Learning how to film and edit was just as much work as the tree! If you dug it, please consider subscribing and doing all the TH-cam things so the algo can rithm
Honestly this is so well done, editing is great, you're great, your set up is awesome, good cuts keeping it just at that balance of entertaining and attention retaining (a sad thing you have to accompany these days...) Amazing work! And from Ruth for the other side of things!
Can’t believe this is only your first video. Your expertise in CAD and knowledge about 3D printing was really interesting and fun to watch. And as someone who knows nothing about 3D modeling/printing everything was explained super well too. Can’t wait for more content!
I hope to one day ahve a project come together as nicely as this. From the collaboration end, to the filming etc. Knowjng this is your first set of videos is really inspirational! Turned out fantastic! Cheers to you and your friend!
I love this, as someone who has taken on some big printing projects over the years, time management is bloody important and not enough nerds think about it :)
How many Kg of filament was used. Put the files and spreadshet online for 10 dollars and you will pay this project back many times. Greatest first video I have ever seen. congrats
Amazing project, I haven't seen anything as ambitious. It will be hard for you to top it! I'd like to realize it for next Christmas, I wonder if I'll dare to do it myself having one printer and on top of that, so much fillament.... Wesołych Świąt!
So amazing! Definitely an inspiration. I’ve sent all the info to my husband, hopefully to inspire him to start work on our tree throughout next year😊🎄🎄🎄
Dude, this is such a professional video, I thought you must be a channel that's been doing this for years. I was shocked when I saw your sub count and video count. If I can give a suggestion, I think you should consider editing down the video more. Some segments I think could be cut for a more concise and better paced video. As someone who also likes to talk a lot in my projects, I also find myself having to cut back and see what I should take out to make it not so wordy and long winded. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the video and subscribed. Hope to see where this channel goes next
Don’t tell him he could have downloaded 3d files for every single part using a program called Studio. I haven’t personally upscaled anything, but from what I’ve seen it works fairly well.
I haven't even been able to watch the video yet, but I subscribed because people in that Bambu FB group were hilariously mad about this project. Here's to the all haters causing the exact opposite of the effect they're looking for. :D
Ellis, looks incredible! Well done! I would love to print one of these too. I hope you can share/sell the STLs. It would go great with my giant Lego wreath.
Hi ngl real good video but one thing came to my mind if like you wanted to make upgraded version maybe next year... so maybe make an adapter from these big lego studs you have on this tree and make them to the normal diameter studs from lego so you might be able to put lego houses or other lego builds on the tree
It's crazy how professional this video was for being the first (?) YT video. I kinda want to do this myself, but im affraid my A1 wouldn't survive the job and it'll take until christmas 2025 to actually be done with it. Can't wait for someone to scale it to like 300% and print it on an OrangeStorm Giga :D Are you planning to disassemble and rebuild it every year, or do you just store it in a built state?
8:43 there are 2 programs you could have used for getting the part models: 1 is meacbricks. Little more finicky to use, has less pieces, but it has a much easier model export process. Second is Bricklink Stud.io. much easier to use, is owned by lego so it's the best parts database you can get, but the catch from that is I don't exactly know how easy it is to export the model files into something usable for printing. All of them are free.
Came over and subscribed for this wonderful tree! I so want to make one but I dont even have a 3D printer yet! I guess I need to figure out which cheapish printer I can get that will do this - I have 330 days or so to do it I guess :D
@@TheHrb1234 I can really recommend the Bambu A1! It's the cheapest printer in this video and I bought it for this build - it's crazy good value, especially on sale 🙂
@@elliswhere I was trying to figure out the cost to make this tree, I thought I heard 50kg of filament ? Yes, Id need all year to be able to afford that ! haha I wondered if you had an estimate at retail prices what it cost to make with failures etc included as it happens to us all.
@@elliswhere Ok, now I am going to ask you lots of info, like what is a good sale price you would look for for this printer, what accessories do you recommend that a) I need for this build or b) are useful to have for future printing and generally any other advice you could pass on to a printing noob? (Hey, might even be a handy how to video for the channel?). Thanks once again and congrats!
@@TheHrb1234 I paid £259+accessories+post for the A1 used in this video during the Black Friday sale. I'd suggest getting a spare 0.4 nozzle and any of the other sizes that might interest you - for replicating this build you'll want a 0.8. Cost wise it depends entirely on filament brand/quality. Polymaker is high quality stuff and its price/kg reflects that slightly. You can find cheaper PLA, in the region of £12/kg is probably doable. You don't need quite as much as 50kg for this build, that's how much we got shipped before I'd done all the CAD and print setup work. I got it down to 40-45kg I think.
@@elliswhere Immediately thought of this too - would love to print my own! I print the lego Wreaths for friends and love it, the tree would be amazing! Would happily pay for them!
Very cool, great work! Couple of questions: I'm guessing you have a reason for using the orca slicer and not bambu studio, even though you have bambu printers? And also for the filament, you got it sponsored, or is there some other reason you like the polymaker filament?
Awesome project and explanation! Please make the files available for printing. What CAD software did you use? If I start to print now, it'll be done for NEXT Christmas or maybe the year after.

Thank you! And as the filament was sponsored it didn't cost a terrible amount. I bought an additional printer for the build and a few other bits and pieces. The main cost to me was a mega amount of time!
Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed the video, I am just nitpicking or trying to give some feedback for future builds. One thing I would like to mention is it would be very satisfying if we had a build montage of the whole thing from beginning to end (the lego assembly I mean). Great work! Keep it up
