That part with Phoebus just sends me, good god. He sounds so good!
Such powerful and beatiful music: 0:52 to 1:55 and 2:51 to 3:33
AWESOME!!! ON PAR with the American version! They both sound so great and powerful! Strength in numbers!
On par? The Berlin version is absolutely exquisite! Just listen to end, with the coloratura sopranos - no idea why they lowered it.
And I mean the original.
@@annchristinelverum1693 I believe that was for the North American Production in 2014 with the script by Peter Parnell. It's best to look at both the 1999 Berlin Show and the 2014 US Production as two different shows. But that's just me, anyway.
Wow
As a native English speaker, I find this *better* than the English version.
That version is ruined by "ThE GIrl NEEDs yOUR HEEEELP!" Basically narration throughout the Sanctuary score.
God, the greek chorus is awful in that.
Totally agree! But making it an "ensemble piece" rather than the original version, they probably had to 😭
Haha, it's latin, not greek😂
Greek chorus is a term for a group of people who narrate what's happening in the story. So the latin chanting is drowned out but what sounds like high school students giving a play by play on the action. Totally drowning out the score @@Musical935
@Musical935 The Greeks did adopt the same element of ensemble so he's not wrong 🤷♂️
@@itsamekevin haha, my comment was just about the language...no offense 😇
I’m sorry, but this version tops the US version. The remake needs to be a mix between both versions.

QUASIMODO
Come all you saints of stone
All you guardians and gargoyles
Hurl down stones into the night
Throw the ladders down and light
These vats of lead: Steaming, boiling streams of lead
Burning lead, and let the flames grow higher
Oh saints and monsters, show your power
Help me to send this raging shower
Raining fire to the stones below
CHOIR

We've done it, Esmeralda! We've beaten them back! ...........Esmeralda? Esmeralda.......
ESMERALDA
Thank you.
QUASIMODO
You are safe!
ESMERALDA

Safe again at the top of the world
Two friends enjoying this beautiful morning

FROLLO
Is she dead?
QUASIMODO
Because of you!
FROLLO
It was my duty, you know.
QUASIMODO
Duty?
FROLLO
Horrible as it was. Having to impose the law. It gave me no pleasure. You know that, Quasimodo. You know that better than anyone.
At last we're free of Esmeralda
Now that she's gone, her poison dies with her
Now that we're done with Esmeralda
We can go on, as close as once we were

CLOPIN
Morning in Paris, a new day is here
Sing the Bells of Notre Dame
Ending the tale of your poor balladeer
Sing the Bells of Notre Dame
And I wish I could give you a moral
Like a trinket you hold in your palm
But...
Here is a riddle to guess if you can sing the bells of Notre Dame
What makes a monster and What makes a man?
SEVERAL PRINCIPALS AND ENSEMBLE
Sing the Bells, Bells, Bells, Bells....
CLOPIN
Whatever they pitch, you can feel them bewitch you
The rich and the ritual knells of the-
EVERYONE
-Bells of Notre Dame!!!!
CHOIR

About final sung by Parisians( who celebrates Frollo's Death):
Michael Kunze made German Lyrics to be more profound.
So I translated that German Lyrics by Michael Kunze, because I am fond to that version of lyrics.
