once the translation comes out, we will find that the poignant bit in the middle was a different song entirely. Great review! I have watched all of 2017 and 2018...I want to watch 2019 before I start in on this year! Totally agree with you about the importance of experiencing music from around the world! I was just able to finish watching the whole ep1. Hua did a great job in the first ep. I must confess I don’t like all of his songs but this song and his performance is nice. He has an unique style, so I appreciate him. However, being honest, I would vote for Jam Hsiao in the ep1. He gave an outstanding show too. Maybe you should react to his performance as well Olly. This season there are really remarkable singers in the show. Great to watch

I really enjoy this show...have never been disappointed with the amazing talent it features...several familiar faces again this season. I too am hoping for an English translation soon! Everyone sang their own song in the first episode and all singers are indeed talented, though I was most impressed by HuaHua, Zhou Shen, MSIAO and Jam Hsiao which happen to be the top 4

Actually there is an English translation of the song "Jackdaw Boy" on the Hua Chenyu English subs channel; see th-cam.com/video/9B1pP4oSyiE/w-d-xo.html. Hua Hua wrote this song in 2018, I think (please correct me if I am wrong), and it has been used as the theme song for a TV series. In the introduction, he is talking about how he wants to use the Singer as a platform for presenting music for the current generation, rather than classic songs that everybody knows, showing the audience the heart and the soul of the modern music. I heard that he was possibly pressured to appear on Singer this year, that the decision was not entirely of his own free preferences, but being the artist he is, he will do his best to make it worthwhile. Finally, all the best wishes for your upcoming successful surgery and speedy recovery.

I didn't understand what I was watching on the Singer 2020. I thought because he was one of the last 4 or 5 pictured in the ending, that it was the elimination. When he was named, I thought he was chosen as 'safe' and not to be eliminated... Reading the comments below, I was way off!.
