For me personally, the putty version emphasized more and pilled. I will say if you have mature and textured skin, the liquid version is better on skin like that. I have been using the liquid one for about a week now and it is beautiful. No pilling, and no budging. It smooths you out really well.
I agree 100%, I feel like the putty pills up and doesn’t have staying power. My makeup seems to not last as well or as long. And I also have to go into it multiple times to get what feels like enough. If 8 apply with the putty tool that elf makes, I have weird streaks of the putty on my face. It lays on the surface. I need to try this new version.
@@CookieEspresso I can't speak to that as I don't have that as of yet, but it does a really great job with smoothing out pores and texture. If you are looking for something that will fill in more, I would look at Tarte primers. They're pricier, but definitely do a great job.
I use the putty primer dual brush. I use the end of the brush to get some on and put it on my face and then wash it and then use the brush part to dab it into my skin. I have combo skin so my T-Zone gets oily quickly but ever since I’ve used the original putty primer with that brush, it’s been SUCH a game changer for me! I think it’s better than putting our fingers into the pot 😂
Normally I see very little difference between both side but on this one I actually can see a difference. The liquid side looks smoother, brighter and overall just prettier. I have every putty product and I love them so I am definitely picking up this primer. I actually excited to pick it up and use it after watching so many reviews.
Every review I’ve seen comparing the new liquid primer to the old putty primer, the liquid side looks so much smoother! The finish with that primer always looks so good! I can’t wait to try it
I think the liquid side is brighter and has more coverage too and even though I have the cream already I am going to get the liquid one for sure . Thank you so much Allie, I love the brush you used and we love you too.❤💗❤
Thanks Allie! Always appreciate your opinion and comparisons on comparable products within the same line. Looking forward to giving the liquid version a try!
I had the silk canvas from tatcha, and I love it, but with time using it, it flakes on my face, so I try recently the elf, and I'm in love, my makeup stay all day! I use for foundation loreal infallible pro matte and nyx beare with me concealer and is the perfect combo for my skin. It always looks flawless and usually my sking eats the makeup in an hour, I don't have nothing in my face, and it is weird, but with the elf primer is stay beautiful and I don't get too oily or dry.
I've always been curious about the Tatcha Silk Canvas Putty Primer and have wanted to try it for a while now. Would you say it's pretty similar to the Elf putty Primer? Also, have you tried the liquid version of Tatcha's Silk Canvas Primer?
To me, the liquid one seemed to have more spreadability (spreadable-ness? lol) and allowed you to cover more area with less product. I find that when using the putty pot, I never feel like I’m getting enough product because it’s more difficult to move around the face. So, I end up dipping in several times, and then of course it starts looking a little too thick/cakey. I think the liquid one may be more user friendly and in the long run will save money since you’ll be using less product each time. Definitely a win in my book!
Gosh Im so glad I came upon this one! I usually dont miss one but I Just got the liquid pore from ELF we got it much later here In Canada I love the pore primer and as soon as I saw this was available I jumped on it, I have yet to use it yet but after watch this I will be sure to give it a try on my 60 yr old skin that has wrinkles but most of all pores! I feel like almost all of my face has large pore and I despise them, acne back in the day when there really wasnt anything to offer us. 1980's early I cant say it was BAD acne but it was enough and of course I picked so hence I now suffer the con sequences. Anyways long store short! lol Thank you for all you have taught me and shared and your advice tips and tricks its been a pleasure ! CHeers

Of all the foundations out there, I wish the Nars Reflecting foundation had a real dupe. I have gone through two whole bottles. It is my number one foundation, but it is 50 bucks! I cannot afford to go through one of those bottles every two months. It just isn't sustainable.... If you could give me any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it!
I heard from a pro celebrity makeup artist that the L’Oréal serum nude foundation is similar to this and the Armani luminous silk! I’ve been thinking about buying it !
I love Revlon skin caring foundation more than the nars. I also love how I can mix it with any foundation and it makes any foundation look so much better on my skin.I tried almost every foundation and right now mixing small dot of juvias place natural Radiance Foundation with revlon gives me a magical foundation if I want a full coverage.
This looks like one I might try. I have a love hate relationship with primers. Most of the time I feel like they make my makeup look worse but I would like something pore filling. Maybe I'll give this a shot!
That’s because the Putty Primer is good for people with acne prone skin which is dry the point of the primer is to hydrate your skin… if you think this water base primer is gonna do you justice it won’t do anything for you… I went to get a new primer today and I did try the water base primer but it was sooo watery and just not it… your foundation will not stick to a water base primer if will just run down your face.. I’ve never had problems with cream primers that are hydrating because my skin is dry and acne prone and I also notice with other primers my foundation starts to melt off I really wouldn’t recommend it if the putty primer didn’t do just once for your skin it could be a reason to why it didn’t work not all putty primers or even water base primers work on everyone… by the ways here what should you do to prep skin first wash your face I normally use charcoal face wash cause it attacks my acne once you pat it dry than go in with a toner and hydrating face mist rub that into your face and let it dry a little follow by face serum and moisturiser after that go in with a primer let it sit and dry just for a minute if it’s cream based your foundation will stick better that’s what I do and that’s what helped my foundation stick better. But in my opinion I prefer the cream based primer over water
I've been wanting to try the liquid. The original putty primer is my favorite primer so I'm so excited now to get the liquid version. Thank you for your honest reviews, always ❤❤
I wonder how the two would work together…the liquid for a thin layer over widespread areas and the putty pressed into larger pores on the nose, for example.
Hi, I haven't seen anybody doing a video on this yet but can you do another comparison video of the elf luminous putty primer (that comes in the flat circular pot) and the elf illuminating face primer (that comes in a rectangular jar where you squirt out the product).
