Admech is just one of those armies you have to collect slowly over a longer period of time than other factions, collecting via limited time bundles and fomo boxes. It was pure luck that I got into 40K/Admech last year at the exact point in time where the Elimination Maniple battleforce, Boarding Patrol, Old CP, and later the current CP were all still in stock. these alone gave me 12 kataphrons, 40 skitarii and one unit of almost every kit in the faction, since then ive used ebay bundles to fill gaps in my collection. Hopeful admech collectors, my advice is just have patience for good deals and future limited time discounts like the boarding patrols. The models themselves are hard enough to paint already, by the time I finish my backlog 11th edition will roll around.
For $780 , you can make a kastelan robots list if you can get a hold of 2 of the old combat patrol. The total buys are 2 of the old combat(with onager, 1of the new combat patrol ,3x kastelan robots and a sicarian built as infiltrators.
Honestly I stand by the idea that you can scratch build some of most of your Admech units to cut down on the cost. If you think about it the kataphrons breachers/destroyers are kinda just tonks with torso holding big guns instead of gun turrets
If you grab some guardsmen from Horus Heresy you can work some stuff with the extra skitarii ranger bits to make some unique looking rangers vs the vanguards, but you still need to have enough bits to mix and match stuff around to get there. It's probably the best way to actually get a ton of battle line for cheap though.
Jeez, this one isn't an April Fool's episode so I wanna call it a redemption arc, but we're talking about an army who's (recently buffed) combat patrol still has worse points-per-dollar than the normal boxes of units of most armies. Have you ever considered suggestions for kitbashes or counts-as units? Because I bet fancy paint jobs on 30k stuff or maybe some Necromunda/AoS kids could help out certain armies. That, and certain bitz can be used to turn normal troops into leaders, especially for uniform looks like Space Marines. (For example, I'm going to use the Orlock Arms Masters and Wreckers box to make scout-themed Jump Intercessors because 60 bucks for a 80 point unit feels awful. And they'll be led by a jump sergeant that I turned into a captain because their sculpts are literally identical anyway.)
I do consider kitbashes (even called them out by name in my sisters video), but the best I could find was using the solar auxilla boxes from HH as supplements with the extra sprue bits to try to make something like a specialized Skitarii ranger in case you wanted 8 battle line units for some reason. You could probably do a skitarii marshal that looked pretty good though. HH mechanicus units not being out did make it a little awkward. I tried asking around for good ways to save money on collecting admech and the best answer I got other than 3d print was "theft".
yeah AdMech do be like that. I got lucky and got myself the Elimination Maniple, Old CP, Boarding Patrol and a gift from a friend which was 1 chicken, 3 kataphrons and 1 skitarii box. I'm magnetizing everything in this army and oh boy, patience is key with this army. btw I still don't have 2k points with all of this xD
I would argue that an Onager Dunecrawler (Neutron or Heavy Phosphor) would be a viable alternative to a Skorpius Disintegrator with extra protection to Skitarii Rangers on the firing line or Vanguards on the advance. I have one in my army list for that reason, plus Strider(s)
Are we able to get a Deathwatch vid when you get the chance? Looking to start 40k and stuck between World Eaters and Deathwatch for my first army as they both seem hella cool to me!
Since no one said this before...
Adeptus Mechanicus and budget is something you wouldn't expect to see in the same sentence.
They're bottom tier for a reason!
Lol my thought exactly
The cons to ad mech being 3 times the size is honestly very generous 😂
I mean...

Super excited for this episode! AdMech models look so cool and the Horus Heresy AdMech release is definitely tempting me...
We'll see if the Horus Heresy models wind up being more cost efficient similar to the guard models.
500 points = 2 combat patrols.
Already costing double what it takes for Custodes to get to 1000. xD
Already costing what it costs custodes to get to 2000.
Better idea for 1k points: buy two of the old combat patrol with the onagers for $125 each.

Build the bats as skystalkers, the dogs as raiders the mani leads the 6 breachers. Nothing wasted.

Admech will cost you more than a messy divorce.
Maybe affordability were the friends we made along the way

Yeah Admech in particular is kinda hosed. But at least other armies have options.

It is, but the disintegrator is forward planning. Once you have enough points for over 2k you start turning them into transports
I would dive into admech in a heartbeat if I could run a pure Cult Mechanicus army. Give me a battleline servitor squad damnit!

Well deathwatch isn't an army anymore...
@Speeds_Gaming_Corner well that solves that then aha!
@@mightybamf1127 nice when the universe solves your problems for you
Can you do a necron or tyranids next video! Would love to see a refresh on those two factions
Next video is going to not be a budget video, and I'll be going on a short hiatus for vacation after. I'll keep in mind nids and necrons when I'm back
Me, an admech fan and poor:
Grey Knights when?
Grey knights have a video currently. They'll be updated when they get a codex
@@Speeds_Gaming_Corner I did not notice the grey knight video. xD
@@cygnusereve4779 It was the second video so I didn't have the format down
May I please request Salamanders?
It's a bit older, but my space marines video has salamanders.
@Speeds_Gaming_Corner Ooh thanks. Im wanting to really get into 40k i love the models and Im loving the Lore of Salamanders.
