We get smoothounds (gummys) in the UK. Not as big as these!!!! A fish over 10lb is a Specimen fish! These fish are on steroids!!!
We catch them on crab and squid baits. Crazy fishing over there!!!

Just because they use Stellas to catch those fish does not mean you can't use cheaper gear to catch the same. Blokes have used $80 kids combos and even handlines to catch billfish.
Sure Stellas are a dream reel, but you don't need them.

They have done plenty of that. TheTehnominator. From yank flathead, bream in estuaries etc. if anything I think YouFishTV is one of the only shows that can't be accused of not going back to basics. Yeah they do their big trips, those special fish. But they bust their ass to afford and have those trips. On ya Winga

we catch a species of gummy here in the UK its almost identical, we have tons of them, top bait probably the only bait we use are crabs for them

Those "baitfish" you're catching are in the Mackeral Family,And yes they are good eating besides being a good bait fish.

The fact you guys call Kahawai salmon urks me to the core. Down here they get quite big. I've been run up and down river mouths by those bastards many times. They are a lot of fun on light gear.
