Hey Jay yes unfortunately gold plating does eventually fade. But this is high quality real 14K gold plating so it is long lasting. We suggest not wearing the item daily, and avoiding high heat outdoors as the acid in our sweat is what really eats away plating. When it does fade though, you can always have it redipped at a local jewelry repair shop at a fair price since this is a small item. Lastly, we can custom make a solid 10K gold one for you $2600 and it would never fade. Thanks!
