    Backcountry Discovery Routes presents the Wyoming BDR. Traversing nearly 1000 miles over 8 awe inspiring sections, the all new route takes adventure riders into remote and wild territory - in the nations least populated state.
    Film tour starts in February 2022:

    About Backcountry Discovery Routes:
    Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is a non-profit organization that creates off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. BDR has introduced a new route with free GPS tracks for the community every year since 2010.
    The BDR mission includes rider education, safety campaigns and promoting responsible motorcycle travel in the backcountry.
    The volunteer-powered organization works with agencies and land managers to keep trails and remote roads open for motorcycling.
    Each route generates new tourism that delivers sustainable economic relief to less-advantaged rural communities. This creates local advocates who will help fight to keep access for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles in these incredible backcountry areas.

    A few things to keep in mind before setting out on what will likely be the best BDR ever;
    1. The weather in Wyoming can (and likely will) change at any time. Highs in the 90s with lows far below freezing in the middle of summer are not uncommon, especially at altitude. Neither is snow, rain, hail and/or wind storms. Plan accordingly.
    2. Many mountain trails (especially the more fun/challenging ones) are not open and passable until at least mid July. Again, plan accordingly.
    3. Some of the gas stops on this route have old pumps, so you cannot pay at the pump and hours are limited. Again, planning.
    4. There are many trails, things and places not far off the route that are well worth going out of the way for. I suggest a little research …and yet again, planning.
    5. Pretty much everything stated above boils down to being prepared. Also, remember to be prepared to have a lot of fun!

    This is going to be GREAT! High on the fun factor and brings $$$ to the state. Wyoming can't be isolationists, we can still preserve the land & wildlife. 54 year resident.

    I have never been too interested in any of the BDRs before. I would watch videos of them being run, but never felt the need to add myself to the picture and run one myself. I grew up in So. Dak. and have lived and worked in Wyoming before. I fell in love with it's rugged beauty and lack of people. I may have to plan for this one in 2023.

    I have such mixed feelings. I lived in Jackson, WY for a quite some time. I know how wonderful the whole state is and I really enjoyed the fact that once you go out of the Tetons and the Jackson Hole area, no one ever toured or really knew about these areas. So I'm torn to have it be shared on a more public platform, but I do agree... people are going to love this BDR.

    • @infosummitspring6779
      @infosummitspring6779 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is such an incredibly selfish and short sighted view. If others felt that way, you wouldn't have anywhere else to ride except your backyard. The number of people that do these routes at the same time and actually run into others on the trail is extremely small. Your view is much to do about nothing. This is exactly the problem in Maine. Everyone "from away" buys land and posts it no trespassing so they can keep it all to themselves and we have nowhere to ride. You should think about your statement.

    • @scridercoach
      @scridercoach 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@infosummitspring6779 , Did you actually read my comment? I said I was torn, not that it should not exist or no one should enjoy it. Have you never wanted to keep a gem of a location your little secret, even if it's not really a secret? It's called wishful thinking or being wistful. I never made any statement against the BDR or people enjoying it. So to use your own words, "you should think about your statement"... and possibly not read too much into mine. Ride safe and enjoy all the BDRs.

      Just in case you’re not familiar with Wyoming, we can get any weather any time of year and there are places along this route I nearly froze a few times at night doing primitive camping with days hitting around 90°, but nights dropping well below freezing in the middle of summer. There are also random snow, hail, rain and/or wind storms. Just be prepared. Also keep in mind that some of the gas stops along the route have old pumps and limited hours, in the past some of these have been cash only, but I’m not sure if that is the case anymore.
      For the most part all of the conditions can be overcomes proper planning.
      In any event and despite the harsh conditions, or maybe because of them, dual sport/adventure riding in Wyoming is an awesome experience!

    I lived in the Lander/Hudson/Riverton area for quite some time. For those not from or familier with Wyoming, please plan your trip ahead of time. On section 5 the route between Atlantic City to Lander goes through the mountains (Its amazing!!) but is only open part of the year. Be sure to check and plan accordingly. While I have not rode the BDR route as they have created, I have covered most of this area on either a MX or Dual Sport bike. The areas this route covers are indeed quite fantastic, and while the video DOES look good it just can not do the area's justice and when you get out there and see it for yourself you will understand why I say that.. Wyoming is indeed a very beautiful place, and I hope that give this route a try. Once done with the route, do not let your Wyoming Adventure stop there... While you would have to cover pavement routes for other spots, there are several more places that you may enjoy :) (Yellowstone Park, Grand Teton Park, Jackson Hole for example...) Be sure to visit the neighbooring states as well, as Montana & Idaho are just as beautiful....

Taking this next summer off to do a complete ground up rebuild and spend time with grand kids....but taking all of 2023 summer off of work. WA BDR to NW Passage to continental divide and then onto the Wyoming BDR.
