You might take it for granted, but streaming video from Netflix to your device entails a lot of computer power. In this video I give a general overview of how Netflix gets video from its servers to your device.

I am doing research on the data and energy use of digital activities. This was really helpful! I am trying to map the specific pathways for streaming. For example, when you request to stream a movie, where does that request go, where is the server to deal with requests, what transmission network is used and how far does that request travel and what route does it take, where are movies stored.... some of this your video answers perfectly but I would love to get in touch to discuss more granular detail regarding the streaming process. Please let me know if there is a way I can contact you directly for a more detailed info request.

Is it possible to stream these shows onto the TV? I, personally, do not like watching movies on the computer, I prefer a bigger screen.
